Page 1CCGEN2 CP-2 ADVANCED NETWORK SYSTEM CONTROLLERIntroductionCongratulations on purchasing the ccGEN2 CP-2 Central Processorfor automation and control. Using the ccGEN2 line of interfacesprovides you full access and control for every compatible deviceusing IR, IP, RS-232, and Relays. This network based control is alsocompatible with URC sensors, like audio sensor and video sensor, which detects the status of a device and provides automation triggers. The CP-2 makes it easy to turn on multiple devices at once such asa TV and Blu-Ray, even lights with one button press. Enjoy controlling your space!Features and BenefitslStores and issues commands and macros for all IP, IR, RS-232, Relay to compatible devices and other ccGEN2series base stations in the system.lProvides two-way communication with ccGEN2 interfaces.(RM-1 remote requires optional AZ-1 to be compatible with CP-2)lControl URC Lighting with an optional RFTX-1 RF Transmitter.lCan be programmed offsite via the internet.Parts GuideThe CP-2 Advanced Network System Controller includes:1 - Central Processor1 - Sleeved Emitter for RFTX-1 port1 - Wall Mount and 4 Screws1 - AC Power Adapter5 - Standard Emitters/Flashers1 - Adjustment Tool1 - Installation Manual

LAN Connection: RJ45 standard Ethernet connection to thelocal network. Relays (NO, NC, COM): Programmable relay to be normallyopened (NO), normally closed (NC) or momentary contact. Anapplication shall require less than 30V/.5A. RS-232: Two RS-232 ports support Tx(Transmit), Rx(Receive) and GND(Ground) connections for two-way communication.Compatible with URC cables RS232F and RS232M.Sensors: Two sensor ports allow programming of state dependentand triggered automation macros. Compatible with URC Video(SEN-VID), Voltage (SEN-VOLT), Audio (SEN-AUD), Current (SEN-CMF), Light (SEN-LITE), and Contact Closure (SEN-CCLS) sensors. IR Outputs: Six standard 3.5mm IR emitter ports with individualoutput level adjustment screws. Always use the supplied sleevedemitter with pink connector, in port #6. Plugging a regular emitterto this port may cause it to damage the unit and prevent it fromoperating correctly. RFTX-1 Port: Connect the included 3.5mm stereo to 3.5mm stereoto the optional RFTX-1 transmitter and control URC Lighting products via 418MHz or 433.92MHz wireless RF.Reset: Press and release to reboot. Installing the CP-2Physical Installation of the CP-2 and AccessoriesThe CP-2 Central Processor can be installed anywhere in the homeor office network. Once installed, program it to operate all localequipment using IP/Network, IR, RS-232, or Relays. As well as querythe status of a device using Sensors. All cables are plugged into theirrespective ports in the rear of the unit. Network Installation1. Connect an Ethernet cable (RJ45) to the rear of the CP-2 and ontothe network.2. Plug flashers into any of the six IR outputs on the rear of the CP-2.(Make sure the 3.5mm pink connector cable is reserved for port#6.)Page 4CCGEN2 CP-2 ADVANCED NETWORK SYSTEM CONTROLLER
Page 5Optimizing IR Flasher LevelsTest a few commands for each device before fixing the flasher inplace on the front panel of a device. Since Satellite Receivers andCable Boxes are extremely sensitive to IR overload or saturation, youshould test them thoroughly. Put up the cable or satellite on-screen guide and test the navigation arrows. Compare operationvia RF to the original remote control. Operation should be identical. If operation is inconsistent or sluggish, lower the IR line outputand/or reposition the flasher. If you still have sluggish operation, check that the remote control isset to a particular LINE OUT, rather than ALL. When IR commandsare sent to all the flashers in a cabinet, you can have difficultyadjusting the IR Output. Reprogram the remote control to send IRcommands only via a specific (1-6) Line Output, then readjust the IRLine Output level.1. Connect an IR emitter to each IR output and run the emitter wireto the front panel of each component. DO NOT STICK the emitterin place. Adjust the level first.2. Adjust each of the IR Output levels with the included adjustmenttool for best operation. If the component operates best at minimumlevel, but is still operating sluggishly or intermittently, move theemitter farther away from the component’s IR sensor.RS-232 ConnectionThe CP-2 can operate equipment via RS-232 communication. Thisallows discrete serial commands to be triggered from a ccGEN2remote to a CP-2. The signal is then sent to the device overproprietary URC RS-232 cables. These use either male or female DB-9 connections with standard pin-outs. CCGEN2 CP-2 ADVANCED NETWORK SYSTEM CONTROLLER
Page 6Using Sensors with the CP-2The CP-2 uses sensors to detect audio, light, video, voltage, currentand contact closures to determine the equipment status, query the stateof a device or other automation triggers for the equipment it controls. For example, using a video sensor cable with the CP-2 can detect avideo signal from a composite or component video output. Page 7Wiring to the Relay on the CP-2The CP-2 has a Relay with three contacts, NO, NC, and COM. Thesecan be used as dry contacts or to an electrical switch or motor for usewith screens, blinds, curtains, etc. The Relay can be programmed aseither a latching or a momentary contact. Using an RFTX-1 for URC One-Way Lighting productsThe CP-2 can use an RFTX-1, via the available RFTX-1 port. Itcontrols URC One-Way Lighting products at 418 or 433.92 MHz. Use the included 3.5mm to 3.5mm to connect to the RFTX-1 andplug the other end into the RFTX-1 port (#6).CCGEN2 CP-2 ADVANCED NETWORK SYSTEM CONTROLLERRFTX-1
