2Hands free phone kit descriptionThe hands free phone kit is a convenient hands-free feature that can be connected to a com-patible cell phone using Bluetooth® radio communication technology.Before you can use the hands free phone kit, a compatible cell phone must undergo a one-time initialpairing process to the hands free phone kit using Bluetooth® wireless technology ⇒ page 3.After the initial pairing process, the connection between the hands free phone kit and a recognized (pre-viously paired) cell phone is automatically established when the ignition is switched on.If the cell phone is connected to the hands free phone kit, the following applies:●The cell phone is connected to the microphone near the front interior light.●Calls are routed over the vehicle loudspeakers, during which time the factory-installed radio / radio-navigation system is muted.●Telephone calls can be answered, rejected or ended using the telephone button on the multi-functionsteering wheel . This function is available only when the ignition is switched on or when theignition key is inserted in the ignition lock and the radio or radio-navigation system is switched on.●A telephone call is transferred to the cell phone if you remove the ignition key from the ignition lockwhile a call is in progress.●On cell phones that support the “Advanced Audio Distribution Profile” (A2DP), the music stored inthe cell phone can be played back over a suitable radio or radio-navigation system ⇒ page 7.Radio or radio-navigation systemThe radio or radio-navigation system will automatically switch on if it is turned off when the phone kit isin use.During an incoming or outgoing call, the radio or radio-navigation system is automatically muted so thatunnecessary noise does not interfere with the call.Navigation directions will continue to be given during a telephone call.Call VolumeYou adjust the volume of the call with the radio volume control or by using the volume controlbuttons and on the multi-function steering wheel. It is not necessary to make any adjustmentson the cell phone. During a call, the volume control adjusts only the volume of the call, and does not af-fect the volume of the radio mode.Conference callsConference calls can be controlled directly with the features in your cell phone. Please see your cellphone User’s Guide for more information. CAUTIONDriver distraction causes accidents, collisions and serious personal injury!●Never let yourself be distracted by setting, adjusting or using the cellular phone or CB radio.●Use the cellular phone or CB radio only if road, traffic and weather conditions permit and youwill not be distracted from your driving.●Always set volume levels so that you can clearly hear horns, sirens and other warningsounds outside the vehicle.●In areas with no or inadequate cellular phone network service and occasionally in tunnels,garages and underpasses as well, a telephone call cannot be put through – no emergencycalls either!●Using a cell phone or CB radios inside the vehicle without having a separate outsideantenna can be dangerous to your health and that of your passengers because the electro-magnetic radiation energy that these devices emit may be above established limits.●Always switch off completely cellular phones or CB radios while refueling.
