There are fourdifferent types of certificates: authority certificates, personal certificates, trusted site certificates, and devicecertificates. During a secure connection, a server may senda server certificate to your device. Upon receipt, it ischecked through an authority certificate stored in yourdevice. You receive notification if the identity of the serveris not authentic or if you do not have the correct certificatein your device. You can download a certificate from a web site, or receivea certificate as a message. Certificates should be usedwhen you connect to an online bank or a remote server totransfer confidential information. They should also beused if you want to reduce the risk of viruses or other56Security and data managementCyanCyanMagentaMagentaYellowYellowBlackBlackCyanCyanMagentaMagentaYellowYellowBlackBlack
malicious software, and to check the authenticity ofsoftware when you download and install software to yourdevice.Tip: When you add a new certificate, check itsauthenticity.View certificate detailsYou can only be sure of the correct identity of a serverwhen the signature and the validity period of a servercertificate have been checked. To view certificate details, open a certificate folder, andselect a certificate and Options > Certificate details. One of the following notes may appear:•Certificate not trusted — You have not set anyapplication to use the certificate. You may want tochange the trust settings.•Expired certificate — The period of validity has endedfor the selected certificate.•Certificate not valid yet — The period of validity hasnot yet begun for the selected certificate.•Certificate corrupted — The certificate cannot beused. Contact the certificate issuer.Certificate trust settingsTrusting a certificate means that you authorise it to verifyweb pages, e-mail servers, software packages, and otherdata. Only trusted certificates can be used to verify servicesand software.Important: Even if the use of certificates makes therisks involved in remote connections and softwareinstallation considerably smaller, they must be usedcorrectly in order to benefit from increased security. Theexistence of a certificate does not offer any protection byitself; the certificate manager must contain correct, authentic, or trusted certificates for increased security tobe available. Certificates have a restricted lifetime. If"Expired certificate" or "Certificate not valid yet" is shown, even if the certificate should be valid, check that thecurrent date and time in your device are correct. Before changing any certificate settings, you must makesure that you really trust the owner of the certificate andthat the certificate really belongs to the listed owner. To change the trust settings, select a certificate andOptions > Trust settings. Do not end the call until given permission todo so.Certificationinformation (SAR)This mobile device meets guidelines for exposure toradio waves.Your mobile device is a radio transmitter and receiver. Itis designed not to exceed the limits for exposure to radiowaves recommended by international guidelines. Theseguidelines were developed by the independent scientificorganisation ICNIRP and include safety margins designedto assure the protection of all persons, regardless of ageand health. The exposure guidelines for mobile devices employ a unitof measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate orSAR. The SAR limit stated in the ICNIRP guidelines is 2.0watts/kilogram (W/kg) averaged over 10 grams of tissue.Tests for SAR are conducted using standard operatingpositions with the device transmitting at its highestcertified power level in all tested frequency bands. Theactual SAR level of an operating device can be below themaximum value because the device is designed to use onlythe power required to reach the network. That amountchanges depending on a number of factors such as howclose you are to a network base station. The highest SARvalue under the ICNIRP guidelines for use of the device atthe ear is 1.06 W/kg . 77Additional safety informationCyanCyanMagentaMagentaYellowYellowBlackBlackCyanCyanMagentaMagentaYellowYellowBlackBlack
Use of device accessories may result in different SARvalues. SAR values may vary depending on nationalreporting and testing requirements and the networkband. Additional SAR information may be provided underproduct information at www.nokia.com.78Additional safety informationCyanCyanMagentaMagentaYellowYellowBlackBlackCyanCyanMagentaMagentaYellowYellowBlackBlackYour mobile device is also designed to meet therequirements for exposure to radio waves establishedby the Federal Communications Commission (USA) andIndustry Canada. These requirements set a SAR limit of1.6 W/kg averaged over one gram of tissue. The highestSAR value reported under this standard during productcertification for use at the ear is 1.06 W/kg and whenproperly worn on the body is 0.62 W/kg .
