PROGRAMMING THE REMOTE CONTROL Programming of the remote control to control a particular device shall be accomplished by either of two methods: - Entering a three—digit device code 0 Using a search method The remote control can operate up to eight separate audio and video devices. To program the remote control for your device, use the following steps: 2.1 PREPROGRAMMED SET UP 2.1.1 Entering a Three-Digit Device Code 1. Turn on the device you wish to operate manually, 2, Find the three digit Set-Up code number for your device from the code tables. Press the matching [DEVICE] button (AUD, CD, DVD, AUX, SAT, TV, VCR or CBL) and [MUTE] button simultaneously. The SET will appear in the LCD. SET appears in the LCD for 20 seconds to indicate that the remote control is ready to be programmed. The following steps must be entered while SET appeai's in the LCD. 4. Point the remote control toward the device and press the three digit code number for that device using the number buttons (0—9) on the remote control SET followed by the number will appear in the LCD. Your device will turn off when the correct Set-Up Code number has been selected. If the device does not turn off, press in the next Set-Up Code number from the list. 5. Once the device turns off, press the [DEVICE] button selected in the step 3 once again to store the Set-Up Code number. PASS will blink and display the device name. Note. Test the remote control for your device. Try the POWER, Channel Up and Down, Volume Up and Down buttons, etc. If any of the buttons do not perform as they should, please repeat the set-up from Step 1 using the next Set-Up code number for your device. 6. Please repeat the above steps to program the remote control for each of your other devices. 2.1.2 Using the Auto Search Method Turn on the device you wish to operate manually. 2. Press the matching [DEVICE] button (AUD, CD, DVD, AUX, SAT, TV, VCR or CBL) and [MUTE] button simultaneously. The SET will appear in the LCD. SET appears in the LCD for 20 seconds to indicate that the remote control is ready to be programmed. The following steps must be entered while SET appears in the LCD. 3. Point the remote control toward the device and press the [CH +] button on the remote control. Each button press sends the signal for one Set-Up Code number. Keeping the [CH +] button pressed produces a quick seaming of the Set-Up Code numbers Release the [CH +] button as soon as the device turns off. Please Note. If you pass the correct Set-Up Code number, you can retum to it by pressing the [CI-I —] button, one Set-Up Code number at a time, until your device turns back on. 4. Once the correct code is confirmed, press the [DEVICE] button to store the Set-Up Code number. PASS will blink and display the device name. 5. URC Proprietary II 1 7 Form E75; Universal mm Count. the URC Proprletary II 2.1.3 Programming a Second Devlce to Other Device Buttons This feature is used to program the remote control for two or more TVs, VCRs, etc, or to program a device into a mode with a different Device Button name. You can store the three-digit Set-Up Code number for any device into any other Device button. Example: If your home entertainment system contains two TVs. First, using the TV Device button, program the remote via standard set-up to operate the first TV. Then, program your second TV into the AUX Button that is not being used. It Turn on the device [TV] you wish to operate manually. 2. Find the three-digit Set-Up code number for your device [TV] from the code tables. 3. Press the DEVICE button [AUX] that you will assign for the device and [MUTE] button simultaneously. The SET will appear in the LCD. SET appears in the LCD for 20 seconds to indicate that the remote control is ready to be programmed The following steps must be entered while SET appears in the LCD 4. Point the remote control toward the device [TV] and press the three digit code number for that device [TV] . using the number buttons (0-9) on the remote control. The LCD will blink the Device button name twice and then display the three digit number that was stored for your device in that mod 2.2 LEARNING SET UP The remote control has the ability to learn new functions from your original remote controls: Notel All buttons in all device modes can learn, except the [LIGHT] and [SHIFT] buttons. Note2. The 8 device buttons at the top of the remote control labeled (AUD, CD DVD, AUX, SAT, TV, VCR or the [SHIFT] and then press a [DEVICE] button. Note3. The [RECORD] button can be learned in all device modes by pressing the [SHIFT] and then press [STOP] button The [SHE-7T] button function is not applied to other buttons except the specified buttons above in the Learning Set Up mode. Note3. Leamed functioned override any existing preprogrammed functions on the remote control. Note4. Learned functions are automatically erased when a new function is learned on the same button. URC Proprietary lI Learning New Function on the Remote Place the URC-lOO and the original remote control to be learned from, on a flat surface. Line up the remote controls head to head, about 2 to 3 inches apart. Press and hold the [DEVICE] button (AUD, CD, DVD, AUX, SAT, TV, VCR or CBL) you wish to learn and [SEL] button simultaneously for about three seconds, until the LCD shows LEARN. The remote is now in the learning mode. Note: Each of the following steps must be completed within 20 seconds. If the remote does not receive any new commands with in the allotted time, it will return to its normal operating mode. 3. Press and release a button on the URC~100 you have selected to learn the new function The LCD will show READY. Press and hold the button on the original remote control for about 2 seconds from which you are learning the new function. The LCD will show -»-- indicating that it is receiving the information fiom the original remote control. Release the button on the original remote control. The [CD will show RETRY. Press and hold the same button on the original remote once again, for about 2 seconds The LCD will flash GOOD and then return to LEARN verifying that the new function has been stored. Repeat Steps 3 through 6 for any other buttons you wish to learn new functions. Once you have completed the lean-ring for all desired buttons in a device mode, store the learned functions by pressing the [DEVICE] and [SEL] buttons simultaneously, once again. The LCD will show SAVED and then return to the current device mode. Note: If the LCD shows FAHc at any time during the lean-ring process, the remote was unable to learn the new functions. Please repeat from Step 3. Erasing Learned Functions To erase learned functions, please refer to the following procedures: 2.2.2.1 Erasing Individual Buttons: 1. 2. Press the [DEVICE] button for the mode where the learned function has been stored. Press and hold the [DEVICE] and [SEL] buttons simultaneously for about three seconds, until the LCD shows LEARN. The LCD will flash ERASE, CLEAR, the device name and then return to LEARN. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for any other buttons to be erased. To return to the normal operating mode, press the [DEVICE] and [SEL] buttons simultaneously. 2.2.2.2 Erasing All Buttons In One Devlce Mode: 1. Press the [DEVICE] button for the mode where the learned function has been stored. Press and hold the [DEVICE] and [SEL] buttons simultaneously for about three seconds, until the LCD shows LEARN. The remote is now in the learning mode. Press and hold the [DEVICE] and [SHIFI] buttons simultaneously for five seconds until the LCD will flash ERASE. URc Proprletary ll 2.2.2.3 Erasing All Buttons In All Devloe Modes 1. Press and hold the [TV] and [SHIFT] buttons simultaneously for ten seconds until the LCD will flash ERASE, The LCD will flash ERASE 10 times and then flash CLEAR and then return to the TV Device Mode. Note: When the LCD on the remote retums to TV, all the learned functions in all eight devices mode have been erased. All the buttons in all device modes will now operate with the preprogrammed functions in their respective modes. 2.3 PUNCH THROUGH 2.3.1 Volume Control “Punch Through" You can program the remote control so that either the AUDIO or TV volume control (Volume Up, Down and MUTE) will also operate in other modes on the remote control. Example: If you want to operate Volume control of Audio receiver while remote control is in the Satellite model 1. Select the mode [SAT] that you wish to program for Volume Control “Punch Through”. * 2. Press the corresponding DEVICE button [SAT] and [MUTE] buttons simultaneously. The SET will appear in the LCD. SET appears in the LCD for 20 seconds to indicate that the remote control is ready to be programmed. The following steps must be entered while SET appears in the LCD. 3. Press the [SHIFT] button. PUNCH will appear in the LCD. 4. Press the [VOL UP] button. VOL will appear in the LCD. 5, Press the [AUDIO] device button to set-up for Audio volume control. AUDIO will blink in the LCD. 2.3.2 Channel Control “Punch Through” You can program the remote control so that either the SAT or Cable Channel Controls (CI-I Up and Down) will also operate in other modes on the remote control. Example: Change Channel Up and Down on your Cable box while the remote is in the TV mode. 1. Select the mode [TV] that you wish to program for Channel Control "Punch Through”. 2. Press the corresponding DEVICE button [TV] and [MUTE] buttons simultaneously. The SET will appear in the LCD. SET appears in the LCD for 20 seconds to indicate that the remote control is ready to be programmed. The following steps must be entered while SET appears in the LCD. 3. Press the [SHIFT] button. PUNCH will appear in the LCD. 4. Press the [VOL Down] button. CH will appear in the LCD. mmmmnm-. | r - I-Y-‘mi'mll! 2.3.3 Transport Control “Punch Through" You can program the remote control so that either the DVD or CD Transport Controls (Play, Stop, FF, Rewind, Pause and Record) will also operate in other modes on the remote control. PUNCH will appear in the LCD. 4. Press the [PLAY] button. PLAY will appear in the LCD. 5. Press the [DVD] device button to set»up for DVD Transport control. DVD will blink in the LCD. 2.3.4 VOD Control “Punch Through” You can program the remote control so that either the Cable or Satellite VOD Controls (Menu, Guide, Info, Exit, Select, Up, Down, Lefi, Right) will also operate in other modes on the remote control. Example: Control Cable VOD functions while the remote is in the TV mode. 1. Select the mode [TV] that you wish to program for Transport Control “Punch Through”. 2. Press the corresponding DEVICE button [TV] and [MUTE] buttons simultaneously. The SET will appear in the LCD. SET appears in the LCD for 20 seconds to indicate that the remote control is ready to be programmed. The following steps must be entered while SET appears in the LCD. 3. Press the [SHIFT] button. PUNCH will appear in the LCD. 4. Press the [GUIDE] button. VOD will appear in the [CD 5. Press the [CABLE] device button to set-up for Cable VOD control. CABLE will blink in the LCD. 2.3.5 Power Control “Punch Through" You can program the remote control so that either the TV or Audio Power Controls (Power On and Off) will also operate in other modes on the remote control. Example: Control Cable Power function while the remote is in the TV mode. 1. Select the mode [TV] that you wish to program for Power Control “Punch Through". 2. Press the corresponding DEVICE button [TV] and [MUTE] buttons simultaneously. The SET will appear in the LCD. SET appears in the LCD for 20 seconds to indicate that the remote control is ready to be programmed. The following steps must be entered while SET appears in the LCD. Press the [SHIFT] button. PUNCH will appear in the LCD. 4. Press the [Power ON] button. Power will appear in the LCD. 5, Press the [CABLE] device button to set-up for Cable Power function. CABLE will blink in the LCD. 2.4 MACRO MEMORY BUTTONS 'j There are ten memory‘buttons Power On, 6in andTDevrce buttons) that are designed to store up toil?) commands in each button. You can program up to 30 commands on the 8 Device buttons in AUDIO mode and you can program up to 30 commands on the Power On and OFF buttons in each 8 modes. 2.4.1 Programming Memory Buttons Example: To program Memory button, POWER ON, in the Audio mode to send the following commands: to turn on the AUDIO receiver, turn on the TV, turn on the VCR and tum on the Satellite receiver. Press the [TV] device button and then press the [POWER ON] button (to turn on the TV). Ml-02 will appear in the LCD. 5. Press the [VCR] device button and then press the [POWER ON] button (to turn on the VCR). M1-03 will appear in the LCD. 6. Press the [SAT] device button and then press the [POWER ON] button (to turn on the Satellite). M1-04 will appear in the LCD. 7. Press the [Channel Up] button to store your selections. SAVE will flash two times in the LCD. Notel: Pressing the [PAUSE] button during the macro programming will add a time delay of 0.2 seconds between the commands; Note2: Press & Hold function: Pressing the [PAUSE] button before the macro programming will make that the remote will send out the macro commands when the button is pressed for 1 second. 2.4.2 Erasing Memory Buttons 1. Press the corresponding DEVICE button [AUD] and [MUTE] button simultaneously. The SET will appear in the LCD. SET appears in the DCD for 20 seconds to indicate that the remote control is ready to be programmed. The following steps must be entered while SET appears in the LCD. 2. Press the [POWER ON] button. M1 -# will appear in the LCD. 3. Press the [Channel Up] button. SAVE will flash two times in the LCD. 2.5 CHANGING THE LCD DISPLAY You can change the display for each Device name of the remote control. To change the AUDIO device name: 1. Press the [AUDIO] device button and [ENTER] button simultaneously for three seconds. The EDIT will appear in the LCD and then “A” character of AUDIO will blink in the LCD. 2. Select the character using the number pad on the remote control. The characters assigned to each number pad button are shown below. The back light is extended a 11 additional 10 seconds with any button press while the back light is on Note: The back light is turned off by pressing the LIGHT button while the back light is on. 2.7 LOW VOLTAGE MESSAGE When the LCD flashes “L»BAT", the batteries should be replaced 2.8 FACTORY RESET Pressing the [POWER OFF] and [STOP] buttons for 10 seconds will erase all learned and pr-programrned programs in the remote control and reset it to the factory default states The LCD will blink “ERASE” 9 times, clear and then AUDIO.
