Cautions
Cleaning
To clean the CD-R/RW drive. wipe it wilh a sell, damp cloth. using mild
detergent if necessary. Please avoid using solvents such as henzine or
paint thinner. This can cause color changes or delormation ul lhe CD-Fl/
RW drive.
Handling the Disc
- Do not touch the data side 01 the disc (the side at the disc with no label
or printlng).
- Do not apply paper labels or write on any part at the also. data slde or
label side. D0 no! use the disc leaved a mark ship paper labels.
. Il dust or fingerprints gel on the disc, wipe it with a soft cloth lrom the
center to me edge.
- Do not use benzine, paint thinner, record cleaner, or slallc repellent.
This can damage lhe disc.

This jack is used to conned a set 07 headphones. Please use
headphones with a stereo mini-jack plug.
Volume Control
This control is used to adjust the headphone volume.
NOTE: This control has no effect on the audio output lrom the LINE
OUT connector on the back of the CD-R/RW dn’ve.
BUSY Indicator
This indicator lights umber while date is being read.
Trey Panel
This panel prevents dust tram entering the CDR/RW drive.
The disc tray will be eisded when (he Load/Eject button is pushed.
Emergency Eiect Hole
Use to remove the disc mm the CD-R/RW drive it the electrical eject
is disabled by sottware or ii power failure occurs. (See page 14
"Emergency Eject“ tor details.)
Load/Eject
This button is pressed to eiect or retract the disc tray when the power
is on.

Jumper Setting
A jumper consists of a palrol pins and a oonneclorwhich lils over me
pins. when the oonneclov is in place il establishes an electronic link
belween the pins, which enables the luncflnn being conlrolled by me

Installing the CD-RIRW drive in a host PC
Note
Reler to the guidebook included with your personal computer for instmc—
lions on installing the CD-Fl/FtW drive. This chapter gives one example at
installation.
1. Attach the mounting rails to both the left and right sides of the CD-R/
FlW drive.
2. Turn all the computer, other peripherals and unplug all the cords and
cables, Then remove the computer cover, lace plate, mounting clips,
and keeper bracket. Refer to the Guide to Operafions that came with
your computer lor help with this step.
3, Slide the dist: drive out approximately 50 - 70mm (2 ~ 3 in.). but do
not disconnect the cables.
4. Slide the CD-R/Flw drive into the computer until it is even with the disc
drive.

5v Locale a spare power cable in your compuler.
6. Connect that power cable to the power connector on the back of the
CD-H/RW drive.

7. Connect the I/O BUS connector on the CD-H/RW drive and the IDE
connector.
Connect the colored stripe side oi Ihe cable 10 the side marked with the
arrow(V).

Inserting/Removing a Disc
Uslng the CD-HIRW Drive Installed Vertically
when using the CD-RIRW drive, in the vertical position‘ load and unload
discs as shown on the diagram below.

Inserting 3 Disc
t. Press me Load/Eject button. The disc tray will be elected.
2. Place the disc in the center oi the tmy with the label side lacing up.
3. Press the Load/Eject button. The disc tray will be retracted.
Removing a Disc
1. Press the Load/Eject button. The disc tray will be ejected.
z. Hemove the disc.
3. Press the Load/Eject button. The disc tray will be retracted,
WARNING:
Do notiorctbly push the disc tray in by hand. Doing so may result in damage.
Note:
ii an eject prohibit command has been received from the computer. the
disc tray will not be ejected even it the Load/Eject button is pressed.
Emergency Eject
The procedure described below can be used to remove a disc from the
CD-Fl/FlW drive it the Load/Eject button is disabled by software or a
power failure occurs.
t. Turn all the power to the compuler installed the CD-R/RW drive.
2. The disc that is inside may still be spinning. Please wait 1minute until It
stops to spin certainly.
3. Insert a steel red as paperclip and so on that is straightend (about
1.3mm in diameter) into the emergency elect hole and push slowly.
The disc tray is ejected by about tom. Pull it all me way open by hand.
