IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
To reduce the risk of re, electric shock and/or injury to persons, basic safety precautions should always
be followed when using electrical appliances, including the following:

DECANTER USE AND CARE
Follow the instructions below to reduce or eliminate the chance of breaking the glass decanter or thermal
carafe:
1. This decanter is designed for use with your Oster® coeemaker and therefore must never be used
on a range top or in any oven, including a microwave oven.
2. Do not set a hot decanter on a wet or cold surface.
3. Do not use a cracked decanter or a decanter having a loose or weakened handle.
4. Do not clean the decanter with abrasive cleaners, steel wool pads or other abrasive materials.
5. Discard the decanter immediately if it is ever boiled dry.
6. Protect the decanter from sharp blows, scratches or rough handling.
CAUTION: Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during brewing cycles.

INTRODUCTION
Welcome and congratulations on the purchase of your new OSTER®
12 Cup COFFEEMAKER. Your new coeemaker will wake up with you
in the morning and provide you breaks and treats during your hectic
daily activities. How you enjoy your Oster® Coeemaker is up to you!
SPECIAl CORD SET INSTRUCTIONS
1. A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from a person or pet becoming
entangled in, or tripping over, a longer cord.
2. An extension cord may be purchased and used if care is exercised in its use.
3. If an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the extension cord must be at least
10 amps and 120 volts. The resulting extended cord must be arranged so that it will not drape
over a countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over accidentally.
4. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric
shock, this plug will t in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not t fully in the outlet,
reverse the plug. If it still does not t, contact a qualied electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way.
5. You can customize the length of the power cord so that it is the exact length you desire. To increase
the length of the power cord: grasp the power cord (not the power plug) and gently lift it out of the
slot, then pull it away from the coeemaker. To decrease the length of the power cord: grasp the
power cord (not the power plug), lift it out of the slot and gently feed it into the coeemaker. Lock
the cord in the slot when nished.

Your new Oster® Coeemaker has the following features:
Glass decanter series
The lter basket lifts out for fast
and easy cleaning and lling.
No need for paper lters.
Can’t wait for the coee to nish brewing? The Pause ‘n Serve
feature allows you up to 30 seconds to pour a cup of coee while the coeemaker
is still brewing. Carefully remove the decanter and the Pause ’n Serve feature will be
automatically activated, temporarily stopping the ow of coee into the decanter.
This feature allows you to keep your coee hot after
brewing. The non-stick attribute prevents the decanter from sticking to the surface
of the warming plate.
Lets you know when your coeemaker is “on”. Keeps coee
warm up to 2 hours then automatically shuts o.
Adjusts the brewing time to create a more full-avored coee.
The LED clock serves as a handy kitchen clock and allows you to set
the Delay Brew feature.
Would you like to wake up to a fresh pot of coee? The timer
allows you to preset when you would like the coeemaker to automatically
brew your coee, up to 24 hours in advance.
This safety feature keeps your coee warm for
2 hours after you brew, then automatically turns o.
NOTE: If you have selected any of the operating functions, the coeemaker will act
upon the last operation selected if the power is restored within 10 seconds after
a power outage.
Easily view the amount of water in the reservoir.
Before using your Oster® Coeemaker
Make sure your rst cup of coee is as good as can be by cleaning your Oster®
Coeemaker before its rst use. Just follow these simple steps:
Wash the decanter, decanter lid, lter basket and the permanent lter in a mixture
of mild detergent and water. Rinse each thoroughly (please refer to the parts diagram
listed above).
Replace all the parts and close the lid. Then, run a brew cycle with water only, without
adding coee and coee lter (see Brewing Coee Now section).
When brewing is complete, turn your coeemaker o, discard the water in the
decanter and rinse the decanter, decanter lid, and lter basket.
Your coeemaker is now ready to use. Enjoy it!

HOW TO
SETTING THE CLOCK AND DELAY BREW TIME
To Set the Clock:
1 Plug the power cord into a standard electrical
outlet.
2 Press the PROG button and the word CLOCK
appears. Press and hold the TIME button until you
reach the current time. The AM/PM indicator will light on the left of the display.
NOTE: Holding TIME for 3 seconds will speed the time up. Holding for 10 seconds will speed
it up again.
The clock is now set!
After setting the clock, simply press the PROG button twice (TIMER appears) (Figure 1),
and set the brew time by pressing and holding the TIME button. The AM/PM indicator
will light up on the clock display.
The Delay Brew Time is now set!
NOTE: To activate the DELAY BREW cycle, see the “Brewing Coee Later” section.
NOTE: After about 10 seconds normal clock time will appear. To check the programmed
time, push the PROGRAM button until you see TIMER on the display. The display will show
the time you have programmed the coee to brew.
PREPARING FOR USE
Selecting and Measuring Ground Coee
For best results, use a level tablespoon for ground coee measurement. Make sure you use
medium grind coee for a perfect brew.
Suggested Coee Measuring Chart
To Brew Ground Coee

1 cup = 5 . oz. of brewed coee
Use more or less coee to suit your taste
Adding Water and Ground Coee
1 Lift and open the lter basket lid. For your convenience,
you can lift out the removable lter basket.
2 Place a 10–12 cup paper cone-style lter or a permanent
lter into the removable lter basket. (Figure 2)
NOTE: If using paper lters, it is important that the sides of
the lter t ush against the side of the lter basket. If lter
collapse occurs, dampen the lter before placing in the lter
basket and adding ground coee and water.
3 Add the desired amount of coee and gently shake to
level the coee. See the Suggested Coee Measurement Chart.
4 Be sure the lter is properly centered and all the way down in the lter basket.
5 Fill the decanter with cold, fresh water to the desired capacity
(1 cup equals 5 ounces). For easy and accurate lling, the water markings on the
glass decanter show the amount of water needed to make the corresponding
desired number of cups. The amount of coee brewed will always be slightly less
than the amount of water poured in the water reservoir. This is due to the minimum
absorption of water by the coee grounds as well as steam.
6 Pour the water into the water reservoir. Do not ll past the “MAX line” or water will
ow out of the overll hole in the back of the water reservoir. Close the lid and place
the empty decanter onto the warming plate.
NOTE: Make sure the decanter is fully placed on the warming plate or the water and the
grounds will overow from the lter basket. An overow may cause personal injury or
damage to property.
CAUTION! To reduce the risk of damaging the decanter and/or the risk of personal injury,
do not add cold water to the decanter if the decanter is already hot. Allow the decanter to
cool before using.
BREWING COFFEE NOW
1 After completing the steps in the “Adding Water and Coee” section and with the
decanter and the lter basket securely in place.
2
Press the AUTO/ON/OFF Button to begin the brewing
cycle. The red indicator light will turn on to signal
that the coeemaker is brewing. When the brewing
cycle is complete, the coeemaker switches over to
the warming mode. Your coeemaker will keep your
coee hot for 2 hours, then automatically shut o.
While the coee is brewing, the Pause ’n Serve feature
allows you to sneak a cup of coee from the decanter.
To turn the coeemaker o, push the AUTO/ON/OFF
button until the light goes o. (g 3)
3 To enjoy a more full avored cup of coee, press the
STRONG BREW button once. The STRONG BREW blue
light will turn on. The coeemaker will remain in
the STRONG BREW you have selected until you change it back to REGULAR strength by
pressing the STRONG BREW button or until you unplug the machine (gure 4).

4 After the used coee grounds have cooled, carefully open the lter basket and discard
them.
5 Make sure the decanter is empty before starting to brew coee again.
6 Be sure to turn your coeemaker o when no longer using it.
Brewing coee later
1 You must rst set the current time described in
“Setting the Clock and the Delay Brew Timer”
section.
2 Prepare your coeemaker as described in “Adding
Water and Ground Coee” section.
3 To activate DELAY BREW and program your
coeemaker to brew coee at a later time, press the PROG button twice. The word
TIMER will appear in the display. (gure 5)
4 Press the TIME button to the desired time. When you are done selecting the
DELAY TIME, press PROG once or wait 10 seconds. The DELAY BREW time is now set,
but not activated.
5 To activate the DELAY BREW, press the Auto button twice. The Auto button light
will ash until the set DELAY BREW time is reached then will turn red and the
coeemaker will automatically begin brewing. At this time you can select the
strength that you desire by pressing the
STRONG BREW
button. (Blue light for
STRONG, Light O for REGULAR).
6 After brewing, the warming plate will keep your coee hot for 2 hours and then will
automatically turn o.
As a safety feature,
, just press AUTO
until it ashes to set the same time. Otherwise do Steps 2–5 to set for a dierent time.
To cancel DELAY BREW during Brew: Press the AUTO button. The DELAY BREW red
indicator light will turn o. Then you can reset to the same time tomorrow.
ClEAning And MAinTAining
CAUTION! Never immerse the coeemaker itself in water, in any other liquid or place in
the dishwasher.
Always push Auto/On/O button until appliance is OFF. Always unplug the coeemaker
and allow to cool before cleaning.
Remove the lter basket, permanent lter (not included on all models), decanter and
decanter lid and wash them in a solution of hot water and mild liquid soap.
Never use abrasive cleansers, steel wool pads or other abrasive materials. Dishwasher top
rack safe parts: glass decanter and lid, lter basket and permanent lter.

Regular Cleaning and Maintenance
Decalcifying your Oster® Coeemaker
Minerals (calcium) found in water will leave deposits in your coeemaker and will aect it.
It’s recommended that you regularly remove these deposits by using vinegar.
1 Pour 4 cups or 20 . oz. of undiluted, white household vinegar into the
water reservoir.
2 Place an empty 10–12 cup basket-style paper lter or permanent lter into
the lter basket and close reservoir lid.
3 Place the empty decanter back in the unit, centered on the warming plate.
4 Brew three cups of cleaning solution through the coeemaker.
5 Turn the coeemaker o and let stand for 30 minutes.
6 Run the remainder of the cleaning solution through the coeemaker.
7 Discard the cleaning solution and rinse the decanter thoroughly with clean water.
8 Fill the water reservoir with clean, fresh water.
9 Place the empty decanter back on the coeemaker, centered on the warming plate.
10 Remove and discard the paper lter used during the cleaning cycle. If a permanent
lter was used during cleaning, remove it and rinse it thoroughly before replacing it
in the lter basket.
11 Begin brewing and allow the full brew cycle to complete.
12 Repeat Steps 8 through 11 one more time.
Your coeemaker is now clean and ready to brew the next pot of delicious, hot coee!
Type of Water Cleaning Frequency
Soft Water Every 80 Brew Cycles
Hard Water Every 40 Brew Cycles
Cleaning the Decanter:
Hard water can leave a whitish stain on the decanter, and coee may then turn this stain
brown.
To remove decanter stains:
1 Fill the decanter with a solution of equal parts water and vinegar and let the solution
stand in the decanter for approximately 20 minutes.
2 Discard the solution, then wash and rinse the decanter.
Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners that may scratch the decanter, scratches may cause
the decanter to break.
NOTE: Do not place thermal carafe in the dishwasher.

Your Oster® Coeemaker has been carefully designed to give you many years of trouble-
free service. In the unlikely event that your new coeemaker does not operate satisfactorily,
please review the following potential problems and try the steps recommended BEFORE
you call an Authorized Oster Service Center.

that for a period of one year from the date of purchase, this product will be free from defects in material
and workmanship. JCS, at its option, will repair or replace this product or any component of the
product found to be defective during the warranty period. Replacement will be made with a new or
remanufactured product or component. If the product is no longer available, replacement may be made
with a similar product of equal or greater value. This is your exclusive warranty. Do NOT attempt to repair
or adjust any electrical or mechanical functions on this product. Doing so will void this warranty.
This warranty is valid for the original retail purchaser from the date of initial retail purchase and is not
transferable. Keep the original sales receipt. Proof of purchase is required to obtain warranty performance.
JCS dealers, service centers, or retail stores selling JCS products do not have the right to alter, modify or
any way change the terms and conditions of this warranty.
This warranty does not cover normal wear of parts or damage resulting from any of the following:

INSTRUCCIONES ESPECIAlES SOBRE El CORDEl ElÉCTRICO
1. Se provee un cordel eléctrico corto para disminuir los riesgos de que una persona o mascota se pudieran
enredar o tropezar con un cordel más largo.
2. Se puede adquirir y utilizar una extensión eléctrica si se usa con precaución.
3. Si se utiliza una extensión eléctrica, la calicación eléctrica rotulada de la extensión debe ser de al
menos 10 amperios y 120 voltios. El cordel extendido resultante debe acomodarse para que no cuelgue
del borde de un mostrador o mesa donde pueda ser tirado por niños o donde se pueda tropezar con él
accidentalmente.
4. Esta unidad cuenta con un enchufe polarizado (uno de sus contactos es más ancho que el otro). Para
disminuir el riesgo de una descarga eléctrica, este enchufe sólo podrá penetrar en un tomacorriente
polarizado. Si el enchufe no penetra completamente en el tomacorriente, inviértalo. Si aún no se puede
enchufar, comuníquese con un electricista autorizado. No modique el enchufe de manera alguna.
5. Usted puede ajustar el largo del cordel eléctrico de manera que sea de la longitud precisa que usted desee.
Para aumentar el largo del cordel eléctrico: agarre el cordel eléctrico (no el enchufe) y hálelo hacia arriba
de su hendidura con delicadeza, retirándolo de la cafetera. Para disminuir el largo del cordel eléctrico:

Modelo con jarra de vidrio
La canasta del ltro se puede sacar para limpiarla y llenarla fácil y rápidamente.
No necesita ltros de papel.
¿No puede esperar a que la cafetera termine de preparar el café?
La función “Pausa para Servir” le permite servirse una taza de café durante 30 segundos
mientras la cafetera continúa la preparación. Retire la jarra con cuidado para que la
función “Pausa para Servir” se active automáticamente, haciendo que el ujo de café se
detenga temporalmente.
Esta función mantiene su café caliente después de
su preparación. La característica antiadherente evita que la jarra se pegue a la supercie
de la placa térmica.
Le permite saber si la
cafetera está encendida. Mantiene el café caliente hasta por 2 horas y luego se apaga
automáticamente.
Ajusta el periodo de colado para
preparer un café mas cargado.
El reloj con pantalla LED sirve como un práctico reloj de cocina y le permite
congurar la función de preparación programada.
¿Le gustaría levantarse con una jarra de café recién
hecho? El temporizador le permite programar la cafetera para que prepare el café
automáticamente, hasta con 24 horas de antelación.
Esta característica de seguridad
mantiene el café caliente durante 2 horas y luego apaga automáticamente la
cafetera.
NOTA: si ha seleccionado alguna de las funciones de operación, y hay una pérdida de
corriente, la cafetera funcionará de acuerdo con la última operación seleccionada si se
restablece la electricidad en un periodo de 10 segundos.
Puede ver fácilmente la cantidad de agua en el tanque.
Antes de utilizar su cafetera Oster ®
Asegúrese que su primera taza de café sea tan buena como sea posible limpiando su
cafetera Oster ® antes del primer uso. Sólo siga estos sencillos pasos:
Lave la jarra, la tapa de la jarra, la canasta del ltro y el ltro permanente en una mezcla
de detergente suave y agua. Enjuague bien (por favor, consulte el diagrama de piezas
enumeradas más arriba).
• Vuelva a colocar todas las piezas y cierre la tapa. Luego prepare un ciclo de preparación
con agua solamente, sin el ltro y sin añadir café (ver la sección “Preparación de café”).
• Cuando termine la preparación, apague la cafetera, deseche el agua de la jarra y
enjuague la tapa de la jarra, la canasta del ltro y la jarra.
Su cafetera ya está lista. ¡Disfrútela!
COMO
CONFIGURACIÓN DEL RELOJ Y DE PREPARACIÓN PROGRAMADA
1 Conecte el cable de alimentación en un
tomacorriente estándar.
2 Presione el botón PROG y aparecerá la palabra
CLOCK (reloj). Presione y mantenga presionado el
botón TIME (tiempo) hasta llegar a la hora actual. El indicador A.M./P.M.
se iluminará a la izquierda de la pantalla.
NOTA: si se mantiene presionado el botón TIME por 3 segundos, el tiempo se acelerará. Si
se mantiene presionado durante 10 segundos, se acelerará de nuevo.
¡El reloj ya está congurado!
Después de congurar el reloj, simplemente presione el botón PROG dos veces (aparece
la palabra TIMER) (Figura 1), y congure la hora de preparación manteniendo presionado
el botón TIME. El indicador A.M./P.M. se iluminará en la pantalla del reloj.
¡La hora de preparación programada ya está congurada!
NOTA: para activar el ciclo de preparación programada, consulte la sección “Preparación
posterior de café”.
NOTA: después de 10 segundos, la hora normal del reloj aparecerá. Para vericar la hora
programada, presione el botón PROGRAM hasta que vea la palabra TIMER en la pantalla.
La pantalla mostrará la hora programada para la preparación del café.

1 Levante y abra la tapa de la canasta del ltro. Para su
comodidad, puede sacar la canasta del ltro.
2 Coloque un ltro de papel para 10-12 tazas o un ltro
permanente en la canasta del ltro. (Figura 2)
NOTA: si utiliza ltros de papel, es importante que las paredes
del ltro encajen perfectamente en la canasta del ltro. Si se
produce un hundimiento del ltro, humedezca el ltro antes de
colocarlo en la canasta y de la adición de café molido y agua.
3 Agregue la cantidad deseada de café y agite suavemente
para nivelar el café. Consulte la “Tabla de medidas
recomendadas para la preparación de café”.
4 Asegúrese que el ltro esté bien centrado y hasta el fondo de la canasta del ltro.
5 Llene la jarra con agua fría y fresca a la capacidad deseada (1 taza equivale a 5 onzas).
Para un llenado fácil y preciso, las marcas de medida en la jarra de vidrio muestran la
cantidad de agua necesaria para hacer el correspondiente número de tazas deseadas.
La cantidad de café preparado siempre será ligeramente inferior a la cantidad de agua
vertida en el tanque. Esto se debe a una absorción mínima de agua por el café molido,
así como a formación de vapor.
6 Vierta el agua en el tanque de agua. No supere la línea de medición máxima (MAX) o
el agua se rebosará por el oricio de sobrellenado en la parte posterior del tanque de
agua. Cierre la tapa y coloque la jarra vacía en el plato de calentamiento.
NOTA: asegúrese que la jarra esté puesta correctamente en la placa térmica o el agua y el café
molido se derramarán por fuera de la canasta del ltro. Un derrame puede causar lesiones
personales o daños a la propiedad.
Para reducir el riesgo de dañar la jarra y/o el riesgo de lesiones personales, no
agregue agua fría a la jarra si ésta última se encuentra caliente. Permita que la jarra se enfríe
antes de utilizarla.
PREPARACIÓN DE CAFÉ
1 Después de completar los pasos en la sección “Cómo
agregar agua y café” y con la jarra y la canasta del ltro en
su lugar.
2 Presione el botón AUTO/ON/OFF para comenzar el ciclo
de preparación. La luz roja se enciende para indicar que
la cafetera está operando. Cuando el ciclo de preparación
haya nalizado, la cafetera se cambia al modo de
calentamiento. Su cafetera conservará el café caliente
durante 2 horas, luego se apagará automáticamente.
Mientras que el café se está preparando, la función de
“Pausa para Servir” le permite servirse una taza de café.
Para apagar la cafetera, presione el botón AUTO/
ON/OFF hasta que la luz se apague.
3 Para disfrutar de un café más cargado, oprima el botón
de STRONG BREW (INTENSIDAD DEL COLADO) una sola
vez. La luz azul de STRONG BREW (INTENSIDAD CARGADA DEL COLADO) se encenderá.
La cafetera se mantendrá en la intensidad del colado que usted ha seleccionado hasta
que vuelva a cambiarla a intensidad REGULAR oprimiendo el botón de STRONG BREW
(INTENSIDAD DEL COLADO) o hasta que desenchufe la unidad. (gura 4).
Si se rebosa el contenedor de preparación o no descarga dentro de la jarra, no
abra el contenedor de preparación. Apague la cafetera, desconéctela y espere que el contenido se
enfríe antes de manipularlo.

4 Después de que el café molido se haya enfriado, abra con cuidado la canasta del
ltro y deséchelo.
5 Asegúrese que la jarra esté vacía antes de comenzar a preparar café otra vez.

a la hora de preparación programada y luego la cafetera iniciará la preparación
automáticamente. Ahora usted puede seleccionar la intensidad que desee
oprimiendo el botón de STRONG BREW. (La luz azul indica FUERTE, La luz apagada
indica REGULAR)
6 Después de la preparación, el plato de calentamiento conservará el café caliente
durante 2 horas y luego se apagará automáticamente.
Como medida de seguridad,
basta con presionar AUTO hasta que parpadee para congurar la misma hora.
De lo contrario, realice los pasos 2-5 para establecer una hora diferente.

liMpiEZA y MAnTEniMiEnTO
Nunca sumerja la cafetera en agua o ningún otro líquido o en la máquina

Siempre presione el botón Auto/On/O hasta que la unidad esté apagada. Siempre
desconecte la cafetera y deje que se enfríe antes de limpiarla.
Retire la canasta del ltro, el ltro permanente (no incluido en todos los modelos), la jarra y
la tapa de la jarra y lávelos en una solución de agua caliente y jabón líquido suave.
Nunca use limpiadores abrasivos, esponjillas de acero u otros materiales abrasivos. Lave
en la máquina lavaplatos las siguientes partes: jarra de vidrio y tapa, canasta del ltro
y el ltro permanente.

Descalcicación de su cafetera Oster®
Minerales como el calcio que se encuentran en el agua dejan depósitos en la cafetera
que pueden afectar su funcionamiento. Se recomienda eliminar periódicamente estos
depósitos utilizando vinagre.
1 Vierta 4 tazas o 20 . oz. (onza líquida) de vinagre sin diluir en el tanque de agua.
2 Coloque un ltro de papel limpio para 10-12 tazas o un ltro permanente en la
canasta del ltro y cierre la tapa del tanque.
3 Coloque la jarra vacía nuevamente en la unidad, centrada en la placa térmica.

El agua dura puede dejar manchas blancuzcas en la jarra y el café puede teñirlas de color

solución en la jarra durante aproximadamente 20 minutos.
2 Deseche la solución y luego lave y enjuague la jarra.
No use limpiadores abrasivos que puedan rayar la jarra; los rasguños pueden causar que
la jarra se rompa.
