Nokia 6101h and 6102h User Guide addendum■Hearing Aid CompatibilityYour mobile device model complies with FCC rules governing hearing aid compatibility with hearing aids operating in microphone mode. These rules require phone models to fulfil the telephone near field category M3 or higher category. The M-value, shown on the device box, refers to lower radio frequency (RF) emissions. A higher M-value generally indicates that a device model has a lower RF emissions level, which may improve the likelihood that the device will operate with certain hearing aids. Some hearing aids are more immune than others are to interference. Please consult your hearing health professional to determine the M rating of your hearing aid and whether your hearing aid will work with this device.GSM networks in the United States utilize 850 and 1900 MHz bands. Your phone operates on both bands, and is enhanced with a "hearing aid mode" to activate if needed. In this mode, the phone reduces the maximum power that it can use when operating in the GSM 850 MHz band, thus potentially reducing interference with a hearing aid. When your phone is operating in the GSM 1900 MHz band, using the hearing aid mode does not impact the phone's operations. There is also no benefit to using the hearing aid mode if you do not wear hearing aids.The type of hearing aid and how far the phone is from a network base station both contribute to whether the hearing aid mode is beneficial. Hearing aid users should experiment with use of the hearing aid mode to determine whether it affects the operation of their hearing aids while using the mobile phone.Activate the hearing aid modeSelect Menu > Settings > Enhancement settings > Hearing aid > On. developed by the independent scientific organization ICNIRP and include safety margins designed to assure the protection of all persons, regardless of age and health.The exposure guidelines for mobile devices employ a unit of measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate or SAR. The SAR limit stated in the ICNIRP guidelines is 2.0 watts/ kilogram (W/kg) averaged over ten grams of tissue. Tests for SAR are conducted using standard operating positions with the device transmitting at its highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands. The actual SAR level of an operating device can be below the maximum value because the device is designed to use only the power required to reach the network. That amount changes depending on a number of factors such as how close you are to a network base station. The highest SAR value under the ICNIRP guidelines for use of the device at the ear is 0.68 W/kg for the Nokia 6101h phone and 0.68 W/kg for the Nokia 6102h phone.Use of device accessories and enhancements may result in different SAR values. SAR values may vary depending on national reporting and testing requirements and the network band. Some features of this device, such as text messages, multimedia messages, audio messages, instant messaging service, e-mail, mobile Internet services, content and application download, and synchronization with a remote Internet server, require network support for these technologies.■Shared memoryThe following features in this device may share memory: contacts, text messages, multimedia messages (but no attachments), instant messaging, groups, voice commands, calendar, and to-do notes. The second shared memory is used by files stored in Gallery, attachments of multimedia messages, e-mail, and JavaTM applications. Use of one or more of these features may reduce the memory available for the remaining features sharing memory. For example, saving many Java applications may use all of the available memory. Your device may display a message that the memory is full when you try to use a shared memory feature. In this case, delete some of the information or entries stored in the shared memory features before continuing. Your phone also supports the following functions:• Enhanced data rates for GSM evolution (EDGE), see “Packet data (EGPRS),” p. 42• Extensible hypertext markup language (XHTML), see “Web,” p. 57• Audio messaging, see “Nokia Xpress audio messaging,” p. 29• Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2METM), see “Applications,” p. 55■Access codesSecurity codeThe security code (5 to 10 digits) helps to protect your phone against unauthorized use. The preset code is 12345. To change the code, and to set the phone to request the code, see “Security,” p. 44.PIN codesThe personal identification number (PIN) code and the universal personal identification number (UPIN) code (4 to 8 digits) help to protect your SIM card against unauthorized use. See “Security,” p. 44.The PIN2 code (4 to 8 digits) may be supplied with the SIM card and is required for some functions.The module PIN is required to access the information in the security module. See “Security module,” p. 61.The signing PIN is required for the digital signature. See “Digital signature,” p. 63. See “Security,” p. 44.■Configuration settings serviceTo use some of the network services, such as mobile Internet services, MMS, Nokia Xpress audio messaging, or remote Internet server synchronization, your phone needs the correct configuration settings. You may be able to receive the settings directly as a configuration message. After receiving the settings you need to save them on your phone. The service provider may provide a PIN that is needed to save the settings. For more information on availability, contact your network operator, service provider, nearest authorized Nokia dealer, or visit the support area on the Nokia Web site, www.nokiausa.com/support.When you have received a configuration message Configuration sett. received is displayed.To save the settings, select Show > Save. Do not try to force the fold open more.■Install the SIM card and the batteryAlways switch the device off and disconnect the charger before removing the battery.Keep all SIM cards out of the reach of small children. The full performance of a new battery is achieved only after two or three complete charge and discharge cycles. Nokia 6101h and 6102h User Guide addendum■Hearing Aid CompatibilityYour mobile device model complies with FCC rules governing hearing aid compatibility with hearing aids operating in microphone mode. These rules require phone models to fulfil the telephone near field category M3 or higher category. The M-value, shown on the device box, refers to lower radio frequency (RF) emissions. A higher M-value generally indicates that a device model has a lower RF emissions level, which may improve the likelihood that the device will operate with certain hearing aids. Some hearing aids are more immune than others are to interference. Please consult your hearing health professional to determine the M rating of your hearing aid and whether your hearing aid will work with this device.GSM networks in the United States utilize 850 and 1900 MHz bands. Your phone operates on both bands, and is enhanced with a "hearing aid mode" to activate if needed. In this mode, the phone reduces the maximum power that it can use when operating in the GSM 850 MHz band, thus potentially reducing interference with a hearing aid. When your phone is operating in the GSM 1900 MHz band, using the hearing aid mode does not impact the phone's operations. There is also no benefit to using the hearing aid mode if you do not wear hearing aids.The type of hearing aid and how far the phone is from a network base station both contribute to whether the hearing aid mode is beneficial.
