Bluelink Universal User Manual
Bluelink Universal Bluelink Universal is a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) interface which allows a dive computer to communicate with a smart device via a dedicated app. The smart device must be compatible with Bluetooth Low Energy 4.0. The app allows the smart device to connect to the dive computer in order to do the following: Read information (such as model and serial number) Download the logbook (data download) Upgrade the firmware (data upload) Bluelink Universal is compatible with the following Mares dive computers: Icon HD Net Ready Matrix Nemo Wide (all versions) Puck Bluelink Universal connects to a dive computer via the USB cable coming from the standard interface (the one with which one connects to PC or Mac). Operating mode. When Bluelink Universal is not in use it remains in a low power mode in order to preserve the battery. This is referred to as DeepSleep. To establish a connection to the smart device follow this procedure: • • Place the Dive Computer into “PC Ready” mode. See dive computer manual for details. Connect the dive computer to the standard interface with the USB cable. • Connect the other end of the USB cable to Bluelink Universal. Bluelink has two LEDs and • • • • • • • upon first connecting it to a dive computer in PC READY Mode, one LED will turn on to a steady pink/purple for 5 seconds after which it will blink for 55 seconds. The other LED is green and will blink throughout the 60 seconds. During these 55 seconds Bluelink Universal is ready to communicate with the smart device. If no communication takes place between Bluelink Universal and the smart device within these 55 seconds, Bluelink Universal returns to DeepSleep mode to preserve the battery and the LED turns off. A connection attempt started now will fail because Bluelink Universal has returned to DeepSleep mode. To wake up Bluelink Universal in order to initiate a new connection, disconnect Bluelink Universal from the dive computer then reconnect it. The pink/purple LED will turn on steady for 5 seconds then blink for another 55 seconds. To start a communication, open the app and initiate the connection (see app instructions on how to do this). Once the connection has been established, the pink/purple LED turns green and the devices are ready to communicate. If once the light has turned green no data is exchanged for 60 seconds, the LED starts blinking in red to alert the user that the session is about to expire. If no data is exchanged for another 30 seconds, the connection is terminated and Bluelink Pro goes into DeepSleep. While the light is green or red, as soon as there is data exchange, the 60+30 second countdown is reset to zero. If the connection is terminated by the app, for instance because the user closes the app, Bluelink Pro will show a blinking pink/purple LED and a blinking green LED for 60 seconds, allowing a new connection to be set up during this time. Battery replacement Battery type: Lithium Ion, 3V, type CR123A The life of the battery depends on the number of connections performed. As a reference, with 200 connections per year the battery will last approximately one year. To replace the battery, unscrew the bottom cover of the case by removing the four screws then lift the cover to expose the battery compartment. Remove the battery and put the new battery in place, making sure you respect the correct polarity (+ pointing outwards). Product identification Serial number and MAC address are located under the battery compartment cover. DISPOSAL OF THE DEVICE Dispose of this device as electronic waste.
