Three plaster frame clips for use in
new construction frame in furnished
ceilings.

The ICBOX is designed to be used as a barrier to prevent
insulation from making contact with non-IC rated recessed
housings. It is a low-cost, labor-saving alternative to
constructing insulation barriers in the field to meet such
requirements. It is designed to work with 8" or 10" wood joist
ceilings at 16" or 24" centers between floors.

™

Competitive housings allow excessive air flow from the plenum through
the housing, wasting energy. Prescolite’s LiteBox® family offers downlight
solutions that are AirShield™ rated to comply with strict WSEC and ASTM
E283 air-tight requirements. This feature can save approximately $5 per year
per housing in energy costs.

Air flow through openings in a light fixture
negatively impacts the efficiency of the
building HVAC system and transfers moisture
into the plenum. This moisture can lead to
condensation and damage in the ceiling
structure and a reduction in insulation
efficiency. To help prevent the possibility of
moisture damage, as well as to conserve
energy and ultimately save money, many states
have enacted codes requiring the use of “airtight” recessed downlights.
The most notable air-tight legislation is the
Washington State Energy Code, or WSEC. The
WSEC provides minimum standards for new or
altered buildings and structures by regulating
their exterior envelopes, HVAC service, water
heating systems, and other equipment and
systems to realize more efficient use and
conservation of energy. With regard to recessed
lighting fixtures, the WSEC states that type ICrated fixtures, certified under ASTM E283, shall
admit no more than 2.0 cubic feet per minute
of air movement from the conditioned space
to the ceiling cavity. Additional codes including
the International Energy Conservation Code
(IECC) have air-tight requirements adapted
from WSEC.

why dBx?
The DBX downlight is AirShield™ rated when used with any compatible trim and
is dual rated for IC and Non-IC applications. It can be used in spaces with or
without insulation. Refer to trims for lamp and wattage guidelines. The DBX will
accommodate a wide variety of trims such as open, shower, baffle, and wall wash.
The DBXMRI1 is a non-ferrous housing for use in rooms containing magnetic
resonance imaging equipment.

The IBXICAT housings are Energy Star approved, AirShield rated downlights
for use with 13W, 18W, 26W quad or triple tube compact fluorescent lamps.
The IBX26ICATDM is dimmable to 15% of lamp output and uses standard 2-wire
controls. All versions come with Pro-Nail™ bar hangers. Because CFL lamps are
compact in size and deliver good lumen output, they are ideal for downlighting
applications that require energy efficiency and low maintenance such as
