Computer As Source and Bluetooth Audio System NE-830 User's Manual 2 Important Safety Instructions When used in the directed manner, this unit has been designed and manufactured to ensure your personal safety. However, improper use can result in potential electrical shock or fire hazards. Please read all safety and operating instructions carefully before installation and use, and keep these instructions handy for future reference. Take special note of all warnings listed in these instructions and on the unit. 1. Water and Moisture The unit should not be used near water. For example: near a bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink, laundry tub, swimming pool or in a set basement. 2. Ventilation The unit should be situated so that its location or position does not interfere with its proper ventilation. For example, it should not be situated on a bed, sofa, rug or similar surface that may block the ventilation openings. The ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation openings with items, such as newspapers, table-cloths, curtains, etc. Also, it should not be placed in a built-in installation, such as a bookcase or cabinet, which may impede the flow of air through the ventilation openings; minimum distances 30 cm around the apparatus for sufficient ventilations. 3. Heat & Flame The unit should be situated away from heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or other appliances (including amplifiers) that produce heat. No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the apparatus. 4. Power Source The unit should be connected to a power supply only of the type described in the operating instructions or as marked on the appliance. Where the power adaptor is used as the disconnect device, the disconnect device shall remain readily operable. 5. Power Cord Protection Power supply cords should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against them. It is always best to have a clear area from where the cord exits the unit to where it is plugged into an AC outlet. The mains plug of apparatus should not be obstructed OR should be easily accessed during intended use. 6. Cleaning The unit should be cleaned only as recommended. See the section "Care and Maintenance" of this manual for cleaning instructions. 7. Object and Liquid Entry Care should be taken so that objects do not fall and liquids are not spilled into any openings or vents located on the unit. It shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and that no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus. 8. Attachments Do not use attachments no recommended by the product manufacturer. 9. Lightning and Power Surge Protection Unplug the unit from the wall outlet and disconnect the periods of time. This will prevent damage to the product due to lightning and power-line surges. 10. Overloading Do not overload wall outlets, extension cords, or integral convenience receptacles as this can result in a risk of fire of electric shock. 11. Damage Requiring Service This unit should be serviced by qualified service personnel when: A. The power supply cord or plug has been damaged. B. Objects have fallen into or liquid has been spilled into the enclosure. C. The unit has been exposed to rain. D. The unit has been dropped or the enclosure damaged. E. The unit exhibits a marked change in performance or does not operate normally. 12. Periods of Nonuse If the unit is to be left unused for an extended period of time, such as a month or longer, the power cord should be unplugged from the unit to prevent damage or corrosion. 13. 3 The user should not attempt to service the unit beyond those methods described in the user's operating instructions. Service methods not covered in the operating instructions should be referred to qualified service personnel. 14. Environment Attention should be drawn to the environment aspects of battery disposal and the use of apparatus in moderate climates. Warnings: - Battery shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like. - Be sure that the battery are installed correctly. Wrong polarity may damage the unit. - Do not mix old and new batteries. - Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries. - Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommend are to be used. - If the unit is not to be used for an extended period of time, remove the battery. - Do not dispose of batteries in fire, battery may explode or leak. - Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Battery Compartment Installation Remote Control A battery compartment located at rear bottom of the remote control. - For the first time usage, just remove the insulation tag. - To replace the battery, slide out the battery compartment lid and install a fresh CR2025 / DC 3V Lithium battery then close the compartment lid. System Connection Before operate the CAS system, follow the setup that described in the system connection diagram (see diagram A) which help you to have a quick start of the system. 6 Diagram A : CAS System Connection 1. Speaker Connection Connect the provided speaker cable to the speaker output socket located at rear of the main unit (Left Channel Speaker) and connect the other end of the cable to Right Channel Speaker’s rear speaker socket. 2. Power Connection (a) Connect the DC output power plug of the AC-DC power adaptor to the DC-IN socket located at rear of the main unit. (b) Firmly and securely plug the AC-DC power adaptor into the AC mains outlet. 3. PC Connection The system can playback music source from a PC. Connect the type B USB plug to the main unit’s “USB→PC” connector and connect the other end of the USB cable to a PC. 4. External Audio Signal Source Connect a RCA type audio cable (left and right) to the AUX-IN (auxiliary) socket and connect the other end of the cable to an external audio source device. 5. Bluetooth Connection Playback smart phone music through Bluetooth technology, see “Bluetooth Operation” section in this manual. 6. Remote Control With the Remote Control ready, you can select different operating mode, adjust volume level and other controls. Now it is ready to operate the CAS system with this setup. Computer As Source The CAS Speaker has built-in high quality DAC, where it can playback the digital music source from a PC. (1) Connect the cable with type B USB plug to the “USB➙PC” socket located rear of the speaker (main unit). (2) Connect the other end of the cable to the USB socket of a PC. (3) Press the PC button from the remote control to select PC mode. The status LED indicator will light green. (4) The PC will auto-detect and set the CAS Speaker as the current output speaker. In case of lower version of Windows operating system, we need to set “CAS” as the output speaker manually from the Windows [control panel] \ [Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices] \ [Sounds and Audio Devices] \ [Audio] \ [Sound playback] \ [Default device]. (5) Run the media player from the PC and playback music.
7 Bluetooth Operation The system playback mobile device (like smart phone, tablet) music through Bluetooth operation. Bluetooth connection : (1) With the CAS Speaker turned on. (2) Press the BT button from the remote control to select Bluetooth mode. (3) The Speaker will search nearby Bluetooth device and the Blue status LED indicator blinks. (4) From the mobile device, turn on its Bluetooth function and it will also search for the nearby Bluetooth device. (5) From the Bluetooth device list of your mobile device, tap on Bluetooth device name “VELOUR” of this model for the connection. (6) Once the mobile device is connected with the unit, the status LED indicator will light steadily in blue. Note: With the last mobile device Bluetooth turn on, each time the Bluetooth mode of the CAS Speaker is selected and it will search and connect to the last mobile device automatically. Playback mobile device music : (1) You may adjust both the volume control of your mobile device and the volume control of this unit to find the most desirable volume setting. (2) You can press: (a) the button to Play / Pause the mobile device music. (b) the / button to skip tracks forward / backward. (c) the MUTE button from the remote control to mute the volume. Auxiliary Audio Input This unit provides two auxiliary audio signal inputs for connecting external audio devices, for example a CD player , TV set. 1. Connect an audio cable with RCA type audio plug to the AUX-IN 1 (AUX-IN 2) jack located at rear of the unit. 2. Connect the other end of the cable to an external audio device. 3. Turn on the external audio device. 4. To select auxiliary audio input, press the AUX 1 (AUX 2) button from the remote control. While AUX 1 is selected and the status LED indicator lights Magenta. While AUX 2 is selected and the status LED indicator lights Yellow. 5. The volume level can now be controlled through VOL +/- button of the remote control. Operate all other functions on the auxiliary device as usual. Note: AUX-IN 1 is designed to match audio device with relatively strong audio output signal, for example : desktop type CD player , desktop type DVD player , …….. etc.. AUX-IN 2 is designed to match audio device with relatively weak audio output signal, for example : portable CD player , smart phone, TV set , …….. etc.. Press the STASNDBY button turning off the unit when you finish listening. Don't forget to switch off the power of your external device as well 8 Treble / Bass Settings To set Treble / Bass : - Press the TRE +/- button from the remote control to set Treble. - Press the BASS +/- button from the remote control to set Bass. - Press the NORMAL button which returns to the normal audio frequency respond setting. Care and Maintenance - Do not subject the unit to excessive force, shock, dust or extreme temperature. - Do not tamper the internal components of the unit. - Clean your unit with a damp (never wet) cloth. Solvent or detergent should never be used. - Avoid leaving your unit in direct sunlight or in hot, humid or dusty places. - Keep your unit away from heating appliances and sources of electrical noise such as fluorescent lamps or motors. Resetting the Unit If the unit experiences a power surge or electric shock, it is possible that the internal micro-controller may lock up and the unit will not respond to any commands from the system’s controls. 1. With the main unit still maintain the power supply. 2. Use a straightened paper clip, toothpick or similar objects to press the RESET button located at rear of the main unit. CAUTION: DO NOT USE SHARP, POINTED OBJECT TO PRESS THE RESET BUTTON. IT MAY DAMAGE THE RESET SWITCH INSIDE THE UNIT.
