TIPS FOR GETTING THE MOST FROM YOUR 75-503
Due to the band of opemtion (462/467 MHz) the 75-503 provides communications
that are virtually free of atmospheric interference (skip) that is oommon on Iowa“
frequency bands. Along with this and an antenna system that is way eflicient as
compared to othu unlioensed radio bands, communications range is surprisingly
good. Many times the limits to maximum possible range are environmental factors
such as blockage eaused by trees, buildings. hills, or other obstructions. lf you find
oommunioation is not possible, many times this can be overcome by moving only a
few fat to a new location. Range may he reduced while ope-ating in a vehicle or
fi'om inside to outside a metal building. Batm'y condition also affects range. The
75-503 operates bat on alkaline batteria. While this unit has been designed with
gaskets for water resistance and ruggedness it is a precision prime of electronic
equipment that should not be exposed to water or handled carelessly. Normal care
should result in years of trouble flee operation. Do not leave batteries installed over
a long period of time as leakage may occur that can destroy the radio. Always save
your receipt, as it is required for warranty consideration.
PREPARATION
BATTERIES
75503 radios operate with 3 AA alkaline batteries or Ni-ead batteries (batteries not
supplied). Alkaline batteries will provide about 24 hours of use. Ni—oad batteries
provide about 8 hours of use. Ni-Cad batteries must be charged print to use.
Charge time is ll) hours with the wall charger (not supplied). Do not mix battu'y
types in the radio.
To Install Batteries:
1. Hold the radio face down. Press the latch so it swings away from the oover.
2. Lin. the battery cover ofi'the unit.
3. Insert 3 AA batteries observing the proper polarity.
4. Replace the battery oovm' ova the hatteria and hasten with the latch.
Low Battery/Transmit lndicamr:
The “TX/BAT!" LED on the limit of the radio will light when the unit is
transmitting and when not transmitting ifthe batteries are low.
» BELT (Eur
The 75503 canes standard with a belt clip. Attach it to the radio back by sliding
the top of the clip up over the two rectangular bosses on the back of the radio until it
snaps into place. To detach the belt clip, press the lever inside the top of the clip
away li'om the radio body and slide the clip towardihe bottom of the radio.
QUICK USE INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Install li'esh alkaline or fully charged Ni—cad batteries.
2. Turn the unit on by turning the volume cmtml clockwise.
3. To talk pm the FIT (push-(mam) buttm on the side of the radio and talk
into the front ofthe radio.
4. To listen release the FIT button.
5. Volume and other functions maybe adjusted as daunted later.
POWER SAVE CIRCUIT
This part of the operation of the radio is completely automatic and on adjustable.
When thendiohasnotmsmittedorrweivedasigualfornbwtssecondsitwill
begin toeycle from asleepmodetofully on. This occurs about once a second. lfa
signal is received or you cause the unit to transmit the radio will become fully
awake. This cycling from sleep to hilly on increases the standby bonny life more
than SO%.
FEATURES AND IOCA'I'ION OF CON'I‘OLS
TOTURNTHERADIOONOROITF
The ON/OFFNOLUME control at the top of the radio cmtrols power and volume.
A series oftones will be heard confirming that radio is on.
TO CHANGE THE CHANNEL IN USE
Select the channel by sliding the channel switch to position I, 2, or 3. These
selections correspond to channels I, 3, an 5 on any 14 channel FRS radio.
‘ CARE OF RECHARGEABLE Nl-CAD BATTERIES
ALWAYS DlSPOSE OF BATTERIES PROPERLY
Always follow the bawwy manufactures recommendations for
charging and disposing ofNi-Cad batteries. "
The following is meant as general infonnation regarding Ni-Cad batteries.
1. Occasionally allow the batteries to fully discharge before recharging. Full
discharge will be indicated by the low bauu'y indientor coming on dining
receive operation.
2. Always allow the hattay to fully charge before using. This requires 10 hours with
the optimal charger.
3. The above will prevent the hands frmn developing “memory" whid: efiectively
reduces their mpacity.
4. It is better to store Ni-Cad batteries that are discharged rather than charged.
SERVICE:
Ifit ever bwomes necessary to return your unit fix service:
Pack the unit in its original box and packing. Improper packing may result in
damage during shipment.
Include a full description of any problems and a daytime telephone number.
For warranty service include a photocopy ofthe hill of sale or other proof of
purchase showing the date of sale.
Include a money order for $7.50 to cover shipping and handling (this may not be
required in some Salas)
You do not need to nan-m accessory items (brackets, screws, power cord, antenna,
etc) unless they maybe directly related to the problem. '
A flat rate “$45.00 will apply to repairs not covered by warranty. Send only
cashiers check, money order or Mastfl Card or Visa card numbfl'.
