Shopping Game: • Shop for food items on Tad’s list! 3 Learning Modes - Explore - Learn - Shopping Game Easy-to-use scanner recognizes all 10 foods. 10 food items represent quantities 1-10. Try This: Symptom: • Tad will ask the child to find food items. For example, he’ll say, “Let’s make a fruit shake! My list says we need strawberries and bananas.” Toy does not turn on or does not respond • If a correct item is scanned, Tad congratulates the child and encourages him/her to find the second item. • Remove batteries and put them back in • Make sure battery cover is correctly secured • Clean battery contacts with rubbing alcohol • Install new batteries • If an incorrect item is scanned, Tad helps the child find the correct item by offering a clue about the color of the food. For example, he’ll say, “The bananas are yellow.” • Need help? Press Tad to hear a clue. Volume control Battery compartment Getting Started • Assemble the Pretend & Learn™ Shopping Cart according to the included assembly instructions. • Insert 3 AA (sometimes called LR6) alkaline batteries in the battery compartment that is located under the basket. Instructions for play Important: For best scanning results, touch the with the black side of the scanner. TROUBLESHOOTING “LeapFrog Sticker” Explore Mode: • Scan any food item to hear the name of the food and its quantity. • Scan again to hear the color, food group, nutritional benefit and a fun fact about the food item. • Press Tad to hear a fun shopping song! Learn Mode: • Scan any food item to hear the quantity. Then, count along with Tad! • Scan any food item a second time and Tad will compare its quantity to the previous food item scanned. For example, if you scan the bananas first, and then scan the eggs a second time, Tad will say, “We have more eggs than bananas!” • Press Tad to hear a shopping song! Battery Safety: Batteries are small objects. Replacement of batteries must be done by adults. Follow the polarity (+/-) diagram in the battery compartment. Promptly remove dead batteries from the toy. Dispose of used batteries properly. Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are to be used. DO NOT incinerate used batteries. DO NOT dispose of batteries in fire, as batteries may explode or leak. DO NOT mix old and new batteries or types of batteries (i.e. alkaline/standard). DO NOT use rechargeable batteries. DO NOT recharge non-rechargeable batteries. DO NOT short-circuit the supply terminals. When the batteries run low on power, the scanner may become unreliable, and the toy’s speech may become garbled or erratic. Replace the batteries at this time. IMPORTANT: Please notify the LeapFrog Consumer Service department of any difficulties before returning this product for any reason. Returns must have a Return Authorization number (RA#) in order to be processed. If the service representative is unable to solve the problem, you will be given instructions on how to replace the product. 3. Open the battery door with a screwdriver. 4. Install new batteries as shown in the polarity diagram (+/-) inside the battery compartment. 5. Replace battery door securely. This warranty is void if the product has been damaged by accident or unreasonable use, immersion in water, neglect, abuse, battery leakage or improper installation, improper service, or other causes not arising out of defects in workmanship or materials. Repair or replacement as provided under this warranty is the exclusive remedy of the purchaser. LeapFrog shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential damages for breach of any express warranty on this product. Any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose on this product is limited to the duration of this warranty. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, or limitation on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state.
