It is process-based and explains how to achieve a specific objective on a step-by-step basis. To make best use of this documentation, please note the following conventions: Indicates warnings, preconditions or instructions that have to be precisely followed. Indicates additional information or advice. 1. Start … The number at the beginning of a line indicates a prompt for action. Carry out these actions in the order specified. Indicates an intermediate result. Indicates a result. 1.2 OK Indicates text passages or buttons that appear in the program interface. They are shown in boldface. (see…) Indicates references to other chapters. They are executed as links and are shown in red and underlined. […] Indicates keyboard shortcuts for entering commands. About Nero ControlCenter With Nero ControlCenter you can update your Nero products, select the desired language, call up information on the serial number, delete a serial number, or add one. In addition, you can open a My Nero account or modify your already existing My Nero access data. Nero ControlCenter 4 Starting Nero ControlCenter 2 Starting Nero ControlCenter To start Nero ControlCenter, proceed as follows: 1. If you use the Nero Suite and have Nero StartSmart available: 1. Click the Nero StartSmart icon. The Nero StartSmart window opens. 2. Click the button. The list of Nero applications is displayed. 3. Select the Toolbox > Nero ControlCenter entry in this selection list. The Nero ControlCenter window opens. 2. If you use another Nero program and do not have Nero StartSmart available. 1. Click Start (the start icon) > (All) Programs > Nero > Nero ControlCenter. The Nero ControlCenter window opens. You have started Nero ControlCenter. Nero ControlCenter 5 Overview 3 Overview Nero ControlCenter offers the following updating and settings possibilities for all Nero products: Update Allows updating one or more of the installed Nero applications (see Update 7). License Displays the serial numbers used and offers the possibility of entering new ones (see License 10). Product Settings Offers the possibility of entering product improvements (see Product Settings 11). Language Changes the language used for all Nero applications (see Language 12). See also: My Nero 8 Nero ControlCenter 6 Updating Nero Applications 4 Updating Nero Applications The Update screen lists all Nero applications enabled by their respective serial numbers in the License screen. The version number of the installed application is also displayed. If your computer is connected to the Internet, you can download updates for all installed Nero pruducts using the Check for Updates button. Update screen Nero ControlCenter 7 My Nero 5 My Nero In the My Nero screen you can store your My Nero access data. If you do not already possess a Nero account, you can open one here. My Nero The My Nero online portal can be found at http://my.nero.com. This is where registered users can, among other things, manage blogs or publish multimedia files to share with other users. The saved access data can be used by the various applications. For instance, you can use Nero ShowTime to play video RSS feeds that have been recommended by your Nero buddies. Nero ShowTime is an application of the Nero Suite. Further information can be found in the Nero ShowTime manual. My Nero screen See also: Entering My Nero Access Data 9 Open an Account at My Nero 9 Nero ControlCenter 8 My Nero 5.1 Open an Account at My Nero In order to open an account for My Nero using the Nero ControlCenter, proceed as follows: 1. Click the My Nero menu. The My Nero screen is displayed. 2. Click the Create a My Nero Account button. The My Nero Internet page opens. 3. Enter the desired data. 4. Click the Register button. You have opened an account at My Nero. 5.2 Entering My Nero Access Data The following requirement has to be fulfilled: You have an account at My Nero. To enter the access data for your account, proceed as follows: 1. Click the My Nero menu icon. The My Nero screen is displayed. 2. Enter your user name in the Nickname input field for My Nero. 3. Enter your password for My Nero in the Password input field. 4. Click the Check Account Information button. Your entries are checked. If the check is successful, a window with the corresponding message is displayed. 5. Click the OK button. Your access data for My Nero are laid down in the Nero ControlCenter and saved. The Update MyNero account button is displayed. With this button you can modify your access data. Nero ControlCenter 9 License 6 License The License screen displays all installed Nero products with their respective serial numbers. For any trial versions installed, the expiration date is indicated and the option is offered to purchase a serial number via the Buy Now button. You can also enter new serial numbers or delete old ones. See also: Adding or Removing a Serial Number 10 6.1 Adding or Removing a Serial Number To enter a new serial number or remove an old one, proceed as follows: 1. To enter a new serial number: 1. Click the License menu. The License screen appears. 2. Mark the desired Nero product. The product is highlighted in blue. 3. Enter the new serial number in the input field. 4. Click the Add button. The new serial number is added. In the event that the Nero product for the issued serial number has not yet been installed, or belongs to a trial version that already expired, a window with a corresponding message appears and offers you an update, an upgrade or the possibility to buy the desired Nero product. 2. If you want to delete a serial number: 1. Click the License menu. The License screen appears. 2. Mark the desired Nero product. The product is highlighted in blue. 3. Click the Remove button. The serial number is removed. You have added or removed a serial number. Nero ControlCenter 10 Product Settings 7 Product Settings In the Product Settings screen you can select whether you wish to contribute to Nero product improvements. Thus you permit Nero to collect user data on the Nero software from your system. Non-personal information (e.g. installed applications or versions) is collected and sent anonymously to a Nero secure server, where it is analyzed and used to improve the Nero software. In order to contribute to product improvement, simply activate the I want to help by sending application usage data to Nero check box. Nero ControlCenter 11 Defining Currently Used Languages 8 Defining Currently Used Languages In the Language screen you can select the language that is to be used for all Nero applications. All languages that were installed during product installation are available to be selected. If you want to choose a language that has not been installed, you have to first install it. To do so, modify the installation. In order to define the language that is to be used currently by all Nero applications, proceed as follows: 1. Click the Language menu. The language selection screen will appear. Language selection screen 2. Select your desired language in the selection menu. 3. Click the Change Language button.
