Welcome to yourADT Carbon Monoxide Alarm
3. Remove the tab on the carbon monoxide alarm marked “Pull This Tab”.Setup1Carbon Monoxide Alarm (Back)Battery TabSetup•  Make sure you are within 350 feet from the ADT Security Hub. (Exact range depends on your home’s construction, environment, position of the ADT Security Hub, and the position and number of other connected devices.)•  Make sure that your ADT Security Hub is disarmed before connecting a new device.Take the ADT Carbon Monoxide Alarm to where you intend to mount it after setup.1.2. Use the SmartThings app on your smartphone to select the “My Home” tab. Select "Things", and then “Add a Thing".
Install the ADT Carbon Monoxide Alarm in a place where the alarm can be heard easily. Ideally, a carbon monoxide alarm should be installed in:•  Every room containing a fuel burning appliance,•  Within 10 feet of a sleeping area.•  On every oor of the building.Placement2Carbon Monoxide Alarm (Back)Setup4. •  If mounted on a wall, it should be located at a height greater than the height of any door or window but still be at least 5.9 inches from the ceiling.If locating the ADT Carbon Monoxide Alarm in a room with a fuel burning appliance:•  If mounted on the ceiling, it should be at least 12 inches from any wall or light tting.•  The alarm should be a horizontal distance of between 3.28 and 9.84 feet from the potential carbon monoxide source.•  In rooms with sloped ceilings, the alarm should be located on the high side of the room.•  Near paint, thinners, solvent fumes, or air fresheners.•  Where dirt or dust could block the detector.•  In a bathroom or other areas where it may be exposed to water splashes, dripping or condensation, e.g. above an electric kettle.•  Where it would be obstructed, e.g. by curtains or furniture.•  In an area where the temperature could be below -50°F or above 104°F.•  Where it could be easily knocked or damaged, or accidentally turned off or removed.•  Over heat sources such as radiators or hot air vents.Placement Placement
Carbon Monoxide Alarm Ceiling Placement:If locating the ADT Carbon Monoxide Alarm in a bedroom or in rooms remote from a fuel burning appliance: •  Mount the alarm within 10 feet of the occupants.•  Always make sure it is possible to view the three light indicators when in the vicinity of the alarm. Test the ADT Carbon Monoxide Alarm weekly by pressing and holding the test button for a few seconds. Replace the alarm when the “Replace unit by” date has been reached (check label on the side of the device).Important: This Carbon Monoxide Alarm must be tested and maintained weekly. This device is designed to protect individuals from the acute effects of carbon monoxide exposure. It will not fully safeguard individuals with specic medical conditions. If in doubt, consult a medical practitioner. Individuals with medical problems consider using detection devices with lower COHb alarming capabilities.4TestingMake sure the batteries are properly inserted and then wait 15 seconds.Operate reset/silence button.Call your emergency services Fire Department or 911.If the alarm does not sound when you press the test button:Hold button down rmly for at least 5 seconds.Check the alarm is secured correctly on the mounting plate.Replace batteries.1.2.If the alarm sounds for no apparent reason:1.2.3.4.Troubleshooting5Note: If you have an ADT professional monitoring service activated, make sure that your ADT Security Hub is in Test Mode to avoid triggering a false alarm. 4.Immediately move to fresh air – outdoors or by an open door/ window. Do a head count to check that all persons are accounted for. DO NOT re-enter the premises until the emergency services responders have arrived, the premises have been aired out and your alarm has returned to its normal condition.3.After following steps 1-3, if your alarm reactivates within a 24 hour period, repeat steps 1-3 and call a qualied appliance technician to investigate for sources of carbon monoxide from fuel burning equipment and appliances, and inspect for proper operation of this equipment. Make sure that motor vehicles are not, and have not been, operating in an attached garage or adjacent to the residence.TroubleshootingNote: When ventilation is provided by leaving the window and doors open, the carbon monoxide build up may have If problems persist:Ensure there are no fuel burning appliances in the vicinity which could be leaking carbon monoxide gas, e.g. from next door.Ensure there are no fumes in the area, e.g. paint thinners, hair spray, chemical cleaners, aerosol sprays, etc.1.2.Troubleshootingdissipated by the time help arrives and the alarm may have stopped sounding. Although your problem may appear temporarily solved it is crucial that the source of the carbon monoxide is determined and appropriate repairs made.
Ensure there is no source of hydrogen such as batteries being charged, e.g. on boats or in uninterruptable power supplies.Ensure there is not excessive smoke or fumes from devices that use coal or charcoal to heat tobacco.Press the test/hush button to silence the alarm.If the unit continues to sound, it is possibly defective and should be replaced.4.5.6.The alarm regularly checks for low batteries, and will alert you if a low battery is detected. The alarm will also beep and the yellow LED ash to warn you the batteries must be replaced. Pressing the Hush button will silence the beep and the ashing yellow LED for 12 hours, if no other trouble conditions exist. WARNING: Use only batteries specied. Use of different batteries may have a detrimental effect on the carbon monoxide alarm. Removal of the batteries will render this alarm inoperativeRemove the alarm from its mounting base by twisting it counterclockwise, and then remove the battery cover.1.6Replacing BatteriesTroubleshootingEnsure there is no outdoor source of carbon monoxide in the vicinity, e.g. a car with engine running, heavy trafc, heavy air pollution, barbecue fumes, etc.3.

When the ADT Carbon Monoxide Alarm detects potentially dangerous levels of carbon monoxide, it ashes the red light immediately and then sounds a loud alarm if the carbon monoxide persists. 7UseAlarm - Red LEDPower - Green LEDFault - Amber LEDThe below table shows how the alarm reacts to different levels of carbon monoxide gas and exposure time.
