Installing another language control panelThese instructions apply only if you received one or more additional language control panels with the printer.1Lift and remove the control panel (if one is installed).2Choose the correct control panel for your language.3Align the clips on the control panel with the holes on the printer, and then press down.Lexmark Confidential until announcedSetting up the printer13
Networking the printerInstalling the printer on a networkFollow the instructions for the networking method you want to use. Make sure the selected network is set up and workingproperly, and that all relevant devices are turned on. For more information on your specific network, see your networkdocumentation or consult the person who set up the network.Installing an internal wireless print serverThe printer you purchased may contain an internal wireless print server that allows the printer to be used on a wirelessnetwork. If your printer does not have an internal wireless print server already installed, you can purchase one separately.Use the following instructions to install the internal wireless print server:1Turn off your printer, and then unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.CAUTION: Failure to unplug the printer can cause damage to your printer and to the internal wireless print server.Make sure the printer is turned off and the power cord is unplugged from the wall outlet before you proceed.2Remove the back cover plate by pushing the tab down and then pulling the cover away from the printer.3Unpack the internal wireless print server. Save the packaging materials.CAUTION: Wireless print servers are easily damaged by static electricity. Touch something metal such as the printerframe before you touch the wireless print server.4Align the edges of the internal wireless print server with the guides on the left and right, and then slide the wirelessprint server into the printer until it snaps into place.5Make sure the antenna points up.6Attach the adhesive label with the MAC address to the back of the printer. You will need this later to in order to networkthe printer.You are now ready to configure the internal wireless print server to work on your wireless network.Finding your MAC addressIn order to complete the network configuration of your printer, you may need the media access control (MAC) address ofthe printer or print server. The MAC address is a series of letters and numbers located on the back of your printer.If you purchased the internal wireless print server separately, the MAC address appears on an adhesive label that camewith the wireless print server.
