Before using your BOOM Phone, read ‘Before you start’ for overview of features, basic setup, and other

I. BEFORE YOU START

A. FEATURES

2.1. Left Soft Key (side MP3 key)

• Performs the functions indicated by the text on the left bottom line of the main LCD screen

• In the idle mode, quickly access MP3 player.

• In the games mode, you can quit the program.

2.2. Right Soft Key (side Camera key)

• Perform the functions indicated by the text on the right bottom line of the main LCD screen

• In the idle mode, access the Multimedia menu directly. Press and hold to enter the Camera mode.

• Delete characters from display.

• In the Menu mode, return to the previous menu level.

• In the Camera mode, take a photo or record a video.

2.3. Send Key

• Make or answer a call.

• In the idle mode, retrieve the recent numbers dialed, missed, or received.

2.4. End Key

• End a call or reject an incoming call.

• Press and hold to switch the phone on or off.

• In the menu mode, cancel your input and return to the idle mode.

2.5. Multi-switch Key (on the right side of the phone)

Perform various functions.

• During a call, adjusts the earpiece volume.

• In the idle mode, adjusts the key volume.

• While MP3 player is playing, adjusts the music volume.

• In the menu mode, scrolls through the menu options.

• When entering text, moves the cursor left and right respectively.

2.6. 0 Key.

• In the idle mode, press and hold to access the Video Play Menu

2.7. 1 Key.

• In the idle mode, press and hold to access the Voice Mail directly.

2.8. 0—9 Numeric Keys

• Enter numbers and characters. In the idle mode, you can make use of Speed Dial function by long

pressing the number keys or select options of menus quickly.

• In some case, 2, 4, 6, 8 keys are used as navigation keys: up, left, right, down respectively.

2.9. [* ] Key and [#]Key

In different screens or in different menus, the two keys work as different function keys：

• [#] key

- In the idle mode, press and hold to access the Video Player list directly.

- When entering text, switch the text input mode.

• [*] key

- When held down in the idle mode, switch between the mute and normal mode.

- When entering text, switch to the symbol input mode.

2.10. Hook Button on the earphone

You can answer or end an incoming call. If you short press the button,

• Idle state: enter the call log list

• Call Log List: make call action

3. Battery

The phone comes with Li-ion battery which is only half charged but can be put into use immediately after

the package is opened. However, the battery should be thoroughly discharged and fully recharged

for at least 3 recycling times successively to achieve optimum performance.

3.1. Insert and Remove Battery

• Remove the battery from the phone by following steps:

① Push the battery clip.

② Then slightly lift up the battery.

• Insert the battery into the phone by following steps:

① Align the bottom of the battery down into the holes in the bottom of the phone. Then sit the

battery on the back of the phone until it clicks into place.

3.2. How to Charge the Battery

• Plug your charger into the main socket first.

• Connect the lead from the charger to the bottom of the phone.

• When the battery is charging, the icon on the upper left corner that indicates the battery charge

level will flash in cycle. If the phone has powered off, a charging screen will show that the battery is

charging now. You have to wait for some time before the charging icon appears on the screen if

your phone is overused.

• When the bars in the icon are fully filled and has stopped flashing, it tells you that the battery has

been fully charged. If the phone has powered off, the screen will tell you verbally that the charging

has finished. Generally, it takes 2—3 hours to fully charge the battery. Normally, the battery, the

phone, and the charger might get heated in the process.

• Release the charger from the power socket and the phone.

Note! Charge the battery in a well-ventilated area between -40℃ ~ +55℃. You must only use the

supplied charger. Unauthorized charger might result in danger and any malfunction or damage

caused by the use of unapproved charger will void the product warranty and the manufacturer will

not acknowledge it.

3.3. Battery Use

It is highly recommended that you recharge your battery when your phone powers off automatically or when

the screen says “Inadequate Battery”. If you recharge the battery before it is fully discharged, the phone will

make some adjustment automatically and complete the charging in less time.

The talk time and standby time suggested by the supplier is measured in an ideal operating environment.

Practically, the time may vary with the state of the network, operating environment and the way it is used.

4. SIM Card

The SIM card is usually embedded in a sheet card. You should first take it off the card before you assemble

it to the phone.

• Switch the phone off. Then remove the battery and pull it away from external power socket.

• Insert the SIM card under the SIM cardholder.

• When you need to remove the SIM card, you should first switch off the phone, remove the battery,

and take it away from under the SIM cardholder.

Note! Switch the phone off before you remove the SIM card from the phone. You may damage the

card if you try to insert it into the phone or remove it from the phone when your phone is connected to

external power

5. T-Flash Card

• Insert a T-Flash card.

1. Slide a T-Flash card into the memory card slot, with the label side face up.

• Remove the T-Flash card.

1. Press the T-Flash card so that, it is disengaged from the phone.

2. Slide the T-Flash card out of the slot.

6. Headset

Insert the headset plug into the jack on the left side of your phone marked

You can answer or end a call by pressing the hook button on the headset. When you receive an incoming

call while a call is in progress, you can answer the incoming call by pressing the hook button on the headset.

(The first call is automatically put on hold.)

You can make the last number dialed call by pressing the hook button when the screen is idle.

The last number dialed is launched by pressing the hook button, and then the call will be made by pressing

the hook button again.

Note! If the headset is plugged in, your phone’s standby time will be reduced. Therefore, please remove the

headset when not in use.

7. USB cable

1. Connect the USB connector to USB port of PC (Desktop or Notebook)

2. Connect the other end to the interface connector on the bottom of the phone

7.1 Data transfer with PC

When you connect your phone with PC by USB cable, the following window is shown up on you phone LCD.

z Mass Storage : You can use your phone as external memory

=> MP3 file, Image File, Photo File

z COM port : You can synchronize your phone data with PC by using ‘Phonesuite’ program

=> Phonebook, SMS message, Image file, i-meldody file

! Note : Please select Mass Storage for Mp3, Image, Video file transfer. Once you select Mass Storage, the

phone will shut off automatically and the phone is ready for file transferring

7.2 Charging

Your phone is on charging status automatically while USB cable connected with PC.

B. BASIC OPERATION

1. Power ON/OFF

You can switch your phone on /off by long pressing the [END] key.

2. Call Functions

2.1. Making a call

You can receive or make a call when the sign of the network service provider appears on the display screen.

The number of the bars on the left upper corner indicates the network signal strength.

Since barriers could greatly influence the talk quality on the telephone line, it is advisable to move within a

limited area to receive stronger signal.

2.2. Dialing mode

Whenever you press and input a numeric key, your phone will go to the dialing mode. The Signal indicator

icon and the Battery level indicator and other icons remain on the screen.

Usable key operations in dialing mode:

• Function keys: Save a number to Phonebook by pressing Save soft key. Return to the idle mode

by the [END] key. Dial the number entered by pressing [SEND] key. Press Clear soft key to erase

the digit. If you press and hold Clear soft key, all the digits will be cleared, then return to the idle

mode.

2.3. Connecting a Number

In the idle mode, you will enter the dialing mode by pressing any numeric key. By pressing the [SEND] key,

your phone will try to connect to a number. Connecting animation, signal indicator, and the battery level icon

will display on the screen. If the number you are dialing is stored in your phonebook in advance, the name

will be displayed on the screen. Otherwise, the called number appears on the screen.

Key operation：You can end a call by pressing Abort soft key, [END] key, the hook button on the earphone

or just by closing the phone.

2.4. Call from the List

Your phone stores each number dialed or answered in its memory. In the call list, you can view recent

called and answered numbers. The latest call will be listed in the very beginning. All the records are

categorized into Missed Calls, Dialed Calls, and Received Calls. The list may be updated continually as

new numbers are added to the beginning of the list and the oldest entries are removed from the bottom of

the list. You can view the Dialed Call numbers by pressing [SEND] key. You can also dial the numbers in

the list by pressing [SEND] key.

You can launch the call options by pressing Option soft key so that you can save the number into

Phonebook list by pressing “Save to Phonebook”.

2.5. Answer a call

When there is an incoming call, your phone will ring or vibrate according to the current alert setting.

2.6. Call Log

Your phone saves the recent call record and all the call time. In “Call Time” sub-menu, you have the

following options:

• Last Call Time

• Total Sent

• Total Received

• Reset All Time

2.7. Call Menu

2.7.1. During a Call

When a call is successfully connected, the main-screen displays the following information:

• Number or Name

• Call Time

• Status: Hand-free/ Hand On

2.7.2. Key Functions

• Function Key：Left soft key for Call Function options (Answer or Reject); Right soft key for switching

between Hand and Hand-free mode; [END] key for hanging up the phone.

• Multi-switch Key Up/Down：Adjust the volume.

• Numeric Keys：You can input numbers by the prompt to transmit DTMF (Dual Tone Multi

Frequency)

2.7.3. Call Options

These options are visible only when you are during the process of a call. The multi-part call function should

get support from the network. Please contact your network service provider for further information.

The following options are available:

• Hold

• End

• New Call

• Phonebook

• SMS

• Sound Record

• Mute: Local voice will not be transmitted to the other part.

• DTMF: You can set it ON or OFF.

Note! Some options appear only in some particular situations. Or they may need the support from

the network. For example: “New Call” should get supported from the network.

2.7.4. Auto Answer

If the earphone has been plugged into the jack on the phone and the Auto Answer function is set ON, the

incoming calls will be answered automatically in 5 seconds. Auto Answer function is in User Profile menu –

Headset – Customize – Answer Mode.

2.7.5. Auto Redial

If you set Auto Redial ON, the call will be redialed automatically after a failure. Auto Redial is in Settings

menu – Call Setup.

3. Text Input Mode

3.1. Text Input Mode General

The Upper Case:

• The Upper Case:

Press the key where the target input letter is located to input the letter. Then press and hold the letter. Press

[OK] key to confirm the input.

• The Lower Case:

The same as the upper case.

3.2. Smart ABC Input Mode

Press the numeric key where the target letter is located successively until the cursor is on the target letter

both in upper and lower case. Then, press the left soft key to confirm your input. Erase a character by

pressing Clear soft key. Quit the input mode by pressing right soft key. Give up the input by pressing the

[END] key.

3.3. Smart abc Input Mode

The same as the above Smart ABC Input Mode.

3.4. Numeric Mode

In the screen of number input, enter the number by pressing the relevant numeric keys.

3.5. Symbols

The screen will promote a table of 4×6 size. You can choose one from the 36 symbols including

punctuation marks, arithmetic marks and currency symbols etc. After the symbol is entered, the screen will

return the previous input mode.

4. Multimedia Functions

4.1 Camera

If you want to take a photo, please follow the procedure as below

• Press camera key (right soft key) to enter camera mode

• Press camera key (right soft key) to take a photo

• If you want to save the image, press save button (left soft key) and write the title, otherwise

press back button

Note! For more detailed information about this and other functions of camera, you can refer to the below

menu (Operation Instruction => Multimedia => Camera)

4.2 Video Recorder

If you want to take video in your phone, choose the [Video Recorder] menu in [Multimedia] menu.

z Choose the [Video Recorder] menu in [Multimedia] menu.

z Press the right soft key to take a video.

Note! For more detailed information of the functions of camcorder, you can refer to the below menu

(Operation Instruction => Multimedia => Video Recorder)

4.3 Audio Player

If you want to play MP3 file, please follow the procedure as below

• You can play MP3 files through Mp3 key (left soft key) or (Main Menu => Multimedia => Audio

Player)

• On the screen of MP3 player, choose Play button (or Key#2) or press the hook button on the

earphone

Note! For more detailed information of the functions of Audio Player, you can refer to the below menu

(Operation Instruction => Multimedia => Audio Player)

4.4 Video Player

If you want to play MPEG4 file, please follow the procedure as below

• You can play video files (*.mp4 or *.3gp) through Main Menu => Multimedia => Video Player)

• Choose the file you want to play and choose Play (Option => Play) or long press Navigation Key

Note! For more detailed information of the functions of Video Player, you can refer to the below menu

(Operation Instruction => Multimedia => Video Player)

II. OPERATION INSTRUCTION

A. Menu Operations

1. Phonebook

Phonebook is designed as a name card style in your phone. Each item stored in the phone consists of 3

numbers (mobile, home, office), Company, E-mail address, Fax, Image, Ring type, and Caller group (None,

Family, Friend, VIP, Business and others). Your phone is capable of storing and retrieving up to 300

numbers. Of course, you can save names and numbers in the SIM memory.

Speed Dial is also supported and you can make a call by pressing the numeric key directly in the idle mode.

1.1 Quick Search

In “Phonebook” menu, you can find a number conveniently and quickly in the “Quick Search” sub-menu.

Method: Input the initial letter of the Name in the place where the cursor is located, and the phone will begin

to search for the most possible record.

For example: In the case of searching for “Steve”, you just input the letter Z in the Pinyin Input Mode. Then

the number corresponding to the surname “Steve” will show itself.

1.2. Search by Location

In the idle mode, you can enter “Location number + # ” to search for a number directly.

For example: Input “1#” to retrieve the first number in SIM memory. If there is no such number, “No Record”

or “Un-identifiable Location” appears on the screen.

Procedure: Choose the option of “Search” in the menu + Input the name + Go through the record for the one

matches your target the most.

 View

You can view the details of a particular item of the phonebook in the Phonebook menu. The cursor will be

on the default number, which allows you to make a call directly. You can also see and edit the Home number,

Office number, E-mail, etc.

1.3.Sub-menu

• Quick Search (See 1.1Search)

• Search Entry（See 1.1 Search）

• Add New Entry

• Copy All

Copy all the records stored in the memory of SIM card and the phone memory respectively.

• Delete

Delete the records stored in SIM card and Phone memory respectively. The records can be deleted instantly

or one by one.

• Caller Group

You can set different alert ring types, images, and members to each of the five groups.

• Speed Dial

You can set it On or Off. You also need to edit speed dial number.

• Extra Number

In this category, you can set Owner number, Service number, and Emergency number.

Note! Service number should be supported by SIM card. If it is not supported, it should be disappeared

• Settings

Show the current setting status of the phonebook.

• Caller Picture :

You can set picture to special number (new or selected) or Caller Group.

• Caller Ring Tone

You can set ring tone to special number (new or selected) or Caller Group.

• Caller Video

You can set Video to special number (new or selected) or Caller Group.

1.4. Options

• IP dial：The IP number is automatically attached to the number dialed.

• Send SMS：Send SMS to a number selected from the phonebook.

• View：You can go through the list of telephone numbers stored in the phonebook.

• Edit：Edit names and numbers etc.

• Delete：Delete the selected information.

• Copy：You can copy the selected information either from Phone memory to SIM card memory or

from SIM card to Phone.

• Move：You can move the selected information either from Phone memory to SIM card memory or

from SIM card to Phone.

• Duplicate：Duplicate the selected information either from Phone memory to SIM card memory or

from SIM card to Phone.

• Send vCard：You can send name cards out or save them to archives by means of SMS and MMS.

• Voice Dial：You can associate voice tag to the selected number.

1.5. Other

When you are in the Phonebook—call log menu, you can dial the chosen number by pressing [SEND] key

directly.

2. Message

2.1. SMS

Your phone has 10 preset messages. You can also create your own text messages. You can add the

message module to the new message you are editing.

• Send

You can input the number to which you wish to send your message by either pressing the numeric keys or

retrieve it from the phonebook. The finished message can be sent immediately or saved for later editing.

During the process of sending, you can see animation on the screen. If the message is successfully

delivered, the screen will display “Successful Delivery”. Otherwise, “Failure!” will appear instead. The user

should make a confirmation. The message could be saved automatically. That is, after the message is sent

and return to the editing screen, the message will still be there.

• Save and Send

When this option is enabled, the message successfully sent will be saved in the Outbox. The capacity of

out-box is 50. You can delete the messages one by one manually or delete all.

• New Messages

When there is new message, your phone will remind you with both animation and alert ring. (Ring Setting

— Message) If the inbox is full, corresponding icon will appear on the top of the screen. You can return to

the idle screen by pressing right soft key / [END] key.

2.1.1. Inbox

In the inbox, the scrolling cursor indicates the date when the new message arrives. Read the message by

pressing the OK soft key. You can also Reply, Forward, and Edit the received message. Delete or Delete

All is also allowed. Reply the message sender through “Message List — Use Number”. Press the Back

soft key to go back to the previous menu and press the [END] to the idle screen.

2.1.2. Outbox

If you choose “Save and Send”, the message will be saved in the outbox after the message is successfully

sent. The unsent messages are also saved in the outbox, and then “No Number” is displayed, which

indicates that there is no destination.

2.1.3. Write Message

Following options are available in the “Write Message” menu: Font, Insert Image, and Insert Sound.

Each message may be composed of up to 612 characters. In the editing mode, you can select a text input

mode by pressing [#] key. Press [*] key to input a symbol. Press Clear soft key to erase the character before

the cursor. If you press and hold the Clear soft key, all the characters on the screen will be cleared. You can

go back to the idle mode by press [END] key. Select characters by right and left soft key. Quit the Text Input

Mode by pressing Clear soft key and continue your operation according to the text above the left soft key.

Note! Please refer to the Text Input Mode part for further information.

2.1.4. Template

You can insert the preset phrase into the text message that is composing.

2.1.5. Message Setting

• Profile Setting: Profile Name, SMS Center Address, Valid Period, and Message Type.

• Common Setting:

 Delivery Report:

Set whether to inform the other part the arrival of the message and the date when it

arrives through the network or not.

 Reply Path:

Transmit the reply path to the network terminals. This function needs the support of

the SMS center.

• Memory Status: To examine the status of the SIM card or phone memory. (The storage can

be Up to 50)

• Preferred Storage: SIM / Phone

• Prefer Bearer: GSM /GPRS

2.2. MMS

The phone has 5 preset MMS, which serve as samples when you want to create new MMS.

• Send

When a message is readily finished, you can choose to send it at once or save it for later use. During the

process of sending, you can see animation on the screen. If the message is successfully delivered, the

screen will display “Successful Delivery”. Otherwise, “Failure!” will appear instead. The user should make a

confirmation. The message could be saved automatically. That is, after the message is sent and return to

the editing screen, the message will still be there.

• Save and Send

When this option is enabled, the message successfully sent will be saved in the outbox. The capacity of

out-box is 50. You can delete the messages one by one manually or delete all.

• New MMS

When there is a new message, your phone will remind you with both animation and alert ring. (User profile

– Customize - Tone Setup— Message Tone) If the inbox is full, corresponding icon will appear on the top

of the screen.

You can return to the idle screen by pressing Right soft key / [END] key.

2.2.1. Write Message

• Edit Name

You can edit To, CC, and Bcc by taking multi-switch key up/down. In the editing mode, you can select from

the phonebook or edit it. Choose Text Input Mode by pressing [#] key. Press [*] key to input a symbol. Press

Clear soft key to erase the character before the cursor. If you press and hold the Clear soft key, all the

characters on the screen will be cleared. You can go back to the idle mode by press [END] key. Press [OK]

key to confirm your input and you can continue the number operation or quit.

• Edit Subject

Same as SMS

• Edit Content

Use multi-switch key to choose the item to be edited. Press the Edit soft key to the edit screen. You may

insert images, sounds, and etc. When you have finished editing, press left soft key to continue or just quit.

Note! Refer to the Text Input Mode to be introduced below for further information about the input

of characters. Limitation on the number of characters appears on the right upper corner of the

screen.

2.2.2. Inbox

In the inbox, the scrolling cursor indicates the date when the new message arrives. Read the message by

pressing the Ok soft key. You can also Reply, Forward, and Edit the received message. Delete or Delete

All is also allowed. Reply the message sender through “Message List — Use Number”.

Press the Back soft key to go back to the previous menu and press the [END] to the idle screen.

2.2.3. Outbox

When you choose “Save and Send” option, the message sent will be saved in the outbox.

2.2.4. Draft

You can save the draft messages here.

2.2.5. Templates

Preset MMS is saved here.

2.2.6. Message Settings

• Sending

 Validity Period: The period of time the MMS kept in the SMS center.

 Delivery Report: You can set it to ON/OFF.

 Read Report: Requests notification from the service provider whether the receiver has

read the MMS. You can set it ON/OFF.

 Priority: You can set to priority.

 Slide Timing

 Delivery Time

• Retrieval

 Home Network

 Roaming Network

 Read Report: Requests notification from the service provider whether the receiver has

read the MMS. You can set it Send/Never Send/On request.

 Delivery Report: Whether the delivery report is allowed or not.

• Filters

 Anonymous: You can set to allow or reject the anonymous MMS.

 Max Size: You can set to max size of MMS.

 Advertisement: You can set to read or reject the advertising messages.

• Server Profile: Edit the network service provider of MMS.

• Creation: You can set ‘Mode’ and ‘Auto Signature to’ ON/OFF. Also you can edit content

name.

• Memory Status: Indicate the used memory size for MMS messages.

2.2.7. MMS Report

The alert type of the arrival of MMS is the same as that used in SMS. That is, if the alert type for SMS is set

Mute, so is it for MMS. The main screen displays the MMS arrival icon. You can read the message by

pressing the right soft key or the [END] key. You will get information on the time when the MMS reaches the

receiver, the name or number of the receiver whether it is successfully sent. Quit to the idle mode by

pressing the left soft key.

2.3. Chat

In this menu, you can chat with someone using the SMS.

2.4. Voice Mail and Broadcast Message

Voice Mail and Cell Broadcast are network features. Before activating Voice Mail on your phone, you must

enter the voice center number obtained from your service provider. You should also set receiving mode,

language, and channels for CB.

3. Call History

In call history menu screen, you can see the number of Missed Calls, Dialed Calls, and Received Calls.

3.1. Call History Menu

• Delete Call Log

You can delete the records of missed calls, dialed calls, and received calls respectively without

clearing the call time record. In order to avoid unnecessary deleting operation, the user should

confirm his action before the record is deleted.

• Call Time

In this menu, you can view the last call time, total sent and total received. You can clear the all

call time.

• Call Cost

In this menu, you can view the last call cost, total cost, reset cost, Max cost, and price per unit.

(Need to enter PIN2 code)

• SMS Counter

You can view the sent messages and the number of the recorded messages. It can be reset.

• GPRS Count

To count the data transmit through GPRS.

Note! You can only store 10 records of the Missed calls, Dialed Calls, or Received Calls respectively.

You make a call directly from the record list.

3.2. Sub-menu

Following options are available in the sub-menu of Call History:

• Delete: Delete the selected record.

• Save to Phone book: Save the selected number to the Phonebook.

• Dial: Call back the caller.

• Edit: Edit the number so that it can be saved to the phonebook together with the city code.

4. Settings

Many different features of your phone can be customized to suit your preferences. All of these features are

accessed via the Setting menu.

4.1. Phone Setup

The following options are available:

• Time and Date: You can choose the city by using multi-switch key. The time and date format can be

set.

• Schedule Power On/Off: In this menu, you can set the schedule Power On/Off time and action.

• Language: You can choose from Spanish, Portuguese and English.

• Preferred Input Methods: Preset the default input mode.

• Default Encoding Type: You can choose from BIG5, GB2312

• Display Characteristic: You can choose the wallpaper appear on the screen when the phone is

switched on. Screen saver animation, power on/off animation, current time, and own number can

be set to display on the idle screen. You can choose the main menu style, dial font style and LCD

penetration

• Greeting Text: Greeting is an alternative to the switch-on animation.

4.2. Call Setup

• Caller ID: Set whether to display your number on the other party’s phone. It can also depend on the

network.

• Call Waiting: Three options are available: Activate, Disable, and Query Status.

• Call Divert: Your phone will divert the coming calls on your own setting.

• Call Barring: You can divert all incoming calls, international calls, Out Except Home Calls, all

outgoing calls, and calls in roaming. You can also cancel all the call barring settings. This setting

should be supported by PIN code. The code can be changed, but before you enter the new code,

enter the old one first.

• Line Switching: You can switch between two network lines available on the phone. This is a

network feature.

• Call Time Reminder: You can set a tone to sound every minute during a call as a reminder of the

time.

• Call Time Display: You can set whether to count and display the call time the conversation lasts.

• Auto Redial

• Closed User Group: All calls listed in the group alert in the same way as your current setting.

• IP Number: You can edit at most 3 IP dial number and use on of them.

Note! Some settings should get support from the network. The Call Barring function is applicable only

when you subscribe to the network and be activated in SIM card.

4.3. Network Setup

• Network Selection: Search for and log in the registration network.

• Preferred Networks: Select your favorite network manually.

• GPRS Connection: Select your GPRS setting for MMS and WAP.

4.4. Security Setup

You can set security pattern with this menu so that your phone and SIM card will be guarded against any

illegal use.

• SIM Lock

• Phone Lock

• Auto Keypad Lock

• Fixed Dial

• Barred Dial: This function should be supported by SIM card. If it is not supported, it should be

disappeared.

• Change Password

Note! The default Phone Lock code is 0000. It is highly recommended for you to change it.

4.5. Restore Factory Settings

If you choose this option, all the settings will be restore to the factory setting. Please operate carefully.

4.6. Sound Effect

You can choose from Normal, Base, Dance, Classical, Treble, Party, Pop, and Rock.

In the camera main screen, you can take photos, set camera options, or view the saved pictures.

You can set the corresponding setting value in the camera preview mode.

In OSD menu mode, numeric keys are used as navigation keys.

5.6. Audio Player

Move the cursor to “Audio Player” and press the left soft key to view the file list. You can also press the hook

button on the earphone to play or pause. In the file list menu, press Option soft key.

• Detail: Check the details of the selected music.

• Add to Ring: Add the selected music to the ring list.

• Refresh List

• Settings: The following options are available:

Play List, List Auto Generation, Skin, Repeat, Shuffle, Equalizer, and Background Play.

Note! It is suggested that the volume should be turned down before the earphone is plugged into

the phone because loud sound can do harm to your ears.

5.7. Sound Recorder

Select “Sound Recorder” by pressing the left soft key, you can then see the size of the previous sound files

and the time when they are recorded.

5.8 Melody compose

You can choose different musical instruments to create melodies of your own style with your phone. You can

use the music as alert ring. Press [1]~[7] to enter the musical notes. The sound of a particular sound will

vibrate if you press [8] and it will flash if you press [9]. Press [0] to enter rest. The notes can be changed in

an octave if you press [OK] key. The pitch of a note is increased /decreased by a semitone by pressing [*]

once. The meter can be raised or lowered by pressing [#] key. You can switch between notes for a note to

be edited.

7.1. Games

This phone has three games for your enjoyment: Jet, Monkey and Puzzle.

Each game sets up Game Level, Best Grades, and Game Help. During a game, you can make a pause by

pressing left or right soft keys. Continue the game by pressing left soft key. Quit the game and back to the

idle screen by pressing [END] key.

Allows you to set the background music on or off during the game.

• Sound Effect (On/Off):

Allows you to set the effect sound on or off during the game.

You can set the color theme of the game screen and define your own favorite phone profile.

7.3. Stopwatch

Your phone can be used as a typical stopwatch or multi-direction stopwatch. There are Split Timing and

Lap Timing stopwatch functions in this typical stopwatch menu. You can view the record.

7.4. Image Editor

You can create and draw image.

8. User Profiles

You can use the sound setting features to customize various settings such as ring type, vibrator, and

volume depending on environments: General 、Meeting 、Outdoor 、Indoor 、Headset 。

You do not have to change every setting every time you arrive at a new setting. Instead, you just switch to

the readily set mode that fits the setting.

In each profile, you can set the following items:

• Tone Setup: Yon can set alert ring to the following operation: Incoming Call, Alarm, Power On,

Power Off, Cover Open, Cover Close, Message Tone, and Keypad Tone.

• Volume: Set the volume of ring tone and key tone.

• Alert Type: Ring, Vibration Only, Vibration and Ring, Vibration then Ring, and Vibration then

Ring.

• Intelligent Call Alert: Once this function is on, the phone number of other person who is

calling to you is read in voice tone when you receive a call.

• Ring Type: Single, Repeat, and Ascending

• Extra Tone: Warning, Error, Camp On, and Connect.

• Answer Mode: Cover Answer and Any Key.

• LCD Backlight: Set the LCD Backlight duration (5 sec / 15 sec / 30 sec / 45 sec / Always).

After the setting is done, you may choose “Open” in the option menu.

Note! Switch back to Vibration mode by long pressing [#] key. Press and hold again, it will go back to

the previous mode.

9. Organizer

9.1. Calendar

This calendar helps to keep track of memos by alarming clock. You may write your schedule, too. You can

view the currently set calendar by pressing left soft key.

In calendar screen, numeric keys are used as navigation key.

- 4/6 key: move cursor to last/next day.

- 2/8 key: move cursor to last/next week.

- 7/9 key: move cursor to last/next month

- 1/3 key: move cursor to last/next year.

- 5 key: move cursor to today.

Press Option soft key and the following are available:

• View Tasks: You can view the current schedule. In the menu, you can edit Time, Task, Alarm,

and the Due Time. Also, you can delete the Schedule or add New Schedule.

• Jump to Date: View the designated date.

9.2. To Do List

You can check the schedule arranged on the current date. To edit schedule, please refer to the above

“Schedule”.

9.3. Alarm

This menu allows you to set the alarm to ring at a specific time. Three alarms are available. The default

mode is OFF. You may set one or all ON if necessary. The time and due date of each alarm can be set

separately.

9.4. World Clock

You can view the current time for GMT and the other cities around the world.

10. Services

10.1. WAP

WAP is a standard application protocol specially created for mobile communications devices and gives fast

and easy access to Internet information and service.

• Home Page: Once the connection is built, you will link to the home page defined by yourself.

• Bookmarks: Once you choose the menu Bookmarks, you can connect to your favorite site

much more conveniently.

• Recent Pages: The phone keeps tracks to the recent pages you log in. When you choose

‘Recent Pages’, your WAP browser will open the latest page at any time.

• Enter Address: If you know the URL of a site, you can go to the site directly by inputting the

URL.

• Service Inbox: You can view the push messages sent from the WAP browser.

• Settings

This option allows you to manage many of WAP settings.

 Edit Profile: Choose from the network setting options.

 Browser Option: Choose the time span you wait while opening the pages and set

whether display the pictures.

 Service Message Settings: You can set whether receive the server push messages

or not.

 Clear Cache: Clear the pages saved in the cache to make more room for new ones.

 Clear Cookie: Clear the personal information such as User ID and password stored in

the cache of the phone.

10.2. Data Account

This menu allows you to change and edit the settings for the GSM and GPRS network services. For further

details, contact your service provider.

• GSM Data: This menu allows you to manage and edit the settings required by the CSD

connection.

connection.

11. Extra

11.1. Calculator

• Enter numbers by pressing [0]—[9]. Press [#] for a decimal point. Press the right soft key to

clear your input.

• You can enter the symbols of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using

multi-switch key.

• Clear the latest input digit or result by pressing Clear soft key. If you press and hold the Clear

soft key, all the input or the result will be cleared.

• Press Ok soft key to calculate and the result will appear on the screen.

11.2. Unit Converter

You can convert one type of unit to another, such as weight and length.

11.3. Currency Converter

You can convert the currency at a given exchange rate.

11.4. Health

You can make a note of your current health.

B. Trouble Shooting

If you have problems on your phone operations, please check the following steps.

These checks enable you to save the time and expense due to the unnecessary after-service.

1. When Enter PIN appears at the power-up.

The PIN check is currently enabled.

You must enter the PIN supplied together with your SIM card. You can disable the PIN check if you want,

please see Security Setting menu in section F.

2. When Insert SIM screen appears at the power-up.

Please check that your SIM card is inserted adequately.

3. When Enter Lock Code appears at the power-up.

Your phone is phone locked.

You must enter the Lock Code supplied together with your phone.

4. No Service appears.

You probably are in the area out of the coverage of a GSM/DCS network.

5. If any tone is not generated when you press a keypad.

You need to check the Silence Mode setting.

You need to check the Type and Volume option of Key Tone menu.

You need to check Profiles menu.

6. If an audible alert is not made when a call is received.

You need to check the Silence Mode setting.

You need to check the Type and Volume option of SMS Alert Tone menu.

You need to check Profiles menu.

7. If an audible alert is not made when an alarm is expired.

You need to check the Silence Mode setting.

8. If an outgoing call is not made.

You have probably set an outgoing calls barring option. You need to check Call Barring menu.

9. If an incoming call is not made.

You have probably set an incoming calls barring option. You need to check Call Barring menu.

10. If an outgoing SMS message is not sent.

You need to check the Message Centre option in Message Setup menu.

11. If all audible key tones are muted and all audible alerts are changed to vibrator alert.

You need to check the Silence Mode setting.

By just pressing and holding [VOLUME-CENTRE] on the idle screen, you can escape or enter the mode.

12. If some menus relevant to the sound are not visible on the Sound Setting menu.

C. Safety Information

For the efficient and safe operation of your phone, observe these manual-lines.

1. Everyday Use of Your Phone

For normal operating position, hold your phone as you would with any other telephone, with the antenna

pointed up and over your shoulder. Do not touch the antenna unnecessarily when your phone is in use, as

3. Non-ionizing Radiation (exposure to Radio Frequency Signals)

Your phone is a low power radio transmitter and receiver. When it is on, it receives and also sends the radio

frequency (RF) signals. Most modern electronic equipment is shielded from RF signals. However, certain

electronic equipment may not be shielded against the RF signals from your mobile phone. RF signals may

Remember to follow any special regulations in force in any area, and always turn off your phone wherever it

FCC regulations prohibit using your phone while in the air. Switch off your phone before boarding an

9. Explosive Atmospheres and Materials

Turn your phone off and do not remove the battery when in any area with a potential explosive atmosphere

and obey all signs and instructions. You must observe restrictions on the use of radio equipment in fuel

depots; below deck on boats; fuel or chemical transfer or storage facilities; areas where the air contains

chemicals or particles, such as grain, dust, or metal powders; areas with signs about explosive

atmospheres or where blasting operations are in progress; any other areas where you would normally be

advised to turn off your vehicle engines.

10. For Vehicle Equipped with an Air Bag

Al air bag inflates with great force. Do not place objects, including both installed and portable wireless

equipment, in the area over the air bag or in the air bag development area. If in-vehicle wireless equipment

is improperly installed and the air bag inflates, serious injury could result.

Do not charge the phone without the battery in place.

D. Glossary

Cell Broadcast

This network service allows you to receive the broadcasted text messages on various topics such as

weather, traffic, local district code, local hospitals, taxis or pharmacy in the area where you are.

CUG (Closed User Group)

This network service allows the restriction of calls to and from a selected user group.

DTMF (Dial Tone Multi Frequency)

Codes sent as tone signals. Used for telephone banking, for accessing an answering machine, etc.

GSM

Global System for Mobile communication. This is a digital mobile telecommunication system that is used in

most of the world.

GPRS

This is an abbreviation of General Packet Radio Service which enables a packet data communication with a

high-speed.

Network Service Operator

To be able to use your phone, you need a subscription to a network. You get this subscription from a

network operator, together with a SIM card that you need to use with your phone.

MMS (Multimedia Message Service)

This is an abbreviation of Multimedia Messages Service. The data including text, image, sound and movie

can be sent with this service.

MP3

MP3 (MPEG-1 Audio Layer-3) is a standard technology and format for compression a sound sequence into

a very small file (about one-twelfth the size of the original file) while preserving the original level of sound

quality when it is played

PIN (Personal Identification Number)

The code is to establish authorization for access to certain functions or information in your SIM card. The

PIN code comes with your subscription. It may be a four to eight digit number and can be changed as

required.

PIN2 (Personal Identification Number 2)

The code is an authorization code to access certain special field in your SIM card. The PIN2 code does not

come with your subscription in some country.

Roaming

Use of your phone when you are outside your subscription network area.

SIM (Subscriber Identity Module)

It contains subscriber details, security information and memory for a personal directory of numbers.

SMS (Short Message Service)

Messages to be sent and received via the network service operator’s message centre to your mobile phone.

To use this service, it must be supported from your network.

WAP (Wireless Application Protocol)

REQUIREMENTS FOR EXPOSURE TO RADIO WAVES.

Your wireless phone is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed and manufactured not to exceed

the emission limits for exposure to radiofrequency (RF) energy set by the Federal Communications

Commission of the U.S. Government. These limits are part of comprehensive guidelines and establish

permitted levels of RF energy for the general population. The guidelines are based on standards that

were developed by independent scientific organizations through periodic and thorough evaluation of

scientific studies. The standards include a substantial safety margin designed to assure the safety of

all persons, regardless of age and health. The exposure standard for wireless mobile phones employs

a unit of measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit set by the FCC

is 1.6 W/kg. *

Tests for SAR are conducted with the phone transmitting at its highest certified power level in all tested

frequency bands. Although the SAR is determined at the highest certified power level, the actual SAR

level of the phone while operating can be well below the maximum value. This is because the phone is

designed to operate at multiple power levels so as to use only the power required to reach the network.

In general, the closer you are to a wireless base station antenna, the lower the power output. Before a

phone model is available for sale to the public, it must be tested and certified to the FCC that it does

not exceed the limit established by the government adopted requirement for safe exposure. The tests

are performed in positions and locations (e.g., at the ear and worn on the body) as required by the

FCC for each model. The highest SAR value for this model phone when tested for use at the ear is

0.417 W/Kg

and when worn on the body , as described in this user guide, is 0.148 W/Kg . (Body-worn

measurements differ among phone models, depending upon available accessories and FCC

requirements). While there may be differences between the SAR levels of various phones and at

various positions, they all meet the government requirement for safe exposure. The FCC has granted

an Equipment Authorization for this model phone with all reported SAR levels evaluated as in

United States and Canada, the SAR limit for mobile phones used by the public is 1.6 watts/kg (W/kg)

averaged over one gram of tissue. The standard incorporates a sub-stantial margin of safety to give

additional protection for the public and to account for any variations in measurements.
