Sitter II
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Sitter II is a multi-purpose on-premise paging system.
ƒ This unit plugs into an existing Posey alert system to provide secondary alert to the main hard wire system
ƒ The pass through security contact alerts a staff pager of a call to the nurse station.
ƒ A test push button is available ensures the system operation and also is used as a page acknowledged button.
ƒ Built in rechargeable batteries ensure operation in event of power outage.
ƒ The unit can be individually programmed to provide call location and time.
ƒ The pagers used with the system can vibrate, beep and display stored messages.

INSTALLATION AND SETUP
Installation Procedure
The following is the basic installation procedure. Systems are set for the most general use. If you have specific changes,
refer to the appropriate section of this manual.
1. Unwrap all Sitter II components.
2. The following items are included with this unit.
1 – Sitter II Transmitter
1 – Software CD
1 – Programming Cable
1 – 7.5 VDC Charging adapter
1 – Programming Booklet
3. Connect the 7.5 VDC adapter to the Sitter II
4. Install the Sitter II programming software on your computer.
5. Connect the programming cable from your computer to the connector on the side of the Sitter II.
6. Program the contact switch input to page the desired pager(s).
7. Mount the Sitter II into the Posey Alarm station where desired.
8. Press the test button to test the system (transmitter and pager(s).
9. The system is ready for operation.
Installation Checklist
When Installing the Sitter II:
‰ Be sure the Sitter II is programmed the way you want it.
‰ Mount the Sitter II where you want it and connect the battery charger.
‰ Press the “Test” button (twice) and be sure your pager receives the message.
‰ Test the detector and be sure the pager receives the right message.

Basic Operating Instructions
Connect the Sitter II to your computer and set the security sensor input to page your pager(s). When the sensor is
activated, your pagers will be called. Some possibilities are (see your programming instruction):

Note: Systems are not programmed when shipped. The following describes the basic programming procedure.

Install the Sitter II programming software on your computer.
Start the program.
Connect the 7.5 VDC battery charger to the Sitter II.
Connect the programming cable from the computer serial port to the Sitter II programming connector.
At the programming screen, select the COM port used (usually COM 1).
Program the sensor switch input to page the desired pager(s) with the desired information.
After the functions are set, press the Update Unit button to load the Sitter II.
When finished, install the Sitter II where you will use it and put it into service.
Programming Screen
The Programming Screen controls all the functions loaded into
the Sitter II and programming of pagers.
Posey Commands Section
Update Unit – Loads the functions set on the screen into the
Sitter II.
Set Pager Time – Used to send the current time and date to the
numeric pagers.
Read Unit – Polls the Sitter II and displays its current functions.
Pgm Pagers – If on air programmable pagers are used, this
enables a screen to program them with the Sitter II.
Global Settings Section
Serial Num: – This is the serial number retrieved from the unit
being programmed (not input by user).
Sys ID: - This is the identification of the paging ID (0 through 12)
used with the system. This is used to prevent interference
from other systems that may be using a similar POCSAG
paging scheme.
Primary Caregiver Pager: – This is the number of the pager (1 through 9999) carried by the primary person that will
respond to an alarm from the system.
Name/Rm Num: - The name of the patient being monitored and/or the room and/or bed number that will appear on the
caregiver’s pager.
Page on Low Battery: - This box will be checked if the caregiver is to be notified that the battery in the Sitter II is getting
low and needs attention.
Page Acknowledge Section
On/Off: – This box is checked if a backup caregiver or supervisor is to be paged in case the primary caregiver does not
respond (unchecked is off).
Re-page Count: - How many times must the primary caregiver be paged before the backup caregiver or supervisor is
paged.
Re-page interval: – The period of time between pages to the primary caregiver (mm:ss).
Second Caregiver Pager: – This is the number of the pager (1 through 9999) carried by the backup caregiver or
supervisor.
Page Messages Section
Primary Sensor Message: – The alert message sent following the room/patient identifier (default Patient out of bed).
Second Pager Message: – When Page Acknowledge is enabled, the alert message sent following the room/patient
identifier when the primary caregiver does not respond (default Page not acknowledged).
Test/Reset On: - This enables or disables the test and reset (response) button on the Sitter II.
Sitter II
Programming Pagers
The Program Pager ID Screen sets up and loads the pager functions into the staff pagers. The serial cable must be
connected from the computer to the Sitter II.
To program Over the Air Programmable pagers (Note: Non Over the Air
Programmable Pagers are programmed on a separate fixture):
1. Be sure the pagers have new batteries and are turned off (the word OFF
appears in the display).
2. Enter the System ID (system number, default = 0) to be assigned to the
pager you are programming. . Caution: Setting this ID also changes the
System ID of the Sitter II. Be sure the System ID of the pagers match the
System ID of the Sitter II you are using.
3. Enter the Pager ID (pager number) to be assigned to the pager you are
programming.
4. Enter the All Page ID (All page number, default 911) to be assigned to the
pager you are programming.
5. Press the ON/OFF key on the pager until it vibrates and beeps.
6. When the pager stops beeping, press the Send button.
7. After the pager has programmed turn it off (The pager will beep 3 sets of 2 beeps during programming).
8. Repeat with all remaining pagers.
9. When finished press Done.
10. Turn on the pagers and page them one by one to ensure they are properly programmed.
Help Menu
The Help drop down menu enables the HELP file which contains all the information in this manual.
Tools Menu
The tools menu is used to initialize the Sitter II to the original factory defaults. This eliminates any corrupted data that may
be in the unit .

SITTER II SPECIFICATIONS
Specification
Description: The unit is a low power transmitter that generates NBFM signals to UHF paging receivers.
Required voltage: One 7.5-VDC battery charger for the transmitter.
Operating Frequency: 467.750MHz.
Modulation Rate: Maximum of 1200bps
Transmit Power Within CFR 47 part 15 limits for an intentional radiator.
Signal Encoding: POCSAG encoded.
Signal Definition: Upon detection of an external switch closure, the unit transmits a POCSAG signal defined by the serial
configuration interface.
Operating Range: (unobstructed) Up to 1/4 mile

My System is malfunctioning - What do I do?
Should your paging system ever fail to function properly, Call Posey at XXXXXXXXXX Monday through Friday 8:30 am
to 5:00 pm Eastern Time.
• After hours, please leave a message on the technical support line (x32).
• Long Range will return the call as soon as possibly
• During weekends Long Range technicians are normally paged whenever a message is left on the tech support line.
• Please keep in mind that options are limited over the weekend.
What about repairing my system after the warranty expires?
We suggest calling Posey before sending a non-warranty item in for repair.
** Out of warranty items will be repaired and sent back C.O.D.
