Use the Setup Wizard to perform connections and settings as shown in the following steps. Perform the operations as described in the instructions on the screen. You can skip or cancel at each section if necessary. 1 4 Language Select Language Select Please select the language for the on screen menu. English Español Set the language for the instructions on the television screen. These settings can be changed in the following menu even after setting the Setup Wizard (vm page 106 “Language”). 2 Speaker Connection Connect the speakers for surround sound. NOTE Please select the speaker configuration to be used. 5.1ch 7.1ch Others 7.1ch adds 2 more speakers to 5.1ch, for enhanced surround. Connections for speakers other than 7.1 channel or 5.1 channel speakers cannot be set using the Setup Wizard. Select “Others”, and then select “Skip” in “2. Speaker Connection” to proceed to “3. Speaker Calibration”. (For details on the setting method, see m page 58 “Speaker installation/connection (Advanced connection)”.) 3 Speaker Calibration Configure the settings for your speakers, and for the optimum surround sound for your room. Network Setup Configure to playback audio files saved onto a computer or Internet radio. Network Setup Please connect LAN cable to ETHERNET port on rear panel of receiver, and other side of cable to network router. When connection is complete, press [ENTER] to continue. These settings can be changed in the following menu even after setting the Setup Wizard (vm page 99 “Network Setup”). This completes the Setup Wizard. Speaker Calibration These settings can be changed in the following menu even after setting the Setup Wizard (vm page 19 “Set up speakers (Audyssey® Auto Setup)”). 4 Please select device. Speaker Connection” of the Setup Wizard but if you did not use or cancelled the Setup Wizard, connect the speakers as shown below. For details, see the included CD-ROM (Owner’s manual). Connect 7.1-channel 5.1-channel Carefully check the left (L) and right (R) channels and + (red) and – (black) polarities on the speakers being connected to the this unit, and be sure to interconnect the channels and polarities correctly. Connecting the speaker cables Peel off about 0.03 ft/10 mm of sheathing from the tip of the speaker cable, then either twist the core wire tightly or terminate it. NOTE • Connect so that the speaker cable core wires do not protrude from the speaker terminal. The protection circuit may be activated if the core wires touch the rear panel or if the + and – sides touch each other (vm page 134 “Protection Circuit”). • Never touch the speaker terminals while the power supply is connected. Doing so could result in electric shock. (When the Setup Wizard is running, follow the instructions in the Setup Wizard screen for making connections.) • Use speakers with the speaker impedances shown below. For details, see the included CD-ROM (Owner’s manual). Important information Before starting playback, make the connections between the different devices and the settings on the unit. Selecting the input source When an input source select button (BD, DVD, SAT, TV, CD, NET/USB, TUNER or M-XP) is pressed once, the unit switches to device selected by the operating mode of the remote control. If the input source select button is then pressed again twice, the input source for the unit is switched. • When 21 is pressed, the input source of this unit is switched to “NET/USB” and the connected iPod is automatically played (vm page 30 “iPod play function”). • Select input source “AUX” to play back music from an audio system connected to the AUX IN connector. • The input source “GAME” is selected to playback from a game device connected to GAME connector of HDMI IN. • Select the input source “VCR”, “GAME” or “AUX” using one of the following methods. • SOURCE df button on the remote control unit (“Using the SOURCE df button on the remote control unit” provided on the right) • INPUT SELECTOR knob on the main unit (“Using the knob on the main unit” provided on the right) • “Source Select” menu (“Using the “Source Select” menu”provided on the right) nnUsing the SOURCE d f button on the remote control unit Press SOURCE d or SOURCE f. • Every time you press SOURCE d or SOURCE f, the input source switches in the following order. You can also use the following operation to select an input source. Setup Wizard NOTE Also refer to the operating instructions of the connected devices when playing them. AUX NET/USB • When using with an iPod connected directly to the USB port of this unit, select “USB/iPod” for the input source. • Input sources that are not going to be used can be set ahead of time.
