For example, instead of saying “Call” and then“John Smith” and then “mobile”, the following com-pound command can be said: “Call John Smith mobile.”•For each feature explanation in this section, only thecompound command form of the voice command isgiven. You can also break the commands into parts andsay each part of the command when you are asked for it.For example, you can use the compound command formvoice command “Search for John Smith,” or you canbreak the compound command form into two voicecommands: “Search Contact” and when asked “JohnSmith.” Please remember, the Uconnect Phone worksbest when you talk in a normal conversational tone, as ifspeaking to someone sitting a few feet/meters awayfrom you.Natural SpeechYour Uconnect Phone Voice system uses a Natural Lan-guage Voice Recognition (VR) engine.5PHONE MODE 49
Natural speech allows the user to speak commands inphrases or complete sentences. The system filters outcertain non-word utterances and sounds such as “ah” and“eh.” The system handles fill-in words such as “I wouldlike to.”The system handles multiple inputs in the same phrase orsentence such as “make a phone call” and “to Kelly Smith.”For multiple inputs in the same phrase or sentence, thesystem identifies the topic or context and provides theassociated follow-up prompt such as “Who do you want tocall?” in the case where a phone call was requested but thespecific name was not recognized. The system utilizes continuous dialog; when the systemrequires more information from the user it will ask aquestion to which the user can respond without pushingthe “Voice Command”button on your steering wheel.Help CommandIf you need assistance at any prompt, or if you want toknow your options at any prompt, say “Help” followingthe beep.To activate the Uconnect Phone from idle, simply push thePhonebutton on your steering wheel and say acommand or say “help.” All Uconnect Phone sessionsbegin with a push of the Phone button on the radiocontrol head.Cancel CommandAt any prompt, after the beep, you can say “Cancel” andyou will be returned to the main menu. You can also push the Phoneor Voice Commandbutton on your steering wheel when the system islistening for a command and be returned to the main orprevious menu.Pair (Link) Uconnect Phone To A Mobile PhoneTo begin using your Uconnect Phone, you must pair yourcompatible Bluetooth enabled mobile phone.
