System Preparation
Charging the Lithium Scoreboard battery
a. Remove the battery from the scoreboard (see figure 3).
b. Connect the charger to the battery.
c. Plug the charger into a 115 volt ac outlet.
d. Charging time will depend on battery condition. Usually a full charge is achieved in about 4 to 5 hrs.. The
charger will turn itself off when the battery is fully charged.
e. An LED on the charger indicates the charging status. The following table shows the LED indications.
LED Condition
Flash 50/50 Rapid Charge
ON Charge Complete
Blip 10/90 Charge Pending, waiting for cool down
Fast Blip Charge Failure, See troubleshooting guide
Off No AC or Battery
f. A fully charged battery in good condition should operate the scoreboard for approximately 6 hrs.
g. Extra battery packs are available for continuous use.
h. The battery should be recharged after each use.
i. The scoreboard will remember the FUNCTION options and the scoreboard data even with the battery
disconnected. The scoreboard data will be displayed when a charged battery is connected and the power
switched on.
j. The scoreboard power switch is located on the back of the scoreboard near the battery. (See figure 3). The
switch should remain off when the scoreboard is not in use to conserve battery charge.
Never use the batteries with anything other than specifically designed equipment.
Always use the battery charger prescribed by Nevco LX0315SUT4SNNS.
Never heat or incinerate the battery.
Never impact, pierce or crush the battery.
Never disassemble or modify the battery. The battery contains a circuit designed to
enhance safety. Damaging this circuit may cause overheating, fire or bursting.
Never charge a battery under high temperature conditions, such as near a fire or in the
direct sunlight. If the ambient temperature is too high, the protection circuit may be
actuated preventing further charging, or damage to the battery pack.
Never short-circuit the battery by connecting the positive and negative terminals with a
metal material. Do not store or carry the battery where it could come into contact with
metal objects such as a key chain or necklace.
Never allow the battery to get wet or be immersed in water.
Do not place the battery in a microwave oven or high pressure container.
Stop charging if the battery is not charged after the prescribed charge time.
If leakage of the electrolyte occurs, or if there is an offensive odor, immediately keep
the battery away from any source of fire or spark.
If you become aware of any abnormal phenomena, such as odor, discoloration, or
deformation, during use, while charging or when storing the battery, remove the
battery from the device or charger and stop using.
In the event the electrolyte comes into contact with the eyes, flush thoroughly with
clean water, without rubbing. Consult with a physician immediately.

Choosing a site for the scoreboard
a. The scoreboard is constructed of durable materials; Nevco recommends a location that will minimize the
chance of physical damage.
b. The scoreboard can stand alone with the integrated fold out stand for easy setup on the ground, or it can be
hung on a fence.
c. For maximum visibility locate the scoreboard to minimize sun glare during game time.
d. The operator needs to be able to see and read the digits on the scoreboard.
e. The range will vary depending on conditions. The wireless control range is 0 to 250 feet. Greater range can
be achieved by maintaining a clear line of sight from the control to the scoreboard.
Control Power
a. The control operates on two 1.5 volt AA batteries. Heavy Duty Alkaline batteries are recommended.
b. The batteries are located beneath a sliding panel on the back of the control. Be sure to observe polarity as
marked inside the battery compartment.
c. There is no power on switch on the control. Power is consumed only while a key is depressed to maximize
battery life. A set of fresh batteries can be expected to last a year.
d. An LED on the control blinks to acknowledge each key press. The color of this LED indicates the battery
condition. When the LED is green the batteries are good. When the LED is red battery power is limited and
the batteries will need to be replaced soon.
Storing
Storing Between Games
a. Place the control in its storage pocket in the back of the scoreboard (see figure 3).
b. Recharge the scoreboard battery and reinstall it in the scoreboard (see figure 3).
c. Be sure the scoreboard power switch is turned off (see figure 3).
d. Store the scoreboard in a safe dry location.
Storing Between Seasons
a. Remove the batteries from the control to prevent possible damage from a leaky battery.
b. Return the control to its storage compartment in the back of the scoreboard (see figure 3).
c. Recharge the scoreboard battery and reinstall it in the scoreboard (see figure 3).
d. Be sure the scoreboard power switch is turned off (see figure 3).
e. Store the scoreboard in a safe dry location.

Operation
Turning the scoreboard on
a. The operator’s control is stored in a pocket on the back of the scoreboard. (see figure 3)
b. Turn the scoreboard power switch on. (see figure 3)
c. Adjust the brightness level as desired. (see “Using the Function key”)
d. A low battery will be indicated by a ‘b’ in the Period digit. The scoreboard will operate for approximately 10
more minutes.
Note: Operating below the brightest setting will lengthen the expected battery discharge time.
Be sure to turn the scoreboard power switch off and return the control to its storage compartment when the
game has ended.
Scoreboard control:
a. Select the part of the scoreboard that you want to modify by pressing and releasing one of the HOME,
GUEST, MINUTE, SECOND, or PERIOD keys.
b. Add one, Subtract one, or Clear the value by pressing +, –, or Clear respectively.
c. Holding down the + or – key for 3 seconds will cause the value to begin jumping by a count of 5.
d. Press RUN to start the time. The time will count down to zero if the timer direction is set to down, or up if
the timer direction is set to up. Pressing STOP halts the timer. The horn will sound when zero is reached.
(“Auto horn” can be disabled in function mode).
e. Pressing the HORN key will sound the horn for 2 seconds. If the key is held down, it will continue to sound
until the key is let up.

Setting Hours in the Time:
For games that extend beyond 99 minutes and 59 seconds, hours can be added to the time through the function menu.
When there are hours set, the time will display hours:minutes and the left-most digit in the time will flash a segment at
a rate of 1 second so it is known that the time is running. A maximum of 9 hours can be added to the time, for a
maximum time of 9:59:59. When the time drops below 1 hour, the time display will shift to minutes:seconds.
Segment Timer Programming:
A segment timer is used for pacing organized practices. Typically, a segment consists of a drill that is run for a set
period of time. Once the time has expired, a new segment is entered and the drill changes. The segment timer will
count down from the programmed segment time to zero. The current segment number is shown in the HOME
score display. The Nevco Portable has a maximum of 40 segments. To program the segments:
a. Press the function key until the time display says “SEgd“.
b. Press the + or - key to enable the segment timer. The time display says “SEgE“.
c. Press HOME and then the + key to enter the segment timer programming mode.
d. The time area will now display the time for the segment shown in the HOME score.
e. Press HOME and then the + and – key to scroll through segments 01 - 40.
f. Adjust the time to the desired length for each segment in the same way that time is adjusted in the normal
scoreboard mode. For example, if segment 1 is to be 30 seconds. Press the SECOND key and then + until 30
appears in the seconds portion of the display time.
g. To disable the segment timer, press the function key until the time display reads “SEgE”. Press the + or –
key and the time displays “SEgd”.
h. Pressing the function key anywhere in the segment timer menu jumps out of segment timer programming.
i. While out of the function mode, RUN starts the timer, STOP halts the timer, and Clear resets the segment to
segment 01.
Segment timer example:
To program a segment timer of the following configuration:
Segment Segment Time
1 00:30
