After switching on your phone, do not place it close to other electronic goods.About the battery usageYour phone is powered by a Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) battery. In other words, unlike other forms of batteries, you can recharge your battery while some charge remains without reducing your phone’s autonomy due to the “battery memory effect” inherent in those technologies. xDo not use a damaged battery or a charger. xDo not disassemble or open crush, bend or deform, puncture or shred it. xDo not modify or remanufacture, insert foreign objects into the battery, immerse or expose to water or other liquids, expose to fire, explosion or other hazard. xDo not put your battery into contact with conductive objects. xDispose of and recycle used batteries in accordance with local regulations. Do not dispose of batteries by burning; they may explode. xDo not use an unauthorized charger. xOnly use the battery for the device for which it is specified. xOnly use the battery with a charging device that has been qualified with the device per this standard. Use of an unqualified battery or a charger may present a risk of fire, explosion, leakage, or other hazard. xDo not short circuit a battery or allow metallic conductive objects to contact battery terminals. xReplace the battery only with another battery that has been qualified with the device per this standard, IEEE-Std-1725-2006. If the phone or the battery is dropped, especially on a hard surface, and the user suspects damage, take it to a service center for inspection. xUse your battery for the specified purpose only. xThe closer you move to your network’s base station, the longer you can use your phone because battery power is less consumed for connection. xThe battery recharging time varies depending on the remaining battery capacity and the battery and charger type. xBattery life inevitably shortens over time. xUse an authorized battery and a charger only. xSince overcharging may shorten battery life, remove the phone from its charger once it is fully charged. Unplug the charger once charging is complete. Leaving the battery in hot or cold places, especially inside a car in summer or winter, may reduce its capacity and life. Always keep the battery within normal operating temperatures.
4Important Safety Information xTo prevent injury or burns, ensure that no metal objects come into contact with the + and – terminals of the battery. FCC Hearing-Aid Compatibility Regulations for Wireless DevicesOn July 10, 2003, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Report and Order in WT Docket 01-309 modified the exception of wireless phones under the Hearing Aid Compatibility Act of 1988 (HAC Act) to require digital wireless phones be compatible with hearing-aids. The intent of the HAC Act is to ensure reasonable access to telecommunications services for persons with hearing disabilities.While some wireless phones are used near some hearing devices (hearing aids and cochlear implants), users may detect a buzzing, humming, or whining noise. Some hearing devices are more immune than others to this interference noise, and phones also vary in the amount of interference they generate.The wireless telephone industry has developed a rating system for wireless phones, to assist hearing device users find phones that may be compatible with their hearing devices. Not all phones have been rated. Phones that are rated have the rating on their boxes or a label located on the boxes.The ratings are not guarantees. Results will vary depending on the user’s hearing device and hearing loss. If your hearing device happens to be vulnerable to interference, you may not be able to use a rated phone successfully. Trying out the phone with your hearing device is the best way to evaluate it for your personal needs. xM-Ratings: Phones rated M3 or M4 meet FCC requirements and are likely to generate less interference to hearing devices than phones that are not labeled. M4 is the better/higher of the two ratings. xT-Ratings: Phones rated T3 or T4 meet FCC requirements and are likely to generate less interference to hearing devices than phones that are not labeled. T4 is the better/higher of the two ratings.Hearing devices may also be rated. Your hearing device manufacturer or hearing health professional may help you find this rating. Higher ratings mean that the hearing device is relatively immune to interference noise. The hearing aid and wireless phone rating values are then added together. A sum of 5 is considered acceptable for normal use. A sum of 6 is considered for best use.In the above example, if a hearing aid meets the M2 level rating and the wireless phone meets the M3 level rating, the sum of the two values equals M5. This is synonymous for T ratings. This should provide the hearing aid user with “normal usage” while using their hearing aid with the particular wireless phone. “Normal usage” in this context is defined as a signal quality that is acceptable for normal operation.The M mark is intended to be synonymous with the U mark. The T mark is intended to be synonymous with the UT mark. The M and T marks are recommended by the Alliance for Telecommunications Industries Solutions (ATIS). The U and UT marks are referenced in Section 20.19 of the FCC Rules. The HAC rating and measurement procedure are described in the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) C63.19 standard.To ensure that the Hearing Aid Compatibility rating for your phone is maintained, secondary transmitters such as Bluetooth and WLAN components must be disabled during a call. See page 79 for instructions to disable these components.

12Getting StartedThis chapter introduces steps that should be taken first before using this mobile device for a variety of purposes.Inside the packageCheck if the package contains the following items: xHandset xBattery xSD card xSIM card xAdapter xUser Guide xUSB cableYou should purchase following items for the mobile device: xA. xB. xC.Note Items included in the box may differ depending on software or accessories available or provided by the service provider in your country.Installing the SIM/USIM card1. Press and hold the latch and slide it to remove the battery cover from the device.2. Insert the SIM/USIM card into the slot. The gold contacts of the card should go against the metal contacts of the phone.About the SIM/USIM cardWhen you subscribe to your network operator, you receive a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card or Universal Subscriber Identity Module (USIM) card containing your registration information, PIN code, etc. Like a credit card, it should be kept secure and handled carefully. Do not bend, scratch or expose it to moisture. Avoid static electricity.Inserting the battery1. Put the connector of the battery into the hole located at the top of the unit and then insert and press the lower side of the battery.2. Put the cover back to the handset.

Open the protective cover on the right side and connect the charger adapter.Note Make sure to align the connector as indicated in the image. Otherwise, the charging connector will be damaged and the battery won’t be charged.2. Disconnect the charger from the device when the battery is fully charged.Turning the phone on/offTo turn on,Press and hold Lock/PWR.To turn off,Press and hold Lock/PWR and tap Power off.Gripping the phoneIn order to make calls with no problems, hold the device in the right position as indicated below:Note Using metal accessories (stickers) on the phone, or holding the device by the internal antenna area while changing data and talking on the phone might affect the quality of all calls.Unlocking the screenWhen you turn on the mobile device, the screen is locked by default. To unlock the screen:1. Press LOCK/PWR.2. Drag the arrow symbol diagonally.

The following finger actions help you easily understand how to use the touch screen.Tap: Tap once to select or access a menu or an option.Long tap: Tap an item and hold it for more than 2 seconds to view detailed information.Double tap: Tap the same item twice.Drag: Tap and hold your finger on an item and move it without losing contact with the screen.Flick: Tap and drag your finger on an item to select and move it, then lift your finger to drop the item into place.CAUTION xDo not use sharp tools that can scratch the touch screen. xDo not allow the touch screen to come in contact with water or chemicals. The touch screen may malfunction in humid conditions or in chemicals. xDo not sit on your phone.
