NuVision TM808 User Manual Introduction Thank you for purchasing the NuVision TM808 8” Windows tablet. It utilizes touch technology to make your personal computing and media content experience, both seamless and immersive. The Tablet is the perfect companion for accomplishing everyday tasks, enhancing productivity on the go, playing video games, streaming Xbox Music and Video, taking photos, and surfing the internet. When it’s time to work, the TM808 comes with Microsoft Office 365 Personal that includes Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, OneNote, Publisher, and Access. Find the enclosed authorization card to begin your one year subscription that also entitles you to unlimited cloud storage and 60 minutes per month of free Skype video calls to anyone in over 60 countries. In addition, you’ll find other features including Bluetooth connectivity, a mini-HDMI port to view content on an HD display (television, monitor, or projector), front & rear cameras, and a memory card slot for up to an additional 64GB of storage. With a sleek design and bright high-definition IPS touch screen that ensures ultra wide viewing angles, you’ll enjoy your TM808 for many years to come. Using finger gestures you’ll swipe down from the top side, up from the bottom edge, or inward from the left and right edges of the display to navigate the Tablet. The following information will help you get the most out of your Tablet. We strongly recommend reading it thoroughly before first use. Avoid using in extremely hot, cold, dusty, damp or wet environments. 2. The tablet is not moisture/water-resistant. Avoid using the tablet around sources of water. 3. Avoid dropping or forcibly placing the tablet onto a hard surface. This may damage the screen or internal electronic components. 4. Do not use alcohol, thinner or benzene to clean the surface of the tablet. Use only cleaning products designed for computer tablet devices. 5. Do not use the tablet while walking or driving. 6. Excessive use of earphones at high volume may lead to hearing impairment. Limit earphone usage, and adjust the volume to a moderate level when doing so. 7. The images in this manual may vary slightly from the actual product. 8. Charge the tablet battery under any of the following circumstances: a) Battery level icon indicates low power, by showing a drained, red battery icon. b) Tablet powers-off automatically, continuing to do so even after restarting. c) On-screen keys or display does not function properly. 9. Do not suddenly disconnect the tablet when formatting, uploading or downloading data. This may lead to program errors (e.g., system or screen “freezing”.) 10. Static discharge in the cable, while it is connected to a computer, may corrupt files or damage the memory and its content. 11. Dismantling the tablet will void the manufacturer’s warranty. If you are experiencing problems, review the FAQ section of this manual. 12. Tablet functions, hardware, software, and warranty information may be revised by the manufacturer or their respective owners, and subject to change without notice. 13. Power: Turn On: Press and hold for a couple of seconds; Turn Off: Press and hold for a couple of seconds. Slide finger downward to shut off the Tablet when prompted. Sleep Mode: Press momentarily to turn off display. Reset tablet: Press and hold for 10 seconds 2. Touch Screen: 8” IPS wide-view panel with HD resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. 3. Start Menu Button: Tap to go directly to the Start Menu to access apps, tiles, the internet, and more. 4. Volume + / Volume –: Decrease or increase the volume level for the built-in speakers, stereo headphones (ear buds), or externally powered speakers. Adjust the volume of built-in speakers or headphones (when plugged in sound is muted through speakers). 5. Front Web Camera: Built in 2MP front camera for taking “selfies”, or video chatting with family & friends. 6. Camera Indicator: The indicator will flash when in use. 7. DC Indicator: Lit when device is turned on. 8. Headphone Jack: Use headphones for private listening or connect amplified speakers for a greater quality of sound. 9. Micro USB: Transfer media files to or from your computer to the Tablet; connect compatible devices like a mouse, keyboard, camera, or external hard drive. 10. Mini HDMI: Transfer media files to or from your computer to the Tablet; connect compatible devices like a mouse, keyboard, camera, or external hard drive. 11. Micro TF Memory Card Slot: The built-in storage card reader slot supports an optional TF memory card for additional storage. Insert an optional memory card up to 64GB for storage or transferring files. 12. MIC: Built in microphone for personal voice recordings in class or at work. 13. DC Input: Connect to charge the internal rechargeable battery. 14. Speakers: Built in speakers to listen to music, videos, and audio e-Books. 15. Rear Camera: Built in 2MP rear camera takes photos and 720p HD videos. WiFi and Bluetooth Wireless Connect to the internet and wirelessly connect your Bluetooth compatible devices such as speakers, printers, and headphones up to 30’ away. 3 Getting Started with Your Tablet Power On/Off/Standby Mode/Reset ON: Press and hold the side Power button on the side for a couple of seconds until the logo screen appears, then release. OFF: Press and hold the side Power button. When prompted, slide finger downward to shut off the tablet. STANDBY MODE: While the Tablet is on, press the side Power button quickly to turn off the display only. The Tablet will enter a sleep mode which minimizes some of the battery functions (turn off completely to avoid unnecessary battery drainage). Press the Power button quickly to wake from sleep mode to use the Tablet immediately. NOTE 1: Another way to access Power, Shut Down, or Update and Restart, is to swipe left from the right edge of the screen then tap the Settings charm. NOTE 2: Should you require to RESET the tablet, press and hold Power button for 10 sec. Press again to turn on. First Time Setup The first time you turn on the Tablet, a Setup Wizard will guide you through a number of steps to personalize your Tablet, set up WiFi, your Microsoft account, free cloud service, and more. All of which can be changed at a later time. NOTE: It is recommended to charge your battery completely before first use. User and Password Setup 4 To choose or change a password, swipe your finger inward at the right edge of the screen to display the Charm Menu. When a password is required you must choose one to sign in. Open the Settings charm, then tap (or click) PC Settings > Accounts > Sign-In Options NOTE: DO NOT CREATE A PASSWORD WITHOUT CREATING A PASSWORD RESET DISK (see page 25) OR WRITING IT DOWN. KEEP IN A SAFE PLACE! Under Password Policy, choose an item from the list: Microsoft Account. Choose a time frame or Always Require a Password. Local Account. Choose a time frame, Always Require a Password, or Never Require a Password. Charging the Battery It is recommended to fully charge the tablet before first use. Play times will vary depending on display settings, apps that remain open, and your internet usage. To charge the tablet, plug the connector (1) of the AC Adapter (2) into the DC Input at the top of the tablet. Plug AC adapter into a wall outlet (3). When the tablet is on, the battery status icon will pulse showing that is being charged. It is fully charged when the icon of a full battery is displayed on screen. It is normal for the tablet to be warm to the touch as it is being charged or during general use. NOTE 1: The large capacity battery charges completely between 4- 5 hours. NOTE 2: To charge a Bluetooth keyboard, connect it to the USB input on the tablet which must be powered ON. If the tablet is in Standby mode or OFF, the keyboard will not charge. Battery Care Operating temperature: Your Tablet is designed to function between 32°F and 95°F (or 0°C to 35°C). Lithium-polymer batteries are sensitive to higher temperatures, so keep your Tablet out of direct sun light and don’t leave it in a closed environment susceptible to extreme temperatures (ie: such as in a vehicle). 5 Basic Operation Start Screen, Tiles, and Apps The Start menu screen is where you access everything on your Tablet and search the web. It’s where you check your email, and open applications. Live tiles provide you with the latest news & weather, sporting events, and more. These colorful tiles also alert you with display notices including messages and announcements. Traditional Desktop The Desktop is where File Explorer, and other folders are located. To access it, find the tile in the Start Menu. When using most Windows-compatible keyboard press the Windows Home key + the D key (refer to your keyboard user manual). NOTE 1: When Office 365 Personal is installed you will find the Apps in the Apps Menu. See page 21 to add to your tiles or Desktop task bar. Screen Orientation Landscape Mode Portrait Mode When rotating your Tablet the screen content adjusts automatically to the proper position, either in portrait or landscape modes. NOTE: Use Portrait mode to enter the 25 character key to activate Office 365 Personal. 6 Create a Microsoft account It is recommended to set up or use an existing Microsoft account for better enjoyment of Microsoft services such as Xbox, Hotmail, Outlook.com, OneDrive, Skype, etc. Many apps and services rely on the account to sync content and settings across devices. If you have more than one Microsoft account already, you’ll need to choose one. Add Other Email Accounts To add your email accounts: 1. Tap (or click) Mail from the Start screen. 2. Open the Settings charm, then tap (or click) Accounts > Add an account. 3. Choose the type of account you want to add, and then follow the on-screen instructions. Passwords, Lock Screen and Sign In NOTE: DO NOT CREATE A PASSWORD WITHOUT CREATING A PASSWORD RESET DISK (see page 25) OR WRITING IT DOWN. KEEP IN A SAFE PLACE! Press the Power button to turn on the Tablet. With your finger, swipe upward from the touch screen. The Lock screen is the starting point and appears when the Tablet screen is on. Sign in to your account by typing in your password (see page 24 to create password or PIN). On Screen Text Display When you tap either the search icon or curser within a text box, your Tablet will automatically display a virtual and responsive keyboard to type. On Screen Text Settings Text suggestions appear as you enter words. To insert a suggestion made you can tap it or press the Spacebar. In the event you wish to turn on (or off) this mode, open the Settings charm. Tap (or click) Change PC Settings > PC and Devices > Typing > Show Text Suggestions as I Type 7 Common Finger Gestures Slide to right to Access Open Apps Swipe the left edge: Switch between open apps by swiping inward from the left edge of the screen. Every time you swipe, you switch to another open app. To switch to a specific open app, swipe inward from the left edge and with your finger still on the touchscreen, move it back towards the left edge. Then tap on the desired app. Slide to Left for Search, Share, or Settings Swipe to the right edge: Swipe to search, share, or access PC settings. Pinch & Zoom 8 Enlarge Pinch to Zoom: In certain apps (such as Maps, Browser, and Gallery), you can zoom in and out by placing two fingers on the screen at once. Pinch together to zoom out and spread them apart to zoom in. Slide Downward Swipe downward from top edge: To access app commands. Slide with Finger Slide finger side to side to move an image. Swipe from the bottom edge: Swipe finger upwards from the bottom edge to find other app commands. 9 What are Charms? Charms help you get things done on your Tablet including Search, Print, Share, and changing your Tablet settings. From the right edge of the screen, swipe your finger inward to bring up the Charm Menu column. Search files, App programs and everything on the web or type in the search box. Open a particular file, photo, or website you wish to share using the Share charm. Swipe inward from the right edge of the screen and tap (or click) Settings > Share. To post on a social media site, tap (or click) People. To read a page later, tap (or click) Reading List. To email a link, tap (or click) Mail To share a screenshot, tap (or click) Screenshot Open the Start Menu screen. You can also use this function to return to the application program last opened. Connect an external screen or printer to the Tablet PC. Or access other PC setting options including the Control Panel, Activate Windows, Set the Time, Updates and Recovery. Personalize and set up the Tablet through a custom adjustment of settings. 10 Launching Apps Press the Start button to access and launch Apps on the Tablet. Swipe inward from the left edge of the screen to view open apps; swipe inward from the right edge of the screen to access the Charm menu to Search, Share, view todays Date & Time, Battery level or to access Settings. In order to move an app from the App Menu to the Home Screen, touch and hold the App. Then drag it to the desired screen. To remove it, touch and hold the App, then drag it to the “Remove” icon at the top of the screen. Apps Menu To display the menu of all apps found on your Tablet, tap and slide your finger upward from anywhere below the Start Menu tiles until the Apps Menu appears. Type the name or scroll (up, down, right) to view desired apps as there are multiple menus. To add (or pin) an app to the Start screen, tap and hold for two (2) seconds. A checkmark will appear next to the app. To unpin from Start or uninstall, use the same process, then uncheck. To return to the Start Menu and dismiss the Apps Menu, tap and slide your finger downward from the top of the screen. To Close Desktop Apps You don’t necessarily have to close apps in Windows. When you switch to another app, the original continues to run in the background and will close eventually if not used. To completely close, drag the app to the bottom of the screen, and hold it there until the app flips over. View open apps and services in Task Manager (Type Task Manager into Search to find this app). NOTE: Too many open apps will greatly reduce battery life between charges. 11 View Apps Side by Side To display two apps together side-by-side swipe an open app inward from the left edge, drag it and hold. Release to one side. A dual screen interface will appear to place the second application. To change one of the apps, go to Start Menu or the Apps view and tap (or click) on an app. It will appear on top of the first two apps. To undo the dual screen tap the middle partition line and drag to the right or left edge. Windows Desktop Access To access the standard Windows Desktop which includes the familiar taskbar, icons, folders, and File Explorer, tap the DESKTOP tile found in the Start Menu. Tap the Windows icon to access. 12 Connecting To the Internet This Tablet utilizes WiFi 802.11b/g/n networks to connect with the internet so that you may access the world-wide-web, send emails, and download apps. (WiFi distance may be affected by your surrounding environment and WiFi router). In order to connect to the internet, you will need the following: or Wireless Router WI-FI Available Here + Network Name/SSID Password Connect to a WiFi Network Open the Settings charm by swiping your finger inward from the right edge of the screen, then tap (or click) Settings. Tap the wireless network icon . Under WiFi, tap the network you wish to connect to, then tap (or click) Connect. When prompted, type and enter the password. Disconnect from a WiFi Network Open the Settings charm. Tap the wireless network icon that is “Connected”. Tap the network with connected status, then tap (or click) Disconnect. 13 Built-In Apps Skype and Contacts Skype: Add contacts With Skype calls and video chat via computer, you can stay in touch with anyone in the U.S. for free. Once you have added friends, you can make Skype calls and send instant messages. To get started using Skype: 1. On the Start screen, tap (or click) Skype. 2. Sign in with your Microsoft account and your Messenger friends will be automatically added to your existing list of contacts. If you already have a Skype account, you can merge it with your Microsoft account by following the on-screen instructions. 3. Add your contacts. OneDrive Personal Cloud Storage OneDrive is an online cloud storage that comes with 15GB when you create your Microsoft account. Save documents, photos, music, movies and other files on OneDrive. They are available from any web-connected device including your Tablet to use and share with others. Add files to your OneDrive then access them from your Tablet. 1. Go to the computer with the files that you want to copy to the Tablet. 2. Go to OneDrive.com and upload the files. 3. To access your files once uploaded, from the Start screen tap on OneDrive. Then navigate accordingly. Your Tablet box contains an activation card with access to a one year subscription to Office 365 Personal. It includes popular programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, 14 Publisher, and Access. Position the tablet in Portrait orientation, then double tap the keyboard icon in the task bar to enter the product key and activate. Then follow instructions to complete the installation. Once installed find Office programs in the Apps Menu. From there you may pin programs to the Start Menu or Desktop task bar (see pg. 21). Mail Use the Mail app to read and reply to email messages from all of your accounts. You can add Outlook.com, Gmail, Yahoo, AOL and Exchange email accounts to the app. To add an email account: At the Start Menu screen, tap (or click) Mail. Swipe inward from the right edge of the screen and open the Settings charm. Tap Accounts > Add an Account People The People app is your address book and social app. When connected with your social media accounts you will get updates, tweets, photos, and more. In addition, you can make comments or retweet without switching apps. To add contacts: At the Start Menu screen, tap (or click) People. Swipe inward from the right edge of the screen and open the Settings charm. Tap (or click) Accounts > Add an Account OneNote OneNote syncs with OneDrive, your personal cloud account, so you can view, update, and organize all of your notes, photos, files, and sketches. Share group notebooks to collaborate anywhere. Everything is saved automatically. 15 Maps Search Maps and get directions based on your current location or view traffic one the highway before you begin your commute or family vacation. Calendar Combine most of your calendars into the Calendar app so that reminders and notifications about events and scheduled appointments are not missed. You must have a Microsoft account. NOTE: Google calendar cannot sync with the Calendar app Music Open the Music app to play music you’ve downloaded to your Tablet. In addition, you can purchase or stream from an extensive library of music only found at the Xbox Music Store. Discover new music specific to your musical taste by creating radio stations based on your favorite artists. To create a radio station tap (or click) Radio > Create New Station Note: An Xbox Music account is required. Data charges, features and content may vary. Video Watch home movies or rent TV shows and movies from the Xbox Video Store. The Video app features Instant-On streaming to view your program immediately and in high definition. 16 Camera Open the Camera app to take unique photos and video movies. Simply swipe down from top edge of the screen to view options including settings for timer, exposure, and switching between the front and rear camera. Photos Open the Photos app to view all of your video and camera roll files and folders on your tablet. You can edit and adjust color tones and effects. Swipe down from top edge of the screen and tap Edit. Import photos from your camera, phone, flash drive or TF memory card or share photos stored on your Tablet. Open the Photos app and select photos you wish to share. Swipe down (or rightclick) to select then open the Share charm. Xbox Games Discover the latest Xbox games made for Windows 8.1 and then see which of your friends and family are online and what games they are playing. Stock Market Get the latest financial news, check your stocks and create watch lists. With My Finance you can track all of your investment accounts in one place. 17 Overview of Tablet Features Front & Rear Cameras Your Tablet features two 2MP cameras. Use the front-facing camera for Skype video chat, taking “selfies”, or shooting 720p HD videos. Use the rear-facing camera to record meetings, take snapshots, or make presentations. Open the Camera app then tap the on-screen Photo or Video button to initialize. View and Edit Photos View photos and movies you’ve taken with the Camera, Photos, & OneDrive app: Camera app: Swipe to the right to view recent photos and videos. You can also swipe down from the top edge of the screen, and then tap Camera Roll. Photos, File Explorer, or the OneDrive app: Go to the Pictures folder, and then to the Camera Roll Make automatic corrections through the Photos app. Experiment with lighting and color adjustments, effects, cropping and rotation. 1. Open a photo in the Camera, Photos, or the OneDrive app. 2. Swipe down from the top edge of the screen. 3. Tap Edit. 4. Choose auto and basic fixes, light and color adjustments, and effects. 5. Swipe down from the top edge to save your changes. 18 Connecting External USB Devices Your Tablet includes a USB port to connect accessory devices such as a music player, phone, printer, external flash or hard drive, keyboard/mouse, and more. Once plugged in the first time, Windows installs the proper software if needed, automatically. NOTE: Only devices that have been designed for Windows 8.1 work properly out of the box or installs to the Tablet automatically with the necessary software. Some older devices may not be compatible. Add a Bluetooth Device Your Tablet is compatible with Bluetooth capable devices. Once Windows searches and finds the Bluetooth device, follow on-screen instructions to complete the pairing of the device with the Tablet. Add or “pair” a Bluetooth compatible device with your Tablet as follows: 1. Turn on the compatible Bluetooth device and make it discoverable. 2. Open the Settings charm, tap (or click) Change PC Settings > PC and devices > Bluetooth. 3. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on. Wait while Windows searches for the device then enter the appropriate password. Connect Your Tablet to an HDTV, Projector, or Monitor With an optional mini-HDMI adapter to full size HDMI cable, connect your Tablet to an HDTV to watch movies on a large screen, make presentations on an HD projector, or add another monitor to work with multiple apps. TF Memory Card Slot At some point you may require additional space on your Tablet for additional music, video, photo or business files. Insert an optional TF style memory card with a storage capacity up to 64GB. 19 Office 365 Personal Usage After activating your Office 365 Personal software you can access Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, OneNote and Publisher from the Apps Menu. From there you can select to move to the Desktop task bar or pin to the Start Menu. Press the Apps Menu. Start key to access the Start Menu, then drag your finger upward to access the Swipe your finger to access the additional App screen to the right. Highlight and open apps by tapping on it. 20 You can pin Office programs to the Start Menu in the form of tiles or pin to the Task Bar on the Desktop. Press and hold a program, then drag to pin to the Start Menu or Task Bar. To place Office icons on your Desktop, tap “Open File Location”. Reduce the screen (as shown) so that the Desktop is exposed then drag and drop your selection of files onto the Desktop. 21 Using Windows 8.1 Using Tiles Tiles are used to open apps, receive alerts and notifications, receive the latest weather and sports news, and to access your favorite websites, important files or contacts (from your People app). For convenience, pin apps to the Start Menu by dragging them from your App Menu. Swipe up from the center of the Start screen to view all of your apps in the App Menu. To turn off a “live” tile in the Start Menu, tap it, then Turn Life Tile Off. Add a Printer To add a printer, swipe inward from the left side of screen, tap (or click) Settings > Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add a Printer How Can I Print or Scan? To Print: Select document, then open the Devices charm. Tap Print To Scan: Use the Scan application to scan documents, photos, etc. Swipe upward from the center of the Start screen and tap (or click) Scan. Games and Programs at the Windows Store The Windows Store has all the apps you’re looking for. Start searching for apps in top categories such as games, entertainment, music, sports, eBooks, News, Food & Dining, Travel, business and more. Once you have signed up for a Microsoft account, you can download and install apps from the Windows Store. From the Windows Store app, open the Settings charm and tap (or click) Your Account to add a method of payment. To acquire apps, tap (or click) the Store tile and sign in. 22 Installing Programs You can download and install applications from the Windows Store, or from other trusted publisher, a CD/DVD from an external device, and from your home or business network. Most programs written for Windows 7 will also work with Windows 8 however some older programs may run poorly or not at all. Deleting Apps Should you wish to remove an app, you can uninstall it. Go to the Start Menu and swipe up from the center of the screen to access the Apps Menu. Then tap and hold the app you wish to delete for 2-3 seconds. Options will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap UNINSTALL Reinstall Apps To reinstall purchased apps that were once deleted, (and if still available in the Windows Store): 1. Open the Windows Store tile and sign in. 2. Swipe down from top of the screen, tap Your Apps. 3. Tap the app you wish to install, then Install. Activate Office 365 Personal Your Tablet comes with a one year subscription for Office 365 Personal. Activate your account using the enclosed activation card. Enter your 25 character keys then follow the processes to complete the activation. 23 View Downloads To view downloads, use the Search box and type in Search Downloads. Tap on the selected file to view. Personalize Your Tablet Change the appearance of the Desktop and lock screen. Swipe inward from the right edge of the display then open Settings > Personalization. Choose from several themes and desktop colors, backgrounds, and sounds. Create tiles for your favorite websites and contacts or rearrange, resize, unpin, and group tiles. Take Screenshots Tablet: Hold down the Windows Start Menu button, then simultaneously hold down the volume down button. The screen will dim for a moment. To access, open the Start Menu and tap the Photos app. You will see a folder called Screenshots where all screenshot photos will automatically be placed. Windows Start Menu key and the Prt Scn buttons With keyboard attached: Hold down the simultaneously. The screen will dim for a moment. To access, go to the Desktop and to any open folder. In the pane on the left side under This PC click on Pictures. There will be a Screenshots folder. Click to view. 24 Settings Change PC Settings Changing settings is easy on your Tablet. Most settings you may wish to change are found in PC Settings. Some of these are displayed after you open the Settings charm. Then tap Change PC Settings or type into the Search box. Control Panel To access the Control Panel, swipe inward from the right edge of the screen and tap the Settings charm > Change PC Settings. Locate the Control Panel at bottom left of screen and tap to access in order to adjust your tablet/computer settings. PC and Devices Personalize your device’s display, Bluetooth settings, lock screen, power saver controls, and more. Managing Accounts Sign in with a Microsoft account to access email, photos, files and settings on all of your devices. To manage your user accounts open the Settings charm, then Change PC Settings > Accounts > Other Accounts or from the Control Panel > User Accounts. Passwords (and creating a password reset disk) CAUTION: DO NOT CREATE A PASSWORD WITHOUT CREATING A PASSWORD RESET DISK OR WRITING IT DOWN AND KEEPING IN A SAFE PLACE! To choose or change a password, open the Settings charm, then tap (or click) PC Settings > Accounts > Sign-In Options. Under Password tap Add, and type in a password. Password Disk Insert your removable media (such as a thumb or external drive). Press the Start button then swipe inward from the right edge of the screen to access the Charm menu > Settings. Tap (or click) Control Panel > User Accounts and Family Safety, 25 and then User Accounts In the left pane, tap (or click) Create a password reset disk, and follow the instructions. NOTE: Make sure you store the Password Reset disk or drive is kept in a safe place. Create a PIN Instead of using a password you may create a simple 4 digit PIN number. Open the Settings charm, then tap (or click) PC Settings > Accounts > Sign-In Options. Under PIN tap Add, type in your current password, choose OK, then type in your 4 digit PIN numbers. OneDrive Once you sign in with your Microsoft account, you can save files to the OneDrive personal cloud service. 15GB of cloud storage is available for free. Ease of Access Using Narrator, Microsoft’s voice screen reader you can set up to hear text and controls. In addition you can make adjustments to visual, touchscreen and mouse /keyboard functions. Disk Space Available (on tablet and OneDrive) View how much disk space is available on your tablet. Open the Settings charm, tap (or click) Change PC Settings > Search and Apps > App Sizes NOTE: Your tablet includes pre-installed software, applications, and the Windows operating system that use up considerable storage space. Use OneDrive as cloud storage included with your Microsoft account. Save files directly to OneDrive. To view available storage space, open the Settings charm, tap (or click) Change PC Settings > OneDrive > File Storage 26 Update and Recovery Set up automatic Windows software updates; access File History which automatically backs up copies of your files to another drive to keep them from damage or loss; access Recovery to refresh, or reinstall your Tablet to its factory default settings. 27 Basic Recovery Creating a Backup Using File History, you can back up files on to an external or network drive, including all of your Music, Videos, Photos, Documents, Spreadsheets and Desktop folders. Set Up File History After connecting an external drive to your Tablet, if a display notification appears asking to configure the drive for File History, then tap it and turn on File History. Otherwise 1. Swipe inward from the right edge of the screen, then tap Search. 2. From the search box type in File History settings, then tap File History Settings. 3. Tap Select a Drive. Choose the external or network drive to use. 4. Turn on File History. Refresh, Restore or Reset Factory Settings In the event you encounter problems with your Tablet, there are a number of ways to correct it found within the Tablet. You may wish to refresh it. This installs Windows, while keeping your files, settings, and apps untouched. Swipe inward from the right edge of the screen. Open the Settings charm then tap Change PC Settings > Update and Recovery > Recovery. Under Refresh Your PC without Affecting Your Files, tap Get Started > Next > Refresh Restoring your Tablet will return it back to an earlier timeframe. It will not change your personal files however it may remove apps and drivers that were recently installed.
