ATTENTION! The radio is restricted to occupational use only to satisfy FCC RF energy exposure requirements. Before using this product, read the RF energy awareness information and operating instructions in the Product Safety and RF Exposure booklet enclosed with your radio (Motorola Publication part number 6881095C98) to ensure compliance with RF energy exposure limits. This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by Motorola may void the user’s authority to operate this device. Battery is shipped with a nominal charge between 30 and 50%. Battery should be stored between -10°C (14°F) and 30°C (86°F) to minimize permanent capacity loss. Caution: Storing your fully charged accessory in high-temperature conditions may permanently reduce the life of the internal battery. ii 89C85-B_Text.fm Page 1 Friday, September 17, 2010 7:42 PM Important information: • Do not recharge your accessory in temperatures below 0°C (32°F) or above 45°C (113°F)· Conditions inside a parked car can exceed this range. Do not store your accessory in a parked car. Do not store your accessory in direct sunlight. • Storing your fully charged accessory in high-temperature conditions may permanently reduce the life of the internal battery. • Battery life may temporarily shorten in low-temperature conditions. SAFETY Exposure to loud noises from any source for extended periods of time may temporarily or permanently affect your hearing. The louder the radio's volume, the less time is required before your hearing could be affected. Hearing damage from loud noise is sometimes undetectable at first and can have a cumulative effect. To protect your hearing: iii • Use the lowest volume necessary to do your job. • Turn up the volume only if you are in noisy surroundings. • Turn down the volume before adding headset or earpiece. • Limit the amount of time you use headsets or earpieces at high volume. • When using the radio without a headset or earpiece, do not place the radio's speaker directly against your ear. 89C85-B_Text.fm Page 2 Friday, September 17, 2010 7:42 PM CAUTION This earpiece can be used in high noise environments. Before using the earpiece, please ensure that you have set the volume at the lowest level by holding the "VOLUME DOWN" button while the device is on. Do NOT set the device at the highest two volume levels unless needed for high noise environments. To avoid possible injury to your hearing, YOU MUST REDUCE the volume level to the lower six volume steps. ATTACHING INTEGRATED MICROPHONE/ RECEIVER HEADSET The earpiece can be worn on either ear. The clip on the cable attaches to the collar. The clip on the rear of the housing can be attached to the uniform or epaulette as user sees fit. 89C85-B_Text.fm Page 3 Friday, September 17, 2010 7:42 PM OTHER NOTES The minimum line-of-sight range for Secure Bluetooth Commport is 30 feet. However, the body tends to obstruct the signal, therefore the normal usage range is 6’ around your body. When the headset and adapter exceed the range of the wireless system, Mission Critical Device issues an alert sound, indicating that the wireless system is not operational. The link is automatically restored once the units are back within communication range. However, if the device has been out of range for more than 5 minutes, the headset/POD will shut off to conserve battery power. 89C85-B_Text.fm Page 4 Friday, September 17, 2010 7:42 PM INTRODUCTION We looked for a better way to enhance wireless security, and created a short range “out of band” system for exchanging device credentials. As a result, our proprietary Mission Critical Wireless Device pairs within an inch of the radio, and that exchange is virtually undetectable beyond a few inches. Because of the close pairing proximity, you can be confident your accessory is connecting with your radio. With mission critical wireless, wireless discovery is turned off and a hacker would not even know your earpiece is there. 89C85-B_Text.fm Page 5 Friday, September 17, 2010 7:42 PM WHAT IS IN YOUR PACKAGE • Wireless Device with PTT • Clothing clip • Integrated Microphone/receiver Earpiece with attached Collar clip • User Manual • Spare Eartube • Foam Windscreen • Silicone Earstrap 89C85-B_Text.fm Page 6 Friday, September 17, 2010 7:42 PM MISSION CRITICAL WIRELESS Earpiece Portion Flower Tip Collar Clip Volume Up Microphone Blue Dot-Ideal Pairing Location Volume Down PTT USB and charger Power Clothing Clip 89C85-B_Text.fm Page 7 Friday, September 17, 2010 7:42 PM THE MISSION CRITICAL WIRELESS INTEGRATED MICROPHONE/RECEIVER HEADSET DEVICE FEATURES • PTT • Simple and Securing pairing • Private listening without occluding the ear • Loud, clear audio • Comfortable Earpiece for all day wear • 128 bit key exchange for secure communication - Volume Control 89C85-B_Text.fm Page 8 Friday, September 17, 2010 7:42 PM CHARGING YOUR DEVICE Prior to using the device for the first time, it should be fully charged.
