WIRELESS INDOOR REPEATER
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
The2GIGWirelessIndoorRepeater(2GIG‐RPTR1‐345)isaremotely
poweredwirelessindoorrepeater.Therepeaterisaperipheraldevice
thatcommunicateswiththe2GIGPanelusingaproprietary345MHz
transmissionprotocol.Therepeaterreceivesandrecognizesmessages
fromother345MHzdevicesthatareunabletodirectlycommunicate
withthesystem,and“repeats”thosemessagestoextendtherangeof
thesedevices.
Therepeaterwilltypicallybeinstalledatthemid‐pointbetweenthe
panelandthewirelessdevicesbeingrepeated.Whenatransmission
fromadeviceisrepeated,therepeateraddsabittothemessageto
indicatetothesystemthatthemessageisnotcomingdirectlyfrom
thedevice.Therepeaterwillnotrepeatalreadyrepeatedmessages.
TherepeaterispoweredbyanACadapterandisequippedwitha
rechargeablebatterywhichsupports24hoursofbatterybackup
underconditionsoflocalpowerfailure.Whenthepowersourcefor
therepeaterchangesfromACpowertobatterybackup,orfrom
batterybackuptoACpower,therepeaterwillautomaticallysenda
messagetothesystemwithintwo(2)minutes.Inaddition,
supervisorymessagesaresentapproximatelyevery70minutesthat
indicatetherepeaterstatus.
TherepeaterisequippedwithastatusindicatorLEDvisiblefromthe
frontoftheunit,andalearnbuttonislocatedonthesideoftheunit.

Installing the Battery
Therechargeablebatterycanbeinstalledbyopeningtheenclosure
whilethepowerisdisconnected(seeFigure2).
WARNING: Polarityofthebatterymustbeobserved.Alignthe
batterytomatchthepolarityindicatorsonthecircuitboard.
Improperinstallationofthebatterymayresultinheat
generation,explosion,orfirewhichmayleadtopersonal
injury.

Mounting Guidelines
Usetheseguidelineswheninstallingthewirelessindoorrepeater:
•MountRepeaterswithin100ft(30m)oftheControlPanel.
Althoughthetransmittermayhavearangeof350ft(106.7m)in
openair,therepeaterlocationcanhaveasignificanteffecton
range.Inopen/unobstructedsituations,thetransmitterrangemay
begreater.Inadversewirelessconditions,changingtherepeater
orientationmayleadtoimprovedrange.
•MountRepeatersashighaspossible.Mountingtherepeaterhigh
offthegroundhelpsreceiversensitivity.
•DoNotExposeRepeaterstoMoistureorExtremeTemperature.It
isbesttomountrepeatersinadrylocationwheretheoperating
temperaturedoesnotexceed32°to120°F(0°to49°C).
•KeepRepeatersAwayfromMetal/MetalicSurfaces.Tokeepthe
repeaterawayfrommetalormetallicsurfaces(forexample,foil
wallpaper),itisrecommendedthatyouusespacers(notincluded).
Youshouldalsoavoidmountingsensorsinareaswherethereisa
largequantityofmetalorelectricalwiring(forexample,neara
furnaceorinautilityroom).
Toinstallthewirelessrepeater:
1Opentherepeatercase.
2Attachthebasetothedesiredwalllocationwiththefour(4)
Phillipsheadscrewsandanchorssupplied(seeFigure2).
3Installthetamperscrew(seeFigure2).Withthetamperscrew
installed,removingthecasefromthewalltriggerstamper.
NOTE: Forthetampertoworkcorrectly,thetamperscrewmust
beinstalledintoawallstud.Donotuseawallanchor.
4Installthebattery.Observebatterypolarity.
5Connectthe2‐conductorwiretothepowersupplyandtothe
terminalconnectoronthecircuitboard.Makesurethewire
passesthroughthegrommetandholeontherepeaterbasebefore
connectingtotheterminal.
6Attachtherepeatercovertothebaseandsecuretheassembly
withthePhillipsheadcaselockingscrew.
