ManiWay Owner's Manual 2.1CH Sound base with Built-in Subwoofer PLEASE READ BEFORE OPERATING THIS EQUIPMENT. Model No.: MW-1585 IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS 1. Read these instructions. 2. Keep these instructions. 3. Heed warnings. 4. Follow all instructions. 5. Do not use this apparatus near water. 6. Clean only with dry cloth. 7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacture’s instructions. 8. Do not install near any heat source such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat. 9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong is provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet. 10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus . 11. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer. 12. Unplug the apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time. 13. Refer all serving to qualified personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped. 14. If the battery compartment does not close securely, stop using the product and keep it away from children. - If you think batteries might have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention. 15. This equipment is a Class II or double insulated electrical appliance. It has been designed in such a way that it does not require a safety connection to electrical earth. Warning This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. 1. To prevent possible hearing damage, do not listen at high volume levels for long time periods respectively a sudden high volume level. 2. Never use the device unsupervised! Switch off the device whenever you are not using it, even if this only for a short while. 3. The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote control system. 4. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. 5. Before operating this system, check the voltage of this system to see if it is identical to the voltage of your local power supply. 6. The unit should not be impeded by covering the ventilation opening with items such as newspaper, table-cloths, curtains etc. Make sure that there are at least 20 cm of space above and at least 5 cm of space on each side of the unit. 7. The apparatus must not be exposed to dripping or splashing and that objects filled with liquids, such as vases, must not be placed on the apparatus. 8. To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose this equipment to hot places, rain, moisture or dust. 9. Do not locate this unit near any water sources e.g. taps, bathtubs, washing machines or swimming pools. Ensure that you place the unit on a dry, stable surface. 10. Do not place this unit close to a strong magnetic field. 11. Do not place the unit on a amplifier or receiver. 12. Do not place this unit in a damp area as the moisture will affect the life of electric components. 13. If the system is brought directly from a cold to a warm location, or is placed in a very damp room, moisture may condense on the lens inside the player. If this occurs, the system will not operate properly. Please leave the system turned on for about an hour until the moisture evaporates. 14. Do not attempt to clean the unit with chemical solvents as this might damage the finish. Wipe with a clean, dry or slightly damp cloth. 15. When removing the power plug from the wall outlet, always pull directly on the plug, never pull on the cord. 16. The mains plug is used as the disconnect device, the disconnect device must remain readily operable. CAUTION To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not dismantle the product and do not expose the apparatus to rain or moisture. No user-serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified personnel only. Explanation of Graphical Symbols: The lightning flash within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert you to the presence of un-insulated dangerous voltage within the product's enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute an electric shock to a person or persons. The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert you to the presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying the product. To achieve the utmost in enjoyment and performance, and in order to become familiar with its features, please read this manual carefully before attempting to operate this product. This will assure you years of trouble free performance and listening pleasure. Important Notes This safety and operating instruction should be retained for future reference. The apparatus should not be exposed to dripping or splashing or placed in a humid atmosphere such as a bathroom. Do not install the product in the following areas: Places exposed to direct sunlight or close to radiators. On top of other stereo equipment that radiate too much heat. Blocking ventilation or in a dusty area. Areas where there is constant vibration. Humid or moist places. Do not place near candles or other naked flames. Operate the product only as instructed in this manual. Before turning on the power for the first time, make sure the power adaptor is properly connected. For safety reasons, do not remove any covers or attempt to gain access to the inside of the product. Refer any servicing to qualified personnel. Do not attempt to remove any screws, or open the casing of the unit; there are no user serviceable parts inside. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. MODE : Press to Switch the mode 3. RESET : Switch to default mode state 4. MUTE : Mute or resume the sound. Note: When Mute is on, the LED will switches slowly. 5.MOVIE : Press to choose Movie surround sound effect. Press again to choose Music sound effect 6. ▲: Press to adjust volume level up. 7. : In Bluetooth/USB mode, skip to previous track. 8. : In Bluetooth/USB mode, skip to next track. 9. : In Bluetooth/USB mode, start or pause playback. -If the speaker is already connected and you would like to connect to a different device, press and hold for 3 seconds to break the current connection and initiate pairing. 10. : Press to adjust volume level down. 11. BASS+ : In Music sound effect , press to adjust bass level up. 12. BASS- : In Music sound effect , press to adjust bass level down. 13. TRE+ : In Music sound effect , press to adjust treble level up 14. TRE- : In Music sound effect , press to adjust treble level down PREPARATIONS Prepare The Remote Control The provided remote control allows the unit to be operated from a distance. • Even if the Remote Control is operated within the effective range (up to 6m), remote control operation may be impossible if there are any obstacles between the unit and the remote control. • If the Remote Control is operated near other products which generate infrared rays, or if other remote control devices using infra-red rays are used near the unit, it may operate incorrectly. Conversely, the other products may operate incorrectly. Remove the protective tab for first-time use or replace the battery of remote control The Remote Control has a pre-installed lithium CR2032 battery. Remove the protective tab to activate the remote control battery. Use a screwdriver to remove the screw(A) Remove the battery compartment cover(B) Remove the protective tab from the battery. Place the battery into the foreseen area. Make sure that the side marked with + is facing up, as shown in the illustration. After inserting the battery, replace the battery compartment cover (B) . First insert the flap (C) into the foreseen gap of the battery compartment. After fully close the battery compartment cover (B) Secure with the screw (A) If the remote control does not work properly, replace the battery. Use batteries of high quality only. Batteries of low quality might leak and cause damage. Note: Remove the battery, if the remote control is not to be used for a longer period of time, as it might be damaged by leaking batteries. Precautions Concerning Batteries 1. When the Remote Control is not to be used for a long time (more than a month), remove the battery from the Remote Control to prevent it from leaking. 2. If the batteries leak, wipe away the leakage inside the battery compartment and replace the batteries with new ones. 3. Do not use any batteries other than those specified. 4. Do not heat or disassemble batteries. Never throw them in fire or water. 5. Do not carry or store batteries with other metallic objects. Doing so could cause batteries to short circuit, leak or explode. CONNECTING AN EXTERNAL DEVICE USING AN HDMI CABLE HDMI is the standard digital interface for connecting to TVs, projectors, DVD players, Blu-ray players, set top boxes, and more. HDMI is an interface that enables the digital transmission of video and audio data with just a single connector. HDMI prevents any degradation to the signal due to conversion to analog and maintains the video and audio quality of the original digital source. HDMI IN-1 & HDMI IN-2 Connect an HDMI cable (not supplied) from the HDMI IN-1 or HDMI IN-2 jack on the back of the product to the HDMI OUT jack on your digital device. HDMI OUT TO TV (ARC) Connect an HDMI cable (not supplied) from the HDMI OUT TO TV (ARC) jack on the back of the product to the HDMI IN jack on your TV. ARC (Audio Return Channel) Function The ARC function allows digital audio to output via the HDMI OUT (ARC) port. It can be enabled only when the Sound bar is connected to a TV that supports the ARC function ●Note: This function is not available if the HDMI cable does not support ARC. CONNECTING AN EXTERNAL DEVICE USING 3.5-RCA ADUIO (ANALOG) CABLE OR COAXIAL/OPTICAL (DIGITAL) CABLE *Not all TVs have the audio outputs shown above. To connect the Sound base directly to your other devices (Blu-ray player, game system, etc) see your device’s user manual. Connect Power - Ensure that the power supply voltage corresponds to the voltage printed on the back or the underside of the unit. - Before connecting the AC power cord, ensure you have completed all other connections. -Connect the mains plug of the main unit to a mains socket. - Ensure all connections are connected before connecting to the mains power socket. BASIC OPERATION ON/OFF button on the main unit or press the button on the remote • Press and hold control to switch the main unit on. The LED Display window will light on • Press and hold the button on the main unit or press the button on the remote control to switch the main unit off. The LED Display window will light off Select Modes Short press the button on the main unit or the MODE Button repeatedly to select different input mode. Notes: -The LED display will go off automatically if the sound bar is sitting idle and no input signals are being received for about 5 minutes, press any button once to light up the display again. -When the sound base is sitting idle and no input signals are being received for about one hour, the sound bar will automatically switch to Standby mode Adjust the Volume • Press the +/– button on the main unit or ▲/ button on remote control to adjust the volume level. • While adjusting the volume, the LED Display window shows the volume level. The volume range from as low as level 0 to as high as level 32, • If you wish to turn the sound off, press the MUTE button on the remote control, the sound will be mute, meanwhile, the LED words will switch between Mute and the modes you are playing . Press the MUTE Button again or press the VOL +/- button to resume normal listening. ARC (HDMI OUT) ARC(Audio Return Channel) transfers digital audio signal to the HDMI OUT(ARC) port. 1. 2. Connect the TV supporting ARC to the Sound base with an HDMI cable. Tum on the TV, and turn on the Sound base. 3. Press the the button on the main unit or MODE button on the remote control repeatedly to select ARC mode NOTE: If the HDMI cable does not support ARC feature, ARC may not work property. PLAYBACK WITH BLUETOOTH DEVICE This device offers you the possibility to use a Bluetooth enabled device. The functional radius is limited to approx.10 metres depending on the surroundings and the unit used. If your playing device supports the A2DP profile (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) and has a music-player function, then you can also wirelessly transfer music to the device. The A2DP profile involves a multi-vendor Bluetooth profile. By streaming, stereo-audio signals are wirelessly transferred between the playing device (source) and the receiving device. Due to the different device manufacturers, models, and software versions, a full functionality cannot be guaranteed. Logging on devices (Pairing) Before using your speaker with a compatible device, such as a mobile phone, for the first time, you must pair and connect it to the device. 1. Ensure, that the Bluetooth function is activated in your player (e.g. mobile phone). For this, refer to the operation manual of your player. 2. While Bluetooth mode. The LED words flashes quickly to show that the pairing mode is activated. Pair the Speaker 1. If you haven’t paired the speaker with a device, or the paired devices list is empty, pairing mode is activated. 2. Activate Bluetooth on the compatible device, and set it to search for compatible devices. 3. Select the speaker name:”MW-1585” from the list of found devices. Note: Only one playback unit can be connected to the speaker. If the speaker is connected to another playback unit, the speaker will not appear in the Bluetooth selection list. If your device asks for a passkey (depending on the device manufacturers, model, and software version), then enter digits “0000”(four zeros) and press OK. If pairing has been carried out successfully, the words “BT” on the LED display window stops flashing. 4. After connected completely, you can listen to music wirelessly through Bluetooth and select music in Bluetooth device. 5. To disconnect the Bluetooth function, switch to another function on the unit or disable the function from your Bluetooth device. Tips: 1.If a mobile phone on which you are playing music receives a call, the music will be interrupted. The sound however is not played back via the speaker. After you have ended the call, the devices are connected to each other again and playback continues. 2. If there is an existing connection, press and hold the button on the remote control for 3 seconds to break the current connection and initiate pairing mode 3. The player will also be disconnected when your device is moved beyond the operational range. If you want to reconnect your device to this player, place it within the operational range. 4. If the device is moved beyond the operational range, when it is brought back, please check if the device is still connected to the player. 5. If the connection is lost, follow the instructions above to pair your device to the player again. 6.The Bluetooth compatibility cannot be ensured for devices (e.g. mobile phones) getting released in the future. 7.To ensure an optimal connection, make sure that the battery of your player is completely charged. OPTICAL/COAXIAL (DIGITAL INPUTS) OPERATION 1. Ensure that the unit is well connected to the TV or other audio device via Optical or Coaxial cables (not included). 2. While in Power On mode, press the button on the main unit repeatedly or press the OPTICAL or COAX button on remote control to select the relevant OPTICAL or COAXIAL mode. 3. Operate your audio device directly for playback features. Note: If there is no sound come out from the soundbase and the status indicator light flashes quickly, Make sure the audio (digital output) setting of your source player (e.g. TV, DVD player, game player) is set to PCM. 3.5MM AUX/RCA INPUTS OPERATION 1. Ensure that the unit is well connected to the TV or other audio device via the accompanied 3.5mm-RCA cable. 2. While in Power On mode, press the E button on the main unit repeatedly or press the AUX/RCA button on remote control to select the AUX/RCA input mode. 3. Operate your audio device directly for playback features. Note: If you want to play it via RCA input, make sure the 3.5mm Aux in socket is not plugged in USB PLAYBACK This Sound Base has also been developed in line with the latest technical advances in the USB filed. The wide range of different USB storage devices of all types which are currently on the market, unfortunately do not allow us to guarantee full compatibility with all USB storage devices. For this reason, in rare cases there may be problems in playing back files from USB storage devices. This is not a malfunction of the device. 1. While in Power On mode, press the button on the main unit repeatedly until the status indicator changed to yellow or press the USB button on remote control directly to select the USB mode. 2. Connect a USB storage device directly into the port, after a few seconds, it will start music playback automatically. Note: Always directly connect a USB storage medium to the USB port to prevent any malfunctions. Troubleshooting Guide Should you experience difficulties in the use of this player, please refer to the following chart.
