Main room To avoid interference, maintain the following distances between the wireless sound system and other electronic devices that use the same radio frequency (2.4 GHz band). Wireless LAN: approx. 2 m (6-1/2 ft) Wireless sound system Home theater unit Setup ENGLISH Preparation ≥ Turn off all equipment before connection and read the appropriate operating instructions. ≥Connect the AC power supply cord after all other connections are complete. Cordless phone and other electronic devices: approx. 2 m (6-1/2 ft) Other rooms Place the wireless sound system within approximately 30 m (?? ft) from the home theater unit. [Note[ ≥ Do not use the wireless sound system and digital transmitter in a metal cabinet or bookshelf. ≥ Depending on your wall thickness and material, the operating range may be reduced. The wireless sound system will automatically seek a clear channel if any of these other devices interfere with its communication. When this happens, the WIRELESS LINK indicator on the wireless sound system flashes. (“ [W2] ” flashes on the home theater unit.) There is a brief interruption in audio coming from the wireless sound system. This is the normal operation of the product working to assure the best possible performance of your home theater unit. If the interference persists, try moving the other devices to another location outside the range of the wireless sound system, or move the wireless sound system nearer to your home theater unit. Pairing is needed for using your SH-FX85 together with your existing Panasonic wireless accessories (not included) on the same home theater system. STEP 1: On the wireless sound system: 3 Press [SELECTOR] repeatedly to select “WIRELESS”. “WIRELESS” indicator lights up. 1 Reduce the volume 2 Turn the unit on. POWER to “MIN” position. WIRELESS CONTROL VOL SELECTOR Preparation ≥Use the SH-FX85T transmitter card for pairing. Unplug its SB-FX85 wireless sound system from the AC outlet. Store your SH-FX65T transmitter card in a cool dry place for later use. ≥Make sure to connect the AC power supply cords of your wireless accessories. ≥Turn on the home theater unit and reduce the volume. Turn on the wireless accessories you want to use together with SH-FX85. While pressing [5/9] on the home theater unit, press the numbered button [3] on the remote control until “P” lights in the home theater unit’s display. While “P” is displayed, press [I/D SET] on each of your wireless accessories. e.g. TUNE MIN WIRELESS LINK OPTION POWER WIRELESS OPTION MAX MUSIC PORT ENGLISH Page 5 Setup RQTX_FX85_En.fm Use a pointed object. WIRELESS LINK indicator On the home theater unit: Turn the unit on and check the wireless link indicator. e.g. Display on the home theater unit SLP STCT DDTS PL SRDE. PRG PGM RND RDS EQ W1W2 WS “ [W2] ”or an indicator should light up. ≥ If “ [W2] ”or an indicator is flashing, refer to page 11, Troubleshooting guide. ≥ The WIRELESS LINK indicator on the wireless sound system also lights up when the wireless link is active. Conserving power The wireless sound system consumes a small amount of power, even when it is in off mode (approx. 0.2 W). To save power when the unit is not to be used for a long time, unplug it from the household AC outlet. ≥If “P” goes off before you press [I/D SET] of your next wireless accessory, repeat step 2 and then continue the procedure. While pressing [5/9] on the home theater unit, press the numbered button [3] on the remote control. ≥The corresponding wireless link indicator (“ [W1] ”, “ [W2] ”, or “ [WS] ”) lights on the home theater unit. Turn off and on your wireless accessories. ≥Make sure the wireless link indicators on your wireless accessories light up. [Note[ Repeat the above steps if you should use SH-FX65T transmitter card. (The link with SH-FX85 will be disconnected.) The source on the wireless sound system will automatically be set to follow the current source selected for the main room. Start enjoying the audio source. ≥ You can control play with the WIRELESS CONTROL buttons on this unit (➜ left). (When the source follows to the main room’s, controlling of these buttons will also affect the main room’s playing source.) ∫ You can also enjoy a different audio source from the main room’s. Use the [2ND SELECT] button on the remote control of your home theater unit to select your desired source. (Aim the remote control at your home theater unit.) Refer to the operating instructions of your home theater for operation details. ≥Ensure to set the input selector of the wireless sound system to “WIRELESS” for enjoying audio from the home theater unit. [Note] ≥AC cord must be connected with the wireless sound system. ≥When the wireless sound system is in off mode, iPod charging time is fixed at 5 hours. “OPTION POWER” indicator continues to light up throughout this duration, even when your iPod is fully charged. You can turn off this indicator by removing the iPod from the dock. iPod is a trademark of Apple Computer, Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. If you are in doubt about some of the check points, or if the solutions indicated in the table do not solve the problem, refer to the “Customer Services Directory” on page 9 if you reside in the U.S.A., or refer to the “Product information” on page 3 if you reside in Canada. The wireless link indicator (e.g. “ [W2] ” or an indicator) is flashing. ≥ There is no link between the home theater unit and the wireless sound system. Check that the wireless sound system is plugged into the AC outlet and is turned on. ≥ Ensure that the selector on the wireless sound system is set to “WIRELESS”. ≥ Ensure that the wireless sound system is within 30 m (?? ft) of the home theater unit. ≥ When pairing your existing wireless accessories with SH-FX85T digital transmitter, ensure the corresponding wireless accessories are plugged into the AC outlet and are turned on. The wireless link indicator (e.g. “ [W2] ” or or an indicator) is lit, but there is no sound from the SB-FX85 wireless sound system. ≥ When playing from a 2-channel audio source (e.g. AM/FM station, music CD, etc.), turn on one of the surround sound effects of your home theater system (e.g. Surround Music) in order to utilize all audio channels. (Refer also to your home theater unit’s operating instructions.) ≥ When using the wireless sound system as a stand-alone audio amplifier, ensure to select the correct input selector on the wireless sound system. The wireless link indicator (e.g. “ [W2] ” or or an indicator) is lit, but there is no sound from the wireless accessory after pairing. ≥ When playing from a 2-channel audio source (e.g. AM/FM station, music CD, etc.), turn on one of the surround sound effects of your home theater system (e.g. Surround Muisc) in order to utilize all audio channels. Turn on your home theater system, and then follow the pairing procedure on page 5. 3. Adjust the volume of your home theater unit. After pairing the SB-FX85 wireless sound system with the wireless accessory, audio output is erratic. ≥ Ensure to unplug the SB-FX85 wireless sound system belonging to the SH-FX85T digital transmitter card in use, and then repeat the pairing procedure on page 5.
