 MP-2000 User’s Guide Information to the user This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to  provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular  installation.  MP-2000 User’s Guide   Your new Special Edition MP-2000 is an easy-to-use, pocket-sized, state-of-the-art digital music player. Your favorite digital music  is combined in this small-but -powerful personal stereo system. Wherever you take the MP -2000, you can enjoy CD-quality, stereo sound.  With the user-friendly MP-2000 and your PC, you can customize a mix of your favorite audio tracks, and store custom music selections on the solid-state, removable, reusable, 32MB CompactFlash™ memory cartridge included in this package. MP-2000 connects to your PC through a USB cable so you can upload audio from the Internet or from your personal audio collection. The unit will recognize and play audio files in  four popular compression formats: AAC, ePAC, WMA and MP3.  The unit is powered by a built-in, rechargeable NiMH battery, allowing up to four continuous hours of stereo music playback. Connecting the external battery pack (included) gives you up to 10 hours of continuous playback time. The full-featured system will repeat whatever you choose: a whole collection of tracks, one track, or a selected passage of any length. You can tell your MP-2000 to play tracks in either a set order or random order.    The liquid crystal display (LCD) screen displays the name of the song and the artist and also lets you choose from five different equalizer settings to maximize your personal audio experience. It displays the length of each song and shows all the currently-selected settings and functions.   We hope you will enjoy the flexibility of selecting, downloading, storing, and playing your favorite audio tracks using the MP-2000. This User’s Guide will help you get the most from the digital audio product that puts you in control. Insert the card into the player, press firmly until you feel the card lock in place.   4. To remove the card, firmly grasp the card and slide the card out of the player.                  2.3.4 Connecting the Player to the PC  To enjoying digital music away from your computer, you must  first connect your MP -2000 to your computer via USB and download your songs onto the player’s removable flash memory card.    1. Turn player off.  2. Connect the square connector of the    USB cable to the player’s USB port     located on the side.  3. Connect the rectangular connector of    the USB cable to the back of your     computer.   4. Turn player on.  5. When the player is properly connected,    the LCD displays “USB Connect”.  6. Refer to your MVP software    manual for specific instructions on downloading music to the player.   Do not pull the card out while music is playing.  MP-2000 User’s Guide  2.4 Charging the Battery   A built-in rechargeable NiMH Battery powers your MP -2000. Attaching the external battery pack (1xAA external battery holder) will extend playback time up to 10 hours.    2.4.1 Charging The Player   1. Turn the player off.  2. Remove the external battery pack if attached.  3. Connect the AC power adapter to the slot labeled DC IN located on the    right side of the player and to the wall outlet.  4. Allow the player to charge overnight (12 hours if using the    player for the first time) before turning on the player.          2.4.2 Battery Level Indication During Operation   The BATTERY LEVEL icon will be continuously displayed while the   player is on. The icon will change to indicate:          Note : As the external battery pack provides different voltage than internal rechargeable battery, Battery Level Indication for external battery pack is not accurate.     If using the player for the first time, charge the battery for at least 15 hours. 2. Getting Started8

The LCD display will show model number and installed software version for 4 seconds.         3.  MP-2000 User’s Guide  3.1.2 Power OFF    Hold down the STOP (  ) button for 2 seconds. While holding down the   STOP button, the LCD will display “Powering Off”.                      To turn the player off during music playback, press the STOP (    ) button  once to stop music play, then press and hold the STOP button to power off.                     Hold the (    ) button down until the  “Powering Off” message                   disappears.                      In MUSIC mode only, the player will automatically power off                   after 1 minute of inactivity.                    3. How use the Special Edition MP-200010

 MP-2000 User’s Guide  3.3 Music Mode Functions  This section describes the features available to you while enjoying music from your CompactFlashTM memory card.        3.3.1 Selecting Music From Memory Card  • Ensure player is in MUSIC mode by pressing the       button. • Press the (   ) or (   ) buttons to scan forward/backward to select a song. • For each song, the LCD display will scroll the song’s title and artist information, and show the music format and song track number.    3.3.2 Play / Pause (       )  • Press the (   ) button to play the selected track. • Press the (   ) button again to pause  • During pause, the pause icon (    ) appears. • During playback, song title/artist, EQ setting, track number, and time elapsed appear.          3.3.3 Cue / Review (     ,     )  • During music playback, press the (   ) or (   ) once to select the previous or next track.  • Hold down the (   ) or (   ) buttons to scan backward/forward within a song.  MP-2000 User’s Guide   3.3.4 Stopping Play (     )   Press the (    ) button once to stop music playback.          3.3.5 Volume Control  • Press the volume controls on the top side of the player to increase/decrease volume during playback. • When you use the volume controls, the LCD will display the volume level, ranging from 00 to 30.  MP-2000 User’s Guide  3.3.6 Intro Scan/Repeat One/Repeat All/Random   Press (      ) once for INTRO playback.   The INTRO icon will appear. The player will play the first  10 seconds of each song.         Pressing (      ) twice will only repeat the currently   selected song. The REPEAT ONE icon will appear.          Press (      ) again to repeat all songs stored on the   memory card. The REPEAT ALL icon will appear.          Press (      ) a fourth time to play all songs in a   random order.  MP-2000 User’s Guide  3.3.7 A-B Sampling   During music playback, press the  (      ) button once    to set the start point of the song segment you want to repeat.       Press the (      ) button again to set the end point of    the song segment. The player will repeat the song segment from   point A to B.       Press the (      ) button a third time to return to normal   playback.                 The A-B Sampling function only works during music playback. 3. How use the Special Edition MP-200015

This additional information will be displayed for 5 seconds.   3.3.10 Hold Function   To lock the player button controls, press the HOLD button on the keypad.         The word “HOLD” will be displayed in the LCD.   To unlock, press the HOLD button a second time.      3. How use the Special Edition MP-200017After Pressing (     ) Button:
 MP-2000 User’s Guide    Problem Cause / Remedy  When I press the “ON” button, nothing happens.  Battery may need charging, insert the DC power adapter.   I pressed the PLAY button, but I can’t hear any music.  Ensure player is on.  Check the headphones to see if they are properly inserted into the player.  Check the volume level.  Check to see if the flash memory card has been properly inserted.   The LCD display reads “No Media”.  Turn off the player and insert a flash memory card.  Turn the player back on.   My computer doesn’t recognize the player when it’s connected.  Check the USB connection.  Check to see if the driver was properly installed on your computer.  In Windows, go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > System.  Click the Device Manager tab, scroll down to Universal Serial Bus Controller and click the (+) plus sign.  MP-2000 must be listed.            4. Troubleshooting 18
 MP-2000 User’s Guide  4.0 Troubleshooting (continued)   Problem Remedy  Some songs will scroll the artist and song title while other songs only display the filename.  This is not a problem associated with the player.  Refer to your PC jukebox software for editing song information.   None of the buttons are working.  Check to see if the HOLD button has been pressed.  You will see the HOLD icon appear in the LCD.  To deactivate this locking feature, press the HOLD button again.  “USB Connect” does not appear when I connect the player to the computer.  Check the USB connection.  Ensure the drivers have been properly loaded into your computer.              4. Troubleshooting19
