To know if your device works with LTE networks in your country, contact your carrier. Home screen The home screen is the starting point for using your device. For your convenience, the home screen is already set up with some useful apps and widgets. Note: Your device's features and the home screen may be different depending on your location, language, carrier, and device model. You can customize your home screen at any time. Home screen On the home screen, there is a Google Search bar and some useful apps. Preview screen Press and hold anywhere on the home screen except the icons, or press in the top row of the keyboard. At the bottom of the screen are WALLPAPERS and WIDGETS . Add a widget to a home screen Tap at the bottom of the preview screen, press and hold the widget you want to add, then drag it to where you want to place it and release. Change the wallpaper Press and hold anywhere on the home screen except the icons, select WALLPAPERS at the bottom of the screen, and then choose the wallpaper that you like. Go to > Settings > Display > Wallpaper and choose the wallpaper that you like. Move an app to another screen Press and hold an app that you want to move, drag it to the left or right side of the screen, then release it where you want to place it. Uninstall an app 1. Press and hold an app that you want to uninstall. 2. Drag to , and then release and tap OK. Note: Some of the system apps cannot be uninstalled. Taskbar Buttons There are four buttons in the taskbar. Back button : Tap Home button : Tap to return to the previous page. to return to the default home screen. Recent button : Tap to see recent apps. Then you can do the following: Tap an app to open it. Swipe an app window up to close it. Tap to stop running all the apps. App list button : Tap to display all apps on your tablet. Customizing the taskbar The recent app icons are displayed in the taskbar, you can do any of the following: To open an app, tap its icon. When the app icons cannot be completely displayed in the app list, will appear at the side of the taskbar. To see the hidden icons, slide left or right. To adjust the order of the icons in the taskbar, press and hold an app icon until it enlarges slightly, drag it to where you want to place it, and then release it. To close an app, press and hold an app icon unit it enlarges slightly, drag it upward, and then release. Notifications and Quick Settings The Notifications panel informs you of new messages, USB connection, and activities in progress such as file downloading. The Quick Settings panel allows you to access frequently used settings such as the WLAN switch. You can do any of the following: To open the Notifications and Quick Settings panel, press Ctrl + simultaneously. To see notifications, swipe down from the top of the screen. To close the Notifications panel, swipe up from the bottom of the screen. To dismiss a notification, swipe left or right across the notification. To dismiss all notifications, tap at the bottom of the Notifications panel. To open the Quick Settings panel, swipe down from the top of the screen twice. To close the Quick Settings panel, swipe up from the bottom of the screen. Force shutdown Press and hold the Power button for about 10 seconds until the device turns off. Multi-window mode By using the multi -window function, you can run multiple apps on the screen simultaneously. Note: Some apps may not support this feature. Multi -window mode Open an app, and then you can do any of the following: ● To switch between the multi -window mode and the full screen mode, double tap the title bar. ● To move a window, press and hold the title bar, drag it to where you want to place it, and then release it. ● To switch to the full screen mode, press and hold the title bar, and then drag it to the top of the screen. ● To minimize the window, tap the app icon in the taskbar. Tap the icon again to display the window. ● To pin or unpin the app, tap ● To close the app, tap or . or drag the window to Close at the bottom of the screen. Halo Keyboard Your tablet has a physical keyboard with backlights and a touchpad at the bottom edge. You can also perform some operations using the keyboard and touchpad, without the use of the touch screen. Note: The layout of your keyboard may be different depending on your location. Hotkeys One key To help you access frequently -used tasks quickly, special hotkeys are located on the top row of the keyboard. Key icon Function Mute the volume Turn the volume down Turn the volume up Mute the microphone Decrease the screen brightness Increase the screen brightness Open the Google search bar Turn on the WLAN connection Open all apps list Change input methods/go to keyboard settings Enter edit screen Take screenshot Space When the screen is locked, press it to unlock the screen Hotkeys combinations Key icon Function Alt+F4 Close current app Alt+Tab Switch between running apps Ctrl+Alt+Delete Lock screen Function key combinations Through the use of the function keys, you can change operational features instantly. To use this function, press and hold Fn which is located on the last row of the keyboard; then press one of the function keys. The following describes the features of each function key. Key icon Fn+F1 Fn+F5/F6 Fn+Esc Function Turn on/off of the keyboard vibration Adjust the keyboard backlight brightness Keep the Fn key enabled by default Keyboard settings Changing your keyboard layout, input method and input language Your keyboard layout may vary based on your location and language. To change your keyboard, do any of the following: Go to Settings > Language & input > Halo Keyboard , and then choose the keyboard you want. Or tap SET UP KEYBOARD LAYOUTS, choose the keyboard you want and add it to the layout list. Press F10 to choose the input method. Press Shift+Space to switch between input languages. Setting up your Halo Keyboard Adjusting the brightness level Go to Settings > Halo Keyboard > Brightness adjustment . Press Fn+F5 to decrease the keyboard brightness. Press Fn+F6 to increase the keyboard brightness. Silencing the keyboard To turn on or off the touch tone when you type, tap the Touch tone switch. Setting the keyboard vibration When you press the keys, you can feel slight vibration of the keyboard. Keyboard vibration is enabled by default. To set the vibration intensity, go to Settings > Halo Keyboard > Vibration intensity . To turn keyboard vibration on or off, tap Vibrate on keypress switch, or press Fn+F1 . Using the touchpad Your tablet has a touchpad at the bottom of the keyboard, which allows you to perform gestures such as tapping, scrolling, and dragging. To move the cursor on the screen, slide your finger over the touchpad in the direction you want. To tap on an app's icon, tap the touchpad. To scroll pages such as app lists, webpages, or documents, press the touchpad for 1 second and slide up or down with one finger. Notes: To prevent unintentional operation, touchpad is disabled when typing on the keyboard. To activate the touchpad, tap in the center of the touchpad. Setting up the touchpad To set the pointer speed, go to Settings > Language & input > Pointer speed . Positioning the display panel The display panel can be opened to any angle up to 360 degrees. Positioning the display panel Rotate the display panel, and then you can do any of the following: ● Type Mode Suitable for tasks that require the keyboard and touchpad (such as creating documents, writing emails, and so on). ● Watch Mode Suitable for tasks that require limited interaction with the touch screen (such as viewing photos, watching videos, and so on). ● Browse Mode Suitable for tasks that require frequent use of the touch screen (such as surfing the Web, playing games, and so on). Note: Your Halo Keyboard will automatically turn off when its angle exceeds 180 degrees, preventing you from accidentally pressing the keys. Network You need to set up a wireless network before connecting to the Internet. Set up a WLAN network Set up a mobile network* Set up a VPN network You can also set up a hotspot to share your mobile network with others. Setting up a WLAN network Go to > Settings > WLAN. Turn on the WLAN switch and tap a WLAN hotspot in the list to connect to the Internet. When you are connecting to a secure hotspot, you need to enter your password to connect. Setting up a mobile network* Go to > Settings > Data usage . Note: You need a valid SIM card with a data service. If you don't have a SIM card, contact your carrier. Setting up a VPN network VPNs are used within organizations to allow you to communicate private information securely over a non -private network. You may need to configure a VPN, for example, to access your work email. Ask the network's administrator for the settings necessary to configure a VPN for your network. Go to Tap > Settings > More > VPN. to edit the VPN profile, including the server name, the type, and the server address, and then tap SAVE . Tap the VPN server name, input the username and password, and then tap CONNECT to connect to the VPN network. Tap to edit or delete the VPN. Note: You need to set a lock screen pattern, PIN or password before using a VPN. Go to Settings > Security > Screen lock to select a screen lock option and set up the screen lock. Setting up a hotspot You can use personal hotspot to share an Internet connection with a computer or other device. Go to Settings > More > Tethering & portable hotspot and do the following: Turn on Portable WLAN hotspot . Tap Set up WLAN hotspot to configure the hotspot. You can also use Bluetooth tethering or USB tethering. Note: Tell your friends the Network name and password, and then they can share your mobile network. Internet You can browse the web if your device is connected to a wireless network or a cellular network. To open the browser app, go to Chrome. Visiting websites You can use the Chrome app to visit websites. Type a web address You don't need to type the full web address of a "http://" website to access it. To visit "http://www.lenovo.com", simply type "www.lenovo.com" into the address bar and tap Go or press Enter key. Search for keywords You can also type keywords into the address bar to search for webpages. You can set a search engine in > Settings > Search engine . Add a new webpage Tap > New tab to add a new webpage tab. Tap > New incognito tab to visit a website without leaving any traces of your visit. Close a webpage Tap If to close a webpage tab. not appear in the page tab, you have to tap preview list. Email You can send and receive emails if your device is connected to a wireless network. To access the Email app, go to Email or Gmail. Setting up a Gmail account You can sign into Gmail if you have a Gmail account. If not, you will need to create a Gmail account, and you can also sign in email accounts provided by other company. Using Email After setting up an email account you can use the Email or Gmail app to send and receive emails. Maps You need to select the following settings before you can use Maps. Go to Settings > Location and enable location access for Google apps. Finding a location Type the address that you want to find, then press Enter. You can also tap , then say the address you want. Current location Tap to see your current location. Then tap Explore around you to check what is nearby. Planning a route Tap and type in the "from" and "to" addresses, or just keep it as "from Your location". Choose the travel mode: by car, by bus, or on foot. Synchronizing You can transfer data between your device and computer such as music, pictures, videos, documents, Android application package (APK) files, and so on. Connecting your device to your computer Connect your device and computer using a USB cable. Slide down from the top of the screen, you will see "USB for file transfer " in the notifications bar. Tap USB for file transfer for other options. Selecting the computer connection mode You can select one of the following options: Charging : Select this mode if you want to charge your phone only. File transfers: Select this mode if you want to transfer media files such as photos, videos, and ringtones between your tablet and the computer. Photo transfers (PTP) : Select this mode if you only want to transfer only photos and videos between your tablet and the computer. MIDI : Select this mode if you want MIDI -enabled apps on your device to work with MIDI software on the computer. Installing APKs Follow these steps: You need to set the device to allow the installation of apps obtained from unknown sources. Go to Settings > Security , select Unknown sources and tap OK. Copy the APK file from the computer to the device in "File transfers" mode. Open the apps category in the File manager . Appendix Important safety and handling information To avoid personal injury, property damage, or accidental damage to the product, read all of the information in this section before using the product. Handle your device with care Do not drop, bend, or puncture your device; do not insert foreign objects into or place heavy objects on your device. Sensitive components inside might become damaged. Your device screen is made of glass. The glass might break if the device is dropped on a hard surface, is subjected to a high impact, or is crushed by a heavy object. If the glass chips or cracks, do not touch the broken glass or attempt to remove it from the device. Stop using the device immediately and contact Lenovo technical support for repair, replacement, or disposal information. When using your device, keep it away from hot or high -voltage environments, such as electrical appliances, electrical heating equipment, or electrical cooking equipment. Use your device only in the temperature range of 0°C (32°F) to 40°C (104°F) (storage -20°C (-4°F) to 60°C (140°F)) to avoid damage. Don't expose your device to water, rain, extreme humidity, sweat or other liquids. Do not disassemble or modify your device Your device is a sealed unit. There are no end -user serviceable parts inside. All internal repairs must be done by a Lenovo-authorized repair facility or a Lenovo-authorized technician. Attempting to open or modify your device will void the warranty. Built -in rechargeable battery notice Do not attempt to replace the internal rechargeable lithium ion battery. There is risk of explosion if the battery is replaced with an incorrect type. Contact Lenovo Support for factory replacement. Plastic bag notice DANGER: Plastic bags can be dangerous. Keep plastic bags away from babies and children to avoid danger of suffocation. Adapter information Prevent your device and AC adapter from getting wet. Do not immerse your device in water or leave your device in a location where it can come into contact with water or other liquids. Use approved charging methods only. You can use any of the following charging methods to safely recharge the internal battery of your device: Charging method Display on Display off AC adapter Supported, but the battery will charge slowly. Avoid turning up the volume to block out noisy surroundings. Turn the volume down if you can't hear people speaking near you. If you experience hearing discomfort, including the sensation of pressure or fullness in your ears, ringing in your ears or muffled speech, you should stop listening to the device through your headset or headphones and have your hearing checked. Take care when using your device in a motor vehicle or on a bicycle Always prioritize your safety and the safety of others. Follow the law. Local laws and regulations might govern how you can use mobile electronic devices, such as your device, while you drive a motor vehicle or ride a bicycle. Dispose according to local laws and regulations When your device reaches the end of its useful life, do not crush, incinerate, immerse in water, or dispose of your device in any manner contrary to local laws and regulations. The temperature that they reach depends on the amount of system activity and the battery charge level. Extended contact with your body, even through clothing, could cause discomfort or even a skin burn. Avoid keeping your hands, your lap, or any other part of your body in contact with a hot section of the device for any extended time.
