To know if your device works with LTE networks in your country, contact your carrier. Home screen The home screen is the starting point for using your device. For your convenience, the home screen is already set up with some useful apps and widgets. Note: Your device's features and home screen may be different depending on your location, language, carrier, and device model. You can customize your home screen at any time. Home screen On the home screen, there is a Google Search bar and some useful apps. Preview screen Press and hold anywhere on the home screen except the icons, or press in the top row of the keyboard. At the bottom of the screen are WALLPAPERS and WIDGETS . Add a widget to the home screen Tap at the bottom of the preview screen, press and hold the widget you want to add, then drag it to where you want it placed and release. Change the wallpaper Press and hold anywhere on the home screen except the icons, select WALLPAPERS at the bottom of the screen, and then choose the wallpaper that you like. Go to > Settings > Display > Wallpaper and choose the wallpaper that you like. Move an app to another screen Press and hold an app that you want to move, drag it to the left or right side of the screen, then release it where you want it placed. Uninstall an app 1. Press and hold an app that you want to uninstall. 2. Drag to , then release and tap OK. Note: Some of the system apps cannot be uninstalled. Taskbar Buttons There are four buttons in the taskbar. Back button : Tap Home button : Tap Recent button : Tap to return to the previous page. to return to the default home screen. to see recent apps. Then you can do the following: Tap an app to open it. Swipe an app window up to close it. Tap to stop running all apps. App list button : Tap to display all apps on your tablet. Customizing the taskbar The recent app icons are displayed in the taskbar, you can do any of the following: To open an app, tap its icon. When the app icons cannot be completely displayed in the app list, will appear at the side of the taskbar. To see the hidden icons, slide left or right. To adjust the order of the icons in the taskbar, press and hold an app icon until it enlarges slightly, drag it to where you want to place it, and then release it. To close an app, press and hold an app icon unit it enlarges slightly, drag it upward, and then release. Notifications and Quick Settings The Notifications panel informs you of new messages, USB connection, and activities in progress such as file downloading. The Quick Settings panel allows you to access frequently -used settings such as the WLAN switch. You can do any of the following: To open the Notifications and Quick Settings panel, press Ctrl + simultaneously. To see notifications, swipe down from the top of the screen. To close the Notifications panel, swipe up from the bottom of the screen. To dismiss a notification, swipe left or right across the notification. To dismiss all notifications, tap CLEAR ALL at the bottom of the Notifications panel. To open the Quick Settings panel, swipe down from the top of the screen twice. To close the Quick Settings panel, swipe up from the bottom of the screen. Status indicator The status indicator on your device indicates the following information in different status: Blinking 1. Press the power button to turn on the device. 2. The battery is charging. 1. The device is not connected to the charger. Off 2. The device is turned off. It is connected to the charger and has been fully charged for over 10 minutes. On The device is turned on. It is connected to the charger and fully charged. Positioning the display panel The display panel can be opened to any angle up to 360 degrees. Rotate the display panel, and then you can do any of the following: Type Mode Suitable for tasks that require the keyboard and touchpad (such as creating documents, writing emails, and so on). Create Mode Suitable for tasks that require use of the create pad and Real Pen (such as note -taking, sketching, and so on). Browse Mode Suitable for tasks that require frequent use of the touch screen (such as surfing the Web, playing games, and so on). Watch Mode Suitable for tasks that require limited interaction with the touch screen (such as viewing photos, watching videos, and so on). Force shutdown Press and hold the On/Off button for about 10 seconds until the device turns off. Split screen mode Using split screen mode To enter split-screen mode, do any of the following: Method 1 to see recent apps. 1. Tap Note: Make sure there is at least one running app. 2. Press and hold the first app you want to open, drag it to the left or right side until "Drag here to use split screen " appears, then release. The app will be locked into position. 3. Go to recent apps list, or tap , then choose the second app you want to open. The two apps will then be displayed in split screen mode. Method 2 1. Open an app then press and hold . This app will be locked into position on the left side of the screen. 2. Go to recent apps list, or tap , then choose the second app you want to open. The two apps will then be displayed in split screen mode. Note: Not all applications support split screen mode. Split screen settings In split screen mode you can do the following: Replace the second app Tap to choose another app, or tap an app icon in the taskbar. Adjust the split screen size Slide the in the middle of the two apps, to the left or the right. Exiting split screen mode To exit split screen mode, do any of the following: Press and hold to exit split screen mode. Close the first app Press and hold the app icon in the taskbar until it enlarges slightly, then drag it upwards and release. Choose an app that doesn't support split screen mode. Halo Keyboard Your tablet has a physical keyboard with backlights and a touchpad. You can perform some operations using the keyboard and touchpad, without the use of the touch screen. You can also choose whether to control your tablet by using an on -screen keyboard. To enable the on -screen keyboard, press and turn the Keep it on screen while physical keyboard is active switch on. Note: Your Keyboard layout may vary based on your location and language. Hotkeys Single keys To help you access frequently -used tasks quickly, special hotkeys are located on the top row of the keyboard. Key icon Function Mute the volume Decrease volume Increase volume Mute the microphone Decrease screen brightness Increase screen brightness Open Google search bar Turn on WLAN connection Open "all apps" list Change input methods/go to keyboard settings Enter edit screen Take screenshot Space Unlock the screen Hotkeys combinations Key icon Function Alt+F4 Close current app Alt+Tab Switch between running apps Ctrl+Alt+Delete Lock screen Function key combinations You can use the function keys to quickly adjust various settings. To use function keys, press and hold Fn , which is located in the bottom row of the keyboard, then press one of the function keys. Key icon Fn+F1 Fn+F5/F6 Function Turn on/off of the keyboard vibration Adjust the keyboard backlight brightness Fn+Esc Keep the Fn key enabled by default Fn+F10 Enable/disable touchpad Note: For more information, go to > Settings > Languages & input > Physical keyboard > Keyboard shortcuts helper. Keyboard settings Changing your keyboard layout, input method and input language Your keyboard layout may vary based on your location and language. To change your keyboard, do any of the following: Go to > Settings > Language & input > Physical keyboard > TouchPal - TouchPal , and then choose the keyboard you want. Press F10 to choose the input method. Press Shift+Space to switch between input languages. Setting up your Halo Keyboard Adjusting the brightness level Go to > Settings > Halo Keyboard > Brightness adjustment . Press Fn+F5 to decrease keyboard brightness. Press Fn+F6 to increase keyboard brightness. Silencing the keyboard To turn the touch tone when you type on or off, go to > Settings > Halo Keyboard , then tap the Touch tone switch. Setting the keyboard vibration When typing, you can feel the keyboard slightly vibrate. Keyboard vibration is enabled by default. To set the vibration intensity, go to > Settings > Halo Keyboard > Vibration intensity . To turn keyboard vibration on or off, tap the Vibrate on keypress switch, or press Fn+F1 . Using the touchpad Your tablet has a touchpad located toward the bottom of the keyboard, which allows you to perform gestures such as tapping, scrolling, and dragging. To move the cursor on the screen, slide one finger over the touchpad in the direction you want. To select an app's icon, tap the touchpad. To scroll pages such as app lists, webpages, or documents, slide up or down with two fingers. Notes: To prevent unintentional operations, the touchpad is disabled when typing on the keyboard. To activate the touchpad, tap the center of the touchpad. Setting up the touchpad To enable/disable the touchpad, press Fn+F10 . To set the pointer sensitivity, go to > Settings > Halo Keyboard > Pointer speed . Handwriting You can use the Real Pen included with your device for any features that support inking and instantly turn your writing and drawings into a digital format. Replacing your Real Pen refill Your Real Pen refill kit contains refills for replacement. Choose the refill that best suits the way you write and replace the refill as shown. 1. Use the Real Pen cap remove the refill. Insert the original refill into the hole on the top of the cap. 2. Tilt the pen until cap and refill are locked. 3. Pull out the refill. 4. Insert the refill into the pen until it is locked into place. Enabling the handwriting function To enable the handwriting function, press and hold for one second or tap on the screen. The page thumbnail will be displayed on the lower right corner of the screen. Note: When you enable the handwriting function, the keyboard will be disabled. Starting to write 1. Use the Real Pen with the stylus refill to write within the writing area, or use the Real Pen with ink refill to write on a blank piece of paper covering the keyboard. Note: We recommend using BOOK Pad paper. You can also use other types of paper no thicker than 5 mm. 2. What you write will be displayed in the thumbnail and saved in real -time. To create a new page, double -tap . 3. When writing, you can press the On/Off button to lock the screen. Anything you write during this period will be saved automatically. Press the volume button to create a new page. 4. Press the On/Off button again to turn on the screen. The thumbnail and writing will be displayed on the screen. 5. When you have finished writing, press again to stop writing and save the page. Lenovo Note Saver In the Lenovo Note Saver app, you can create Notes, edit Notes, and share Notes or pages with friends. Notes list Tap Lenovo Note Saver to see a list of all of your Notes. To get you started, a notebook entitled Note Saver has already been created. Tap to create a new Note. Press and hold a Note to customize the notebook cover. Tap a Note's name to edit it. Tap to delete a Note. Tap to add a new page to this Note. Tap and then select a sharing channel such as Gmail or Bluetooth to share this page with others. Tap and enter keywords into the search bar to search for related Notes. Browsing Notes When you are browsing Notes, tap the Note to view all Note pages listed in the preview pane. Then, you can do any of the following: Tap to add a new page. Press and hold a page until it is selected, then tap a second page. When the second page is selected, tap > Merge notes (2 pages) to combine them into a new one that will be displayed at the end of the list. Tap Tap to add a Note tab. to hide/display Note tabs. Tap a page thumbnail to view this page: Swipe left or right to see the next or previous Note. Tap to delete the page. Tap to move the current page to another Note. Choose the Note that you want to move this page to, and then choose Directly move or Copy. Tap and then select a format and a sharing channel such as Gmail or Bluetooth to share this page with others. Editing Notes If you want to edit a page while browsing it, tap in the lower -right corner of the screen to enter edit mode. In edit mode you can draw with the Real Pen or your fingers. Tap to set the pen type and thickness. Tap to set the color of the brush. Tap to erase the area line by line. Tap to add an attachment, such as texts, images and so on. Tap Tap Tap to choose an area of the page to copy, cut or delete. or to go back or go forward. to change the Note's background. Tap to save the current page. Tap to see all pages in this Note. Network You need to set up a wireless network before connecting to the Internet. Set up a WLAN network Set up a mobile network* Set up a VPN network You can also set up a hotspot to share your mobile network with others. Setting up a WLAN network Go to > Settings > WLAN. Turn on the WLAN switch and tap a WLAN hotspot in the list to connect to the Internet. When you are connecting to a secure hotspot, you need to enter your password to connect. Setting up a mobile network* Go to > Settings > More > Mobile networks . Note: You need a valid SIM card with a data service. If you don't have a SIM card, contact your carrier. Setting up a VPN network VPNs are used within organizations to allow you to communicate private information securely over a non -private network. You may need to configure a VPN, for example, to access your work email. Ask the network's administrator for the settings necessary to configure a VPN for your network. Go to Tap > Settings > More > VPN. to edit the VPN profile, including the server name, the type, and the server address, and then tap SAVE . Tap the VPN server name, input the username and password, and then tap CONNECT to connect to the VPN network. Tap to edit or delete the VPN. Note: You need to set a lock screen pattern, PIN or password before using a VPN. Go to Settings > Security > Screen lock to select a screen lock option and set up the screen lock. Setting up a hotspot You can use personal hotspot to share an Internet connection with a computer or other device. Go to Settings > More > Tethering & portable hotspot and do the following: Turn on Portable WLAN hotspot . Tap Set up WLAN hotspot to configure the hotspot. You can also use Bluetooth tethering or USB tethering. Note: Tell your friends the Network name and password, and then they can share your mobile network. Internet You can browse the web if your device is connected to a wireless network or a cellular network. To open the browser app, go to Chrome. Visiting websites You can use the Chrome app to visit websites. Type a web address You don't need to type the full web address of an "http://" website to access it. To visit "http://www.lenovo.com", simply type "www.lenovo.com" into the address bar and tap Go or press the Enter key. Search for keywords You can also type keywords into the address bar to search for webpages. You can set a search engine in > Settings > Search engine . Add a new webpage Tap > New tab to add a new webpage tab. Tap > New incognito tab to visit a website without leaving any traces of your visit. Close a webpage Tap to close a webpage tab. Refresh a webpage Tap to refresh a webpage. Tap > Recent tabs to return to the previous webpages. Tap to go forward to a recent webpage. Saving webpages You can save images and webpages in your device's internal storage. Save images Press and hold the image, then tap Download image . Bookmark webpages Tap to add a webpage to Bookmarks . Tap > Bookmarks to view bookmarks. Setting accessibility preferences Tap > Settings > Accessibility to set text scaling and webpage zoom. Email You can send and receive emails if your device is connected to a wireless network. To access the Gmail app, go to Gmail. Setting up a Gmail account You can sign into Gmail if you have a Gmail account. If not, you will need to create a Gmail account, or you can also sign into an email account provided by another company. Using Email After setting up an email account you can use the Gmail app to send and receive emails. Maps You need to select the following settings before you can use Maps. Go to Settings > Location and enable location access for Google apps. Finding a location Type the address that you want to find, then press Enter. You can also tap , then say the address you want. Current location Tap to see your current location. Then tap Explore around you to check what is nearby. Planning a route Tap and type in the starting location and the destination, or just keep it as "from Your location". Then choose your method of travel Synchronizing You can transfer data, such as music, pictures, videos, documents, Android appliation package (APK) files, and others, between your device and your computer. Connecting your device to your computer Connect your device and your computer using a USB cable. Slide down from the top of the screen, you will see "USB for file transfer " in the notifications bar. Tap USB for file transfer for other options. Selecting the computer connection mode You can select one of the following options: Charge this device : Select this mode if you only want to charge your device. Transfer files : Select this mode if you want to transfer media files such as photos, videos, and ringtones between your device and the computer. Transfer photos (PTP) : Select this mode if you only want to transfer photos and videos between your device and the computer. Use device as MIDI : Select this mode if you want MIDI -enabled apps on your device to work with MIDI software on the computer. Installing APKs Follow these steps: You need to set the device to allow the installation of apps obtained from unknown sources. Go to > Settings > Security , select Unknown sources and tap OK. Copy the APK file from the computer to the device in "Transfer files " mode. Open the apps category in the File Manager . Appendix Important safety and handling information To avoid personal injury, property damage, or accidental damage to the product, read all of the information in this section before using the product. For additional tips to help you operate your device safely, go to http://www.lenovo.com/safety. Handle your device with care Do not drop, bend, or puncture your device; do not insert foreign objects into or place heavy objects on your device. Sensitive components inside might become damaged. Your device screen is made of glass. The glass might break if the device is dropped on a hard surface, is subjected to a high impact, or is crushed by a heavy object. If the glass chips or cracks, do not touch the broken glass or attempt to remove it from the device. Stop using the device immediately and contact Lenovo technical support for repair, replacement, or disposal information. When using your device, keep it away from hot or high -voltage environments, such as electrical appliances, electrical heating equipment, or electrical cooking equipment. Use your device only in the temperature range of 0°C (32°F) to 40°C (104°F) (storage -20°C (-4°F) to 60°C (140°F)) to avoid damage. Don't expose your device to water, rain, extreme humidity, sweat or other liquids. Do not disassemble or modify your device Your device is a sealed unit. There are no end -user serviceable parts inside. All internal repairs must be done by a Lenovo-authorized repair facility or a Lenovo-authorized technician. Attempting to open or modify your device will void the warranty. Built -in rechargeable battery notice Do not attempt to replace the internal rechargeable lithium ion battery. There is risk of explosion if the battery is replaced with an incorrect type. Contact Lenovo Support for factory replacement. Plastic bag notice DANGER: Plastic bags can be dangerous. Keep plastic bags away from babies and children to avoid danger of suffocation. Adapter information Prevent your device and AC adapter from getting wet. Do not immerse your device in water or leave your device in a location where it can come into contact with water or other liquids. Use approved charging methods only. Note: Please only use standard Lenovo power adapters. The use of third -party power adapters will affect the charging speed, resulting in abnormal charging and potential damage to the equipment. Connect a standard power adapter to a suitable power outlet. Use a standard data cable to connect the device to a PC or a device that complies with USB 2.0 or higher. Charging devices might become warm during normal use. Ensure that you have adequate ventilation around the charging device. Unplug the charging device if any of the following occurs: The charging device has been exposed to rain, liquid, or excessive moisture. The charging device shows signs of physical damage. You want to clean the charging device. Warning: Lenovo is not responsible for the performance or safety of products not manufactured or approved by Lenovo. Use only approved Lenovo ac adapters and batteries. Caution about high volume usage Warning: exposure to loud noise from any source for extended periods of time may affect your hearing. The louder the sound, the less time is required before your hearing could be affected. To protect your hearing: Limit the amount of time you use headsets or headphones at high volume. Avoid turning up the volume to block out noisy surroundings. Turn the volume down if you can't hear people speaking near you. If you experience hearing discomfort, including the sensation of pressure or fullness in your ears, ringing in your ears or muffled speech, you should stop listening to the device through your headset or headphones and have your hearing checked. Take care when using your device in a motor vehicle or on a bicycle Always prioritize your safety and the safety of others. Follow the law. Local laws and regulations might govern how you can use mobile electronic devices, such as your device, while you drive a motor vehicle or ride a bicycle. Be aware of heat generated by your device When your device is turned on or the battery is charging, some parts might become hot. The temperature that they reach depends on the amount of system activity and the battery charge level. Extended contact with your body, even through clothing, could cause discomfort or even a skin burn. Avoid keeping your hands, your lap, or any other part of your body in contact with a hot section of the device for any extended time.
