possible. Your wireless device may be theonly means of communication at thescene of an accident. Do not end the calluntil given permission to do so.Certification information (SAR)This mobile device meets guidelinesfor exposure to radio waves.Your mobile device is a radio transmitterand receiver. It is designed not to exceedthe limits for exposure to radio wavesrecommended by internationalguidelines. These guidelines weredeveloped by the independent scientificorganisation ICNIRP and include safetymargins designed to assure theprotection of all persons, regardless of ageand health. The exposure guidelines for mobiledevices employ a unit of measurementknown as the Specific Absorption Rate orSAR. The SAR limit stated in the ICNIRPguidelines is 2.0 watts/kilogram (W/kg)averaged over 10 grams of tissue. Tests forSAR are conducted using standardoperating positions with the devicetransmitting at its highest certified powerlevel in all tested frequency bands. Theactual SAR level of an operating device canbe below the maximum value because thedevice is designed to use only the powerrequired to reach the network. Thatamount changes depending on a numberof factors such as how close you are to anetwork base station. The highest SARvalue under the ICNIRP guidelines for useof the device at the ear is 0.41 W/kg.Use of device accessories may result indifferent SAR values. SAR values may varydepending on national reporting andtesting requirements and the networkband. Additional SAR information may beprovided under product information atwww.nokia.com.Your mobile device is also designed tomeet the requirements for exposure toradio waves established by the FederalCommunications Commission (USA) andIndustry Canada. These requirements seta SAR limit of 1.6 W/kg averaged over onegram of tissue. The highest SAR valuereported under this standard duringproduct certification for use at the ear is0.79 W/kg and when properly worn on thebody is 0.87 W/kg.Additional safety information 4949CyanCyanMagentaMagentaYellowYellowBlackBlack2009-03-30 12:10:39 RM-470 User Guide 2
