PRO SW-14 12-Inch 100-Watt Subwoofer
The subwoofer has a down-firing 12inch driver with a dual 2-inch voice
coil. You can connect both stereo
channels to a single subwoofer.

CHOOSING A LOCATION
FOR THE SUBWOOFER

Your Optimus PRO SW-14 12-Inch
100-Watt Subwoofer is designed to
add the dramatic realism of solid bass
response (below 150 Hz) to many
speaker systems that lack the ability
to reproduce these frequencies on
their own. The subwoofer’s bass reflex
design provides clean bass response
in the crucial bottom octave of the audible range.

Because low frequencies are much
less directional than other sounds, you
can use a single subwoofer for both
stereo channels and you can put the
subwoofer almost anywhere within
your listening area. However, to simplify connections, it is usually best to
put the subwoofer between the left
and right stereo speakers.

The subwoofer’s effect is most dramatic when it is used with stereo
speakers such as RadioShack PRO7s and PRO-77s. The stereo speakers
reproduce the high, midrange, and upper bass frequencies, while the subwoofer reproduces the low bass
frequencies. This results in heightened presence and clarity across the
entire audio range.

ADDING THE SUBWOOFER TO YOUR
SPEAKER SYSTEM

With the subwoofer in the selected location, measure the distance from it to
each speaker, and to your receiver/
amplifier. Then follow these steps to
connect the subwoofer.
Notes:
• Use 18-gauge speaker wire for
distances up to 25 feet.
• Use 16-gauge speaker wire for
distances greater than 25 feet.
• To maximize the bass response,
you must connect the receiver/
amplifier’s positive (+) and negative (–) terminals to the subwoofer’s corresponding positive
(+) and negative (–) terminals.

2

You can easily do this by using
speaker wire that has a stripe or a
ridge on one conductor. Your local
RadioShack store has a wide
selection of speaker wire.
1. Connect the subwoofer’s INPUT
terminals to the appropriate left
and right speaker terminals on
your amplifier.
2. Connect the subwoofer’s OUTPUT terminals to the corresponding left and right stereo speaker.

MAINTENANCE
Your Optimus PRO SW-14 12-Inch 100-Watt Subwoofer is an example of superior
design and craftsmanship. The following suggestions will help you care for the subwoofer so you can enjoy it for years.
Keep the subwoofer and cabinet dry. If they get wet, wipe them immediately. Liquids might contain minerals that can corrode electronic
circuits and harm the finish on the cabinet.

Keep the subwoofer away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature wear of parts.

CLEANER

Wipe the subwoofer cabinet occasionally with a cloth dampened with
furniture polish. This will help keep it looking new. Do not use harsh
chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents.
Caution: You might permanently damage your subwoofer enclosure’s grille or speaker elements by cleaning them with a vacuum
cleaner. Instead, use a feather duster or a soft cloth.

Modifying or tampering with your subwoofer’s internal components can cause a
malfunction and might invalidate its warranty. If your subwoofer is not operating as
it should, take it to your local RadioShack store for assistance.
