1. FCC Information
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by Mueller Systems could void
the user's authority to operate the equipment.
IMPORTANT NOTE: To comply with FCC RF exposure compliance requirements,
the antenna used for this transmitter must be installed to provide a separation
distance of at least 42 cm from all persons and must not be co-located or
operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter.
“NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B
digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide
reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This
equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed
and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio
communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a
particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or
television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the
user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following
measures:
-- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
-- Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
-- Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the
receiver is connected.

2. Introduction
The Mueller UWMR (Universal Water Meter Receiver) is intended for mobile use as an
Automatic Metering Reading (AMR) device. The UWMR product consists of the UWMR
box, antenna, power cable, and serial cable. In addition, if the user desires, the UWMR
allows connection to a Mueller StreetMachine with the addition of a short RF coaxial
cable, a short serial to serial cable, and a short power cable.
The contents of this installation manual are intended for technically qualified personnel
who have been trained and are technically qualified in basic electrical principles.

There are no user serviceable items within a UWMR. No cleaning is required.

USB interface for controlling the UWMR Transmitter.
5.4 USB Receiver (USB)
USB interface for receiving data from the UWMR Receiver.
5.5 Serial StreetMachine (serial interface)
Standard DB9 RS232 interface to connect to the StreetMachine with the following
configuration:
Bits per sec: 38400
Data bits : 8
Parity: None
Stop Bits: 1
Flow control: none
5.6 TNC StreetMachine (902MHz to 928MHz RF Output)
RF Output from 902MHz to 928MHz that provides a connection to the StreetMachine
TNC antenna input.
5.7 TNC Antenna
RF antenna connection to the UWMR, used for both the receiver as a 902MHz to
928MHz RF Input and the transmitter as a 952MHz to 960MHz Output.
