Specific Absorption Rate (IEEE)
SAR I( EEE)
YOUR MOBILE DEVICE MEETS FCC LIMITS FOR
EXPOSURE TO RADIO WAVES.
Your mobile device is aradio transmitterand receiver. Itis designed notto exceed the
limits for exposuretoradio waves (radio frequency electromagnetic fields) adopted by the
Federal Communications Commission(FCC). Theselimits include asubstantial safety
margin designedto assurethe safety of all persons, regardless of age andhealth.
Theradio wave exposureguidelines use a unit of measurement knownas the Specific
Absorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit for mobile devices is 1.6W/kg.
Tests for SAR are conducted using standard operatingpositions with the device
transmittingat its highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands. The highest
SAR values under theFCC guidelines for your devicemodel are listed below:
HeadSAR
CDMA 800/1900, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
0.77W/kg
Body-worn SAR
CDMA 800/1900, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
1. 36W/kg
Duringuse, the actual SAR values for your deviceareusually well below the values
stated. This is because, for purposes of system efficiency and to minimizeinterference on
thenetwork, the operating power of your mobile device is automatically decreased when
full poweris not needed for thecall. The lowerthepower outputof thedevice, the lower
its SAR value.
Body-worn SAR testing has beencarriedout usingan approvedaccessory or at a

Location Services (GPS & AGPS)
The following informationis applicable to Motorola mobile devices that provide location
based(GPS and/or AGPS) functionality.
Your mobile devicecan use Global Positioning System(GPS) signals forlocation-based
applications. GPS uses satellites controlledby the U.S. government that are subject to
changes implemented inaccordance with the Department of Defense policy and the
GPS & AG PS
64
Federal Radio Navigation Plan. Thesechanges may affect the performanceof location
technology on your mobile device.
Your mobile device canalso use Assisted Global Positioning System(AGPS), which
obtains informationfrom the cellular network to improve GPS performance. AGPS uses
your wireless serviceprovider's network and therefore airtime, data charges, and/or
additional charges may apply in accordance withyour service plan. Contact yourwireless
service provider for details.
Your Location
Location-based information includes information that canbeusedto determinethe
approximate locationof amobiledevice. Mobiledevices which are connected to a
wireless network transmitlocation-basedinformation. Devices enabled with GPSor AGPS
technology also transmit location-based information. Additionally, if you useapplications
that requirelocation-based information(e.g. driving directions), such applications transmit
location-based information. This location-based information may besharedwiththird
parties, including your wireless serviceprovider, applications providers, Motorola, and
otherthird parties providing services.
Emergency Calls
When youmakean emergency call, thecellularnetwork may activate the AGPS
technology in your mobile device totell the emergency responders yourapproximate
location.
AGPS has limitations and might not work in your area. Therefore:
• Always tell theemergency responder your locationto thebestof yourability; and
• Remain onthe phone for as longas the emergency responder instructs you.
Navigation
Thefollowing information is applicable to Motorola mobile devices thatprovide
navigation features.
When using navigationfeatures, note that mapping information, directions andother
navigational data may containinaccurate or incompletedata. Insomecountries, complete
information may not be available. Therefore, you shouldvisually confirm that the
navigational instructions areconsistentwith what yousee. All drivers shouldpay

Smart Practices While Driving
Check the lawsand regulations on the use of mobile devices and their
accessories in the areas where you drive. Always obey them. The use of these
devices maybe prohibited or restricted in certain areas—for example,
handsfree use only may be required. Go to www.motorola.com/callsmart
(in English only) for more information.
Your mobile devicelets youcommunicate by voiceand data—almostanywhere, anytime,
wherever wireless service is available and safe conditions allow. Whendrivinga car,
driving is yourfirst responsibility. If youchoose to useyourmobiledevicewhile driving,
remember thefollowing tips:
• Get to knowyour Motorola mobile device and itsfeaturessuch as speed dial,
redial and voice dial. If available, these features help you toplaceyourcall without
taking your attention off the road.
• When available, use a handsfree device. If possible, add an additional layer of
convenienceto your mobiledevice with one of the many Motorola Original handsfree
accessories availabletoday.
• Position your mobile device within easy reach. Be able to access your mobile
devicewithout removing your eyes from theroad. If you receive an incoming call at an
inconvenient time, ifpossible, let your voicemail answer it for you.
• Let the person you are speaking with know you are driving; if necessary,
suspend the call in heavy traffic or hazardous weather conditions. Rain, sleet,
snow, ice, and even heavy traffic can be hazardous.
• Do not take notes or look up phone numbers while driving. Jotting down a “to
do” list or goingthroughyour address book takes attention away from your primary
responsibility—drivingsafely.
• Dial sensibly and assess the traffic; if possible, place calls when your car is
not moving orbefore pulling into traffic. If you must make acall while moving, dial
only afew numbers, check the road and yourmirrors, thencontinue.
• Do not engage in stressful or emotional conversations that may be
distracting. Make people you are talking with aware you are driving andsuspend
conversations thatcan divert yourattention away from theroad.
• Use your mobile device to call for help. Dial 911 orother local emergency number
in the caseof fire, traffic accident, or medical emergencies (whereverwireless phone
service is available).
• Use your mobile device to help others in emergencies. If yousee an auto
accident, crime in progress, or other serious emergency where lives are in danger, call
Dr ivi ngS afet y
911or other local emergency number (whereverwireless phoneservice is available),
as you would want others todo foryou.
• Call roadside assistance or a special non-emergencywirelessassistance
number when necessary. If you seea broken-down vehicle posing no serious
hazard, abroken traffic signal, a minor traffic accident where noone appears injured,
or a vehicleyou know to be stolen, call roadside assistance or other special
non-emergency wireless number (wherever wireless phone service is available).

Hearing Aid Compatibility with Mobile
Phones
Some Motorolaphones are measured for compatibility withhearing aids. If the box for
your particular model has “Rated forHearingAids” printed on it, the following explanation
applies.
Whensome mobile phones are usednearsomehearing devices (hearingaids andcochlear
implants), users may detect abuzzing, humming, or whiningnoise. Some hearing devices
are more immune than others to this interferencenoise, andphones also vary inthe
amountof interferencethey generate.
Thewireless telephone industry has developedratings for some of their mobilephones, to
assist hearingdevice users in finding phones that may be compatiblewith their hearing
devices. Not all phones have beenrated. Phones thatare rated have the rating on their
box ora label on thebox. Tomaintainthe publishedHearingAidCompatibility (HAC) rating
for this mobilephone, use only the original equipment battery model.
This phone has been tested andrated for usewith hearing aids forsome of the wireless
technologies that it uses. However, there may besomenewerwireless technologies used
in this phone thathavenot been tested yet foruse with hearingaids. It is important to try
the different features of this phone thoroughly and in different locations, using your
hearingaid or cochlearimplant, todetermine if youhear any interferingnoise. Contact
your serviceprovider orMotorola for informationon hearing aid compatibility. If you have
questions aboutreturn or exchangepolicies, contact your service provider or phone
retailer.
The ratings are notguarantees. Results will vary depending onthe user’s hearingdevice
and hearing loss. Ifyour hearingdevice happens to bevulnerableto interference, you may
not be able to usea rated phone successfully. Trying out the phone with your hearing
device is the best way toevaluate it for your personal needs.
Hear ing Ai dC ompat i bil it y
M-Ratings: Phones ratedM3or M4 meet FCC requirements and are likely to generate
less interference to hearingdevices than phones that are not labeled. M4 is the
better/higher of the two ratings.
T-Ratings: Phones rated T3 or T4 meetFCC requirements and arelikely tobemore usable
with a hearing device’s telecoil (“T Switch” or “TelephoneSwitch”) than unrated phones.
T4 is the better/higher of the two ratings. (Notethat notall hearing devices have telecoils
in them.)
Hearing devices may alsobe measured for immunity to this typeof interference. Your
hearing devicemanufacturer or hearinghealthprofessional may help you find results for
your hearing device. Themore immune your hearingaid is, the less likely you are to
experience interference noise from mobile phones.
