Welcome Kankakee Community
College student athletes, parents, and
Cavalier fans!
On behalf of the KCC Board of Trust-
ees, faculty, staff and Cavalier Nation,
I’d like to welcome you to another ex-
citing and rewarding year at KCC. Last
year, KCC continued its winning ways
by sending three teams to represent the
outstanding values the college at NJ-
CAA National Tournaments. Women’s
basketball nished fourth in the nation,
and softball nished in seventh place.
The baseball squad earned a record
number of wins and brought home the
Division II National Championship! What a great year for our
Cavaliers!
We are also very proud that 15 KCC student-athletes
were named to NJCAA All-Academic teams for the 2016-17
year. It is a particular point of honor for me to share the role
KCC plays in the overall growth of our student athletes and
how our teams represent our outstanding institution during
and after competing. Our coaches stress—and our athletes
understand—the importance of education and character
development. That’s why KCC produces graduates and
All-Americans along with our nationally
competitive teams.
It is my rm belief that education is the
key to all of life’s successes, and we all
remain committed to our mission to develop
leaders. Once the cheers and accolades
have subsided, what remains for our ath-
letes is the understanding of commitment,
goal setting, teamwork and determination.
When thy channel these characteristics
into their educations, careers and personal
goals, the results from these athletes will
amaze us all.
Knowing they lay the foundation for these
triumphs, I would like to specically thank
the parents of our athletes, their coaches and Cavalier Club
members for supporting our athletic teams.
Please join me, the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff and all
Cavaliers’ fans in wishing our teams and coaches success
this year. I invite everyone to come out and watch our teams
compete. Go Cavs!

Starting her rst year coaching
college level volleyball, Assistant
Coach Alexia Campbell comes to
the Cavaliers with a passion to lead
and apply her prior playing experi-
ence.
Campbell is a three-year var-
sity veteran from Kankakee High
School where she continues to hold
multiple records. While on the Kays,
Campbell also was a two-time MVP
and team leader, serving as captain
for two seasons.
Campbell chose to be a coach because of her passion for vol-
leyball. She is able to foster the growth of her players through the
numerous opportunities she is fortunate to provide. Her goal is to
help lead the Cavaliers to many wins and build a strong founda-
tion of young women.
“I will mold a group of individuals to communicate, to be re-
sponsible, and to hold themselves accountable,” Coach Camp-
bell said. “I developed my coaching philosophy based on what is
important to me and what I have learned about myself.”
Campbell is currently studying medical sonography and work-
ing as a nursing assistant. She is the mother of two children.
Stephenee Yancy is in her rst
season as head coach of the
Cavaliers
.
A four-year letter winner at
Kankakee
High School, Yancy
still holds school records for kills,
blocks, and points. She was a two-
time All-Conference honoree, two-
time All-Area selection and selected
as an AAU (Amateur Athletic Union)
All-American at the 18 Club level,
where she played for Ultimate VBC.
Coach Yancy started in college at Western Michigan University,
where she was Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year
and on the MAC All-Freshman Team. During that time, Yancy
also was named to the 2013 USA Volleyball Junior National A1
Team. Her junior and senior seasons, Yancy played for University
of Illinois at Chicago. As a junior, she was an American Volley-
ball Coaches Association All-Region Honorable Mention. Yancy
nished the year with national rankings for kills (24th, with 512),
kills per set (20th, with 4.38) and attack percentage (56th, with
.358). The same season, Yancy put down double-digit kills in all
31 matches. Her senior season, Yancy was a team captain and
led UIC and the Horizon League in kills per set (4.37). She ranked
second in the conference in hitting percentage (.366) and ninth in
blocks per set (0.89).
For both of her seasons at UIC, the Horizon League named
Yancy Player of the Year or Co-Player of the year in addition
to placement on the All-Conference rst team. The UIC record
books list Yancy’s accomplishments 16 times, including single
season records in kills (no. 3 & 6, with 544 and 512), hitting per-
centage (no. 1 & 2 with .371 and .358), solo blocks (no. 10 with
27); a career record in hitting percentage (no. 1 with .365), and
a single match record in kills (33). She has the 13th most kills in
Flames history (1,056), and led the team in kills and blocks each
season.
Yancy nished her college career in 2015. She was selected
by her peers as UIC Female Athlete of the Year and was one of
only 36 players in the nation picked by USA Volleyball to partici-
pate in the U.S. Collegiate National Team program. Yancy holds
a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from UIC. She also played
professionally in the Prerov Czech Republic for one season.

The 2017 Lady Cavaliers volleyball players will kick off the sea-
son by facing some rivalry teams which include South Suburban,
Prairie State and Oakton Community College.
The Lady Cavs travel to Springeld during Labor Day week-
end to play in the two-day tournament hosted by Lincoln Land
Community College. The Cavaliers will host two tournaments this
season—the KCC Invitational and the Cavalier Classic. They also
will compete in the “Waubonsee Challenge” and the “Showdown
on the Wabash.”
In the middle of the season, KCC will play in six Tri-Matches
and have games facing colleges such as Olivet Nazarene Uni-
versity, College of DuPage, Milliken University, Parkland College,
Morton College and Joliet Junior College.
With a brand new head coach and assistant for 2017, the Lady
Cavaliers are returning ve players and welcoming six freshmen.
The general task for each and every player includes adjusting
quickly to any situation on the court, showing good sportsman-
