1IntroductionMSI MP54G-BT, the Wireless 11g + Bluetooth Combo miniPCICard, is a Type IIIB card, which can be used to integrate withsuch systems as notebook, mini-barebone, PDA, portable PC.With MSI MP54G-BT embedded inside, a system could pro-vide users with the ability and flexibility to connect up to Internetwirelessly via 802.11g with speed up to 54Mbps, and to linkwith peripherals wirelessly through BluetoothTM v1.2 and ad-vanced UBC (UltimateBlueTM Coexistence) technology. UBCtechnology complements the AFH (Adaptive FrequencyHopping) techniques in Bluetooth v1.2 while minimizing inter-ference and enhancing performance in Bluetooth v1.1 devices.MSI MP54G-BT is taking advantage of leading technologiesfrom Inprocomm and RFMD. It addresses the co-existence is-sues in PAN (Personal Area Network) and WLAN (WirelessLocal Area Network) markets by providing true simultaneousconnectivity while deploying IEEE 802.11g and Bluetooth v1.2.Along with this combo solution, a system installed with a singlecard is able to offer dual mode capability of WiFi and BluetoothTM.It will benefit system vendors in miniaturization of system di-mension and BOM cost reduction, as well as also make usershappy with the all-in-one functionality.>>> 1.1 MP54G-BT (MS-6855) - Wireless 11g + Bluetooth Combo MiniPCI Card
2Ad-hoc Mode : An Ad-hoc network is a local area network orother small network, especially one with wireless or temporaryplug-in connections, in which some of the network devices arepart of the network only for the duration of a communicationssession. Users in the network can share files, print to a sharedprinter, and access the Internet with a shared modem. In thiskind of network, new devices can be quickly added; however, users can only communicate with other wireless LAN comput-ers that are in this wireless LAN workgroup, and are withinrange.>>> 1.2 How MP54G-BT WorksMP54G-BT MP54G-BTIn WLAN Environment1.2.1WLAN+Bluetooth Combo MiniPCI Card WLAN+Bluetooth Combo MiniPCI Card
3Infrastructure Mode : The difference between Infrastructurenetwork and Ad-hoc network is that the former one includes anAccess Point. In an Infrastructure network, the Access Point canmanage the bandwidth to maximize bandwidth utilization. Addi-tionally, the Access Point enables users on a wireless LAN toaccess an existing wired network, allowing wireless users to takeadvantage of the wired networks resources, such as Internet, email, file transfer, and printer sharing. The scale and range of theInfrastructure networking are larger and wider than that of theAd-hoc networking.MP54G-BTMP54G-BTWLAN+Bluetooth Combo MiniPCI CardWLAN+Bluetooth Combo MiniPCI Card
4In Bluetooth ConnectionThe term “Bluetooth” refers to a worldwide standard for thewireless exchange of data between two devices. In order to ex-change data, two Bluetooth devices must establish a connection. Before a connection is established, one device must request aconnection with another. The second device accepts (or rejects)the connection. The originator of the request is known as theclient. The device that accepts (or rejects) the request is knownas the server. Many Bluetooth devices can act as both client andserver. Every Bluetooth device that provides a service must beprepared to respond to a connection request. Bluetooth soft-ware is always running in the background on the server, ready torespond to connection requests.1.2.2Bluetooth-enabled DevicesWLAN+Bluetooth Combo MiniPCI CardMP54G-BT
