BatteryBattery and charger informationYour device is powered by a rechargeable battery. Thebattery intended for use with this device is BL-4S. Thisdevice is intended for use when supplied with power fromthe following chargers: AC-3. The battery can be chargedand discharged hundreds of times, but it will eventuallywear out. When the talk and standby times are noticeablyshorter than normal, replace the battery. Use only Nokiaapproved batteries, and recharge your battery only withNokia approved chargers designated for this device. Use ofan unapproved battery or charger may present a risk of fire, explosion, leakage, or other hazard. The exact charger model number may vary depending onthe type of plug. The plug variant is identified by one of thefollowing: E, EB, X, AR, U, A, C, or UB.If a battery is being used for the first time or if the batteryhas not been used for a prolonged period, it may benecessary to connect the charger, then disconnect andreconnect it to begin charging the battery. If the battery iscompletely discharged, it may take several minutes beforethe charging indicator appears on the display or before anycalls can be made.Always switch the device off and disconnect the chargerbefore removing the battery.59CyanCyanMagentaMagentaYellowYellowBlackBlack
Unplug the charger from the electrical plug and the devicewhen not in use. Do not leave a fully charged batteryconnected to a charger, since overcharging may shorten itslifetime. If left unused, a fully charged battery will lose itscharge over time.Always try to keep the battery between 15°C and 25°C (59°Fand 77°F). Extreme temperatures reduce the capacity andlifetime of the battery. A device with a hot or cold batterymay not work temporarily. Battery performance isparticularly limited in temperatures well below freezing.Do not short-circuit the battery. Accidental short-circuitingcan occur when a metallic object such as a coin, clip, or pencauses direct connection of the positive (+) and negative(-) terminals of the battery. (These look like metal strips onthe battery.) This might happen, for example, when youcarry a spare battery in your pocket or purse. Short-circuiting the terminals may damage the battery or theconnecting object.Do not dispose of batteries in a fire as they may explode.Batteries may also explode if damaged. Dispose ofbatteries according to local regulations. Please recyclewhen possible. Do not dispose as household waste.Do not dismantle, cut, open, crush, bend, deform, puncture, or shred cells or batteries. In the event of abattery leak, do not allow the liquid to come in contact withBattery60CyanCyanMagentaMagentaYellowYellowBlackBlack
the skin or eyes. In the event of such a leak, flush your skinor eyes immediately with water, or seek medical help.Do not modify, remanufacture, attempt to insert foreignobjects into the battery, or immerse or expose it to wateror other liquids.Improper battery use may result in a fire, explosion, orother hazard. If the device or battery is dropped, especiallyon a hard surface, and you believe the battery has beendamaged, take it to a service centre for inspection beforecontinuing to use it.Use the battery only for its intended purpose. Never useany charger or battery that is damaged. Keep your batteryout of the reach of small children.Nokia battery authenticationguidelinesAlways use original Nokia batteries for your safety. Tocheck that you are getting an original Nokia battery, purchase it from an authorised Nokia dealer, and inspectthe hologram label using the following steps:Successful completion of the steps is not a total assuranceof the authenticity of the battery. When you angle the hologram left, right, down and up, you should see1, 2, 3 and 4 dots on each siderespectively. What if your battery is not authentic? If you cannot confirm that your Nokia battery with thehologram on the label is an authentic Nokia battery, pleasedo not use the battery. Take it to the nearest authorisedNokia service point or dealer for assistance. The use of abattery that is not approved by the manufacturer may beBattery62CyanCyanMagentaMagentaYellowYellowBlackBlack
dangerous and may result in poor performance anddamage to your device and its enhancements. It may alsoinvalidate any approval or warranty applying to the device. For additional information, refer to the warranty andreference leaflet included with your Nokia device.Battery63CyanCyanMagentaMagentaYellowYellowBlackBlack

Medical devicesOperation of any radio transmitting equipment, includingwireless phones, may interfere with the functionality ofinadequately protected medical devices. Consult aphysician or the manufacturer of the medical device todetermine if they are adequately shielded from external RFenergy or if you have any questions. Switch off your devicein health care facilities when any regulations posted inthese areas instruct you to do so. Hospitals or health carefacilities may be using equipment that could be sensitiveto external RF energy.Implanted medical devicesManufacturers of medical devices recommend that aminimum separation of 15.3 centimetres (6 inch) shouldbe maintained between a wireless device and animplanted medical device, such as a pacemaker orimplanted cardioverter defibrillator, to avoid potentialinterference with the medical device. Persons who havesuch devices should:●Always keep the wireless device more than 15.3centimetres (6 inch) from the medical device when thewireless device is turned on.●Not carry the wireless device in a breast pocket.●Hold the wireless device to the ear opposite the medicaldevice to minimise the potential for interference.Additional safety information68CyanCyanMagentaMagentaYellowYellowBlackBlack

It isdesigned not to exceed the limits for exposure to radiowaves recommended by international guidelines. Theseguidelines were developed by the independent scientificorganisation ICNIRP and include safety margins designedto assure the protection of all persons, regardless of ageand health. The exposure guidelines for mobile devices employ a unitof measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate orAdditional safety information72CyanCyanMagentaMagentaYellowYellowBlackBlack
SAR. The SAR limit stated in the ICNIRP guidelines is 2.0watts/kilogram (W/kg) averaged over 10 grams of tissue.Tests for SAR are conducted using standard operatingpositions with the device transmitting at its highestcertified power level in all tested frequency bands. Theactual SAR level of an operating device can be below themaximum value because the device is designed to use onlythe power required to reach the network. That amountchanges depending on a number of factors such as howclose you are to a network base station. The highest SARvalue under the ICNIRP guidelines for use of the device atthe ear is 0.65 W/kg.Use of device accessories and enhancements may result indifferent SAR values. SAR values may vary depending onnational reporting and testing requirements and thenetwork band. Additional SAR information may beprovided under product information at www.nokia.com.Your mobile device is also designed to meet therequirements for exposure to radio waves established bythe Federal Communications Commission (USA) andIndustry Canada. These requirements set a SAR limit of 1.6W/kg averaged over one gram of tissue. The highest SARvalue reported under this standard during productcertification for use at the ear is 1.27 W/kg and whenproperly worn on the body is 0.57 W/kg.Additional safety information73CyanCyanMagentaMagentaYellowYellowBlackBlack
