WIRING THE FM MODULE The FM module should be positioned near your existing car ‘ stereo and the 15 foot data cable should be connected to it. Make the following connectidns to lhe FM module: ORANGE WITH WHITE STRIPE WIRE Attached tn the FM module is £1 3 met orange with white stripe wils. Thls is to be connected to a + 12 volt clrcuu mat is only live when the ignition ls on. The best connection po nt is at the cafs fuse block at the “RADIO" or “ACCES— S RY‘ identified terminalst GREEN WITH WHITE STRIPE POWER WIRE The 3 loot green with white stripe wire must be connected tea “live" 12 volt wire in the vehicle. BLACK GROUND WIRE The 3 toot blank wire attached to the FM module i must be secured to a grounded metal part or the car‘s diesels. lt you cannut find an existing bolt or screwtofasten it to. you must orillahole inthe metal and sea-ire it with BSGt‘eW.TO insure 390m! ground. remove any paint or grease where the wire will ocnnect. ‘ CAR ANTENNA INPUT, Locate your existing car radio antenna cable. This is normally a black cable about as thick as a pencil and will be plugged into a socket on the rear of your car radio. Unplug this antenna lead and plug it into the . mating lemele socket on the FM module. IMPORTANT - Some lmponcars have especial dual antenna called “DlVERSlTY ANTENNA”. if your car has this type of antenna system, you wlll find the entering cable will not fit the socket on the FM module. Use of the AGO-52 with “DIVERSiTV ANTENNA“ is not reixmlmended. You may also find some late model GM cars have an antennaplugtnatistoosmalltomate With the FM module ll this is found, call Audiovox's TolI»Free Assistanceer 3 special adaptor. This adap- torcsn altio be purchased atany carsteren installation center, RADIO ANTENNA OUTPUT Attached to the FM module is a male antenna plug. Simply plug this into the socket on the car radio from which you iust removed the car antenna cable. Use M0 screws “C" and drill two 3/32" holes or use elewidans lane or twist lies (not provided), ADJUSTMENT OF FM MODULE TUN- lNG Tc operele your AGO-52. yourcar radio must be llmtuned to me FM band at 8941MH2. lf you find inlerlerence on thls frequency, you can change the output frequency from me FM module to 58.7 MHz., by moving the slideswitch on lhe FM module to the 8&7 MHzr position. Each display is explained in the applicable lunotion explanation below. ® PLAY I PAUSE (> III ) Pressing this button turns on the CD changer, illuminates the LCD panel and begins play of disc in if a new CD magazine has been loaded into the changer. if a magazine was already in the changer. play wrll resume from the track on the disc previously in play. Play of the disc is shown bytns indication b and the rotating diso symbol on the LCD panel. Pressing the button againwill temporarilystop playolttie disc. The pause indication II willappearonfhe LCD panel and the disc symbol will stop rotating and flash instead. Press the button again to resume play oi the dlsc. (9 TRACK SELECT (m »i) The Track Select function la used to quickly access the begin- ning ot a particular track. Press Forward Track Select ( »l ) or Backward Track Select( m )to locate the desired track as shown by the track number indication on the LCD panel. © THACK SEARCH (N4 W) High-speed audible Search to any section of the disc can be made by the search functions, Press and hold the M button to advance quickly intne forward direction or press and hold the l« button to advance rapidly in the backward direction. Dur- ing search operation, the rotation dlscsymbol willturn iasterand the appropriate symbol «or in will flash on the LCD panel. When the forward search »t button is held down and end or the lost track is reached, or the backward search M is held down and the unit reaches the beginning ofthe firstlrack on the disc, the unit will enter the Pause mode until the button ls released, @ Tnncmoisc SHUFFLE (SHFL) When the Shuffle button is pressed, the indication SHFL will appear on the LCD panel and the tracks on the disc will be played in a random, shuffled order. The Track Skip 5 function Will also select tracks in the shuffled crderinstead of the normal progression. The Tmck Shuffle mode can be cancelled by 1 4l P032 P.6 5/3 pressing the Shuffle again, or by acfivating the Sean 9 or Repeat 9 functions. When the Repeat button is pressed and held longer than 2 seconds, the EFT and mac indications will appear on the LCD panel and play of the selected disc will be continually repeated until the Disc Repeafmodeiscancelledby pressing the Repeat button againcr by activating the Scan 5 or Shuffle 7 functions. ® TRACK 1 Disc SCAN (ecu) When the Scan button is pressed, the indication ‘SCN" will appear on the LCD panel and the first 10 seconds of each trackonthe discwill be playadiriorder, When adesired track ls reached, press the Scan button again and play of thattrack will continue (SCN will disappearfromthe display). Scan mode will be cancelled by activating any other function (Repeat, Shuffle. Disc Selen.TrackSelec1.orTra/aksearch). When the Scan button is pressed and held for longer than 2 seconds, the SCN and DISC indications will appear on the LCD panel and the first 10 seconds of the first track of each disc in the magazine will be played. When a desired disc is reached. was the Scan button again and play of that disc will continue (SCAN and DISC will disappear from the display). Disc Scan modewill also hecancelled by activating any other function (Repeat, Shuffle, Disc Select, Track Select. or Track Search). ® aEsE'r BUTTON A reset button is located on the tront panel of the remote control which must be activated with a pen or other min object as it is recessed to prevent accidental engagement. The reset circuitry is provided to protectthe unit's microprocessor and laser pick—up system and should only be activated under the following circumstances: 1. initial installation afterallwlnngls completed (this must be done , . 2. If abnormal disc operation tsencountered. the reset button may be pressed to clear the system and return to normal operation, IMPORTANT: Use of the Reset button on the CD Changer will cause the CD magazine to be automatically elected. Make certain changer door is fully opened prior to using Fleset nPRéézhdtfléivfii want; M922 P.7 7/fi CAUTION: When the CD magazine is ejaded bytlto m oitha Reset bunch, whichever disc was in play prior to depressing Reset will be left tn the play position in the changer. It is critical that before reinserung the CD magazine. you must REMOVE ALL DIScSirom it. Afterme have [hurled the empty CDmagozlhe, depress “EJEO'T‘ on the changer and the 'ln play“ disowlii be loaded into the empty magazine. You may then removethe magazine and re-loed as many Glace as desired. WARNING: Avoid use oi Reset buttons after initial use unless you have a definite abnomtal disc opemtion. Use the EJECT button on the changer to remove the CD magazine tor normal operation. HINTS FOR CORRECT AND SAFE OPERATION This CD Changeriedesigneo to be operated only on 12voit DC negative ground systems. The unit can not he used on 24 volt or positive ground systems. TEMPERATURE The null may notopetate correctly In extremely hotoroold temperatures. Itis equipped with a built-in themtal protecflon circuit which will atop operation oi the unit when the temperature reached the pro-set level. If this should happen. the unitwill reflumo operation when the vehicle returns to a normal temperature range. Remove the magazine from the unit when It Is not being used during hot weather. if the discs are left in an extremely hot car they may warp. if the CD changer is not used for long periods of lime, remove the compact discs irom the magazine. and store them in their cases. DONDENSATION Moisture can condense on the 1856! lens or the CD changer during rainy and humid days, or right alter the heater is turned on in the our (it the changer is mounted in the passenger compartment). it this should happen the unit will not operate correct”. To remedy the situation. remove the discs from the unit and wait approldmately one hour. During this time the moisture will evaporate and the unit will operate normally. mtannumons m souno (Skipping) The sound from the unit may "skip“ and be interrupted if the anti-vibration springs are not set correctty. ii the changer is mounted ourend or upside-down, or when travelling on very rough road suriaces. it this should occur, check for errors made during installation or weittorthe road surface to improve. 3" (Born) CD-SINGLES This unit is not designed to play 3" (Born) (DD-Single discs. Inserting a 3' also into the magazine, either with or without a 3' disc adaptor, can damage the changer and the disc. Such damage will not be covered try the Warranty on this product, HANDLING THE DISCS Dirt, dust, scratches and warpage cause sound skips dunng playback and a deterioration of sound quality, To take proper care of your discs: flea-arm 1, Use compact dress that have the mufiwtd |0go, 2, Fingerprints and dust should be cerelully wiped oil the disc's signal surface (glossy side) with a soil cloth. Unlike conventional records, the compact disc has no grooves to collect dust and microscopic debris, so gently wiping with etsolt cloth should remove most particles. Wipe in a straight motion lrorn the inside to the outside at the disc, Small dust particles or llght stains will have absolutely no sheet on reproduction quality, 3, Never use such chemicals as record sprays, antistatic sprays or iluids. benzine or thinner to clean compact discs. Such chemicals could irreparably damage the diode plastic surface. 4, Discs should be out back in their cases after use to avoid serious scratches that wuid cause the sound to skip. 5. Do not expose discs to directsunlight, high humidity. or high temperatures tor extended periods oi time. Long exposure , to high temperatures can warp the disc. 6. Do not stick paper, labels, or tape on the disc surface. 7. Do not write with any type oi pen, pencil, or marker on the disc surlace a.
