About positioning methodsMaps displays your location on the mapusing GPS, A-GPS, WLAN, or network (cellID) based positioning. The global positioning system (GPS) is asatellite-based navigation system usedfor calculating your location. Assisted GPS(A-GPS) is a network service that assistsyour GPS receiver, improving the speedand accuracy of the positioning. Inaddition, other enhancements to GPS maybe used to improve and speed up thepositioning. These may requiretransferring small amounts of data overthe cellular network.WLAN positioning improves positionaccuracy when GPS signals are notavailable, especially when you are indoorsor between tall buildings. With network (cell ID) based positioning, the position is determined through thecellular system your phone is currentlyconnected to.To save on data costs, you can deactivateA-GPS, WLAN, and network (cell ID) basedpositioning in your phone positioningsettings, but calculating your locationmay take much longer , the location canbe more inaccurate, and the GPS receivercan lose location more frequently. The availability and quality of GPS signalsmay be affected by your location, satellitepositions, buildings, natural obstacles, weather conditions, and adjustments toGPS satellites made by the United Statesgovernment. GPS signals may not beavailable inside buildings orunderground.Do not use GPS for precise locationmeasurement, and never rely solely on thelocation information provided by GPS andcellular networks. The trip meter may not be accurate, depending on the availability and qualityof your GPS connection.Note: Using WLAN may be restricted insome countries. For example, in France, you are only allowed to use WLAN indoors. For more information, contact your localauthorities.Depending on the available positioningmethods, the accuracy of positioning mayvary from a few metres to severalkilometres.Deactivate positioning methodsAssisted GPS (A-GPS), WLAN, and network(cell ID) positioning help your devicedetermine your current location morequickly and accurately. It isdesigned not to exceed the limits for exposure to radio wavesrecommended by international guidelines. These guidelineswere developed by the independent scientific organisationICNIRP and include safety margins designed to assure theprotection of all persons, regardless of age and health. The exposure guidelines for mobile devices employ a unit ofmeasurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate or SAR.The SAR limit stated in the ICNIRP guidelines is 2.0 watts/kilogram (W/kg) averaged over 10 grams of tissue. Tests forSAR are conducted using standard operating positions withthe device transmitting at its highest certified power level inall tested frequency bands. The actual SAR level of anoperating device can be below the maximum value becausethe device is designed to use only the power required to reachthe network. That amount changes depending on a numberof factors such as how close you are to a network base station. The highest SAR value under the ICNIRP guidelines for use ofthe device at the ear is 1.43 W/kg.Use of device accessories may result in different SAR values.SAR values may vary depending on national reporting andtesting requirements and the network band. Additional SARinformation may be provided under product information atwww.nokia.com.Your mobile device is also designed to meet the requirementsfor exposure to radio waves established by the FederalCommunications Commission (USA) and Industry Canada. These requirements set a SAR limit of 1.6 W/kg averaged overProduct and safety information 97© 2011 Nokia. one gram of tissue. The highest SAR value reported under thisstandard during product certification for use at the ear is 1.32W/kg and when properly worn on the body is 1.06 W/kg.Copyright and other noticesDECLARATION OF CONFORMITYHereby, NOKIA CORPORATION declares that this RM-670product is in compliance with the essential requirements andother relevant provisions of Directive 1999/5/EC.
