These applications require aGPS connection.About GPSThe Global Positioning System (GPS) is operated by thegovernment of the United States, which is solely responsiblefor its accuracy and maintenance. The accuracy of locationdata can be affected by adjustments to GPS satellites madeby the United States government and is subject to changewith the United States Department of Defense civil GPS policyand the Federal Radionavigation Plan. Accuracy can also beaffected by poor satellite geometry. Availability and qualityof GPS signals may be affected by your location, buildings, natural obstacles, and weather conditions. GPS signals maynot be available inside buildings or underground and may beimpaired by materials such as concrete and metal.GPS should not be used for precise location measurement, and you should never rely solely on location data from theGPS receiver and cellular radio networks for positioning ornavigation. The trip meter has limited accuracy, and rounding errors mayoccur. Accuracy can also be affected by availability and qualityof GPS signals. The coordinates in the GPS are expressed using theinternational WGS-84 coordinate system. The availability ofthe coordinates may vary by region.www.nokia.com/supportCyanCyanMagentaMagentaYellowYellowBlackBlack
Assisted GPS (A-GPS)Your device also supports assisted GPS (A-GPS).A-GPS requires network support.Assisted GPS (A-GPS) is used to retrieve assistance data overa packet data connection, which assists in calculating thecoordinates of your current location when your device isreceiving signals from satellites. When you activate A-GPS, your device receives useful satelliteinformation from an assistance data server over the cellularnetwork. With the help of assisted data, your device canobtain the GPS position faster.Your device is preconfigured to use the Nokia A-GPS service,if no service provider-specific A-GPS settings are available. The assistance data is retrieved from the Nokia A-GPS serviceserver only when needed. To disable the A-GPS service, select Menu > Applications >GPS data and Options > Positioning settings >Positioning methods > Assisted GPS > Options >Disable. You must have an internet access point defined in the deviceto retrieve assistance data from the Nokia A-GPS service overa packet data connection. The access point for A-GPS can bedefined in positioning settings. A wireless LAN (WLAN) accesspoint cannot be used for this service. Only a packet datainternet access point can be used. Your device asks you toselect the internet access point when GPS is used for the firsttime.Hold your device correctlyThe GPS receiver is located on the back of the device. Whenusing the receiver, make sure that you do not cover theantenna with your hand.Establishing a GPS connection may take from acouple of seconds to several minutes.Establishing a GPS connection in a vehicle maytake longer. The GPS receiver draws its power from the devicebattery.
