Battery Charge– 6 –To power the handset, charge the battery.Place the handset on the base unit for about 4 hours before initial use.≥The IN USE/CHARGE indicator lights.∫RechargeRecharge the battery when:—“Recharge” is displayed,—“ ” flashes on the display, or—the handset beeps intermittently while it is in use.≥Clean the handset and base unit charge contacts with a soft, dry clothonce a month. Clean more often if the unit is subject to grease, dust orhigh humidity. Otherwise the battery may not charge properly.≥If the battery is fully charged, you do not have to place the handset on thebase unit until “Recharge” is displayed and/or “ ” flashes. This willmaximize the battery life.≥The battery cannot be overcharged.Attention:The product you have purchased is powered by a nickelcadmium battery which is recyclable.At the end of its useful life, under various state and local laws, itis illegal to dispose of this battery into your municipal wastestream. Please call 1-800-8-BATTERY for information on how torecycle this battery.
– 7 –Selecting the Dialing ModeYou can program the dialing mode by using the handset near the base unit.If you have touch tone service, set to TONE. If rotary or pulse service is used,set to PULSE. Your phone comes from the factory set to TONE.Make sure that the handset is in the stand-by mode.1Press (FUNCTION/EXIT).2Press (›) or (‹) repeatedly until the arrow points to “Program”.3Press (ENTER/CH) or FWD/EDIT (fl).4Press (›) or (‹) repeatedly until the arrow points to “Set dial mode”.5Press (ENTER/CH) or FWD/EDIT (fl).6Press (›) or (‹) to select “Pulse” or “Tone”. Press (ENTER/CH).≥A beep sounds.≥The display will return to the function list. To return to the stand-by mode,press (FUNCTION/EXIT) or wait for 60 seconds.≥You can exit the programming mode any time by pressing (FUNCTION/EXIT).

– 9 –Caller ID ServiceThis unit is compatible with a Caller ID service offered by your telephonecompany.After you subscribe to a Caller ID service, the calling party information will bedisplayed after the first ring.The unit can record information of up to 50 different callers, including the timeand date received and the number of times called, in the Caller List. The CallerList information is sorted from the most recent to the oldest call. When the 51stcall is received, the oldest call is deleted.If your unit is connected to a PBX system which does not support Caller IDservices, you cannot access those services. Please consult  your equipmentsupplier.
