Quick Start Guide
We know you’re excited about owning an ASKO dishwasher and you’re anxious to get started, so here’s a brief summary of the operation
procedures. The page references in this guide refer to the Use and Care Guide. To get the most out of the features of your new
dishwasher, we recommend that you read the Use and Care Guide.

UNDERSTANDING THE INDICATOR LIGHTSUNDERSTANDING THE INDICATOR LIGHTS
When the dishwasher has finished, all of the indicator lights will come on. The lights will remain on until you open the door.
If the lights flash in an alternating pattern after you have started a program, this usually means the dishwasher door is not closed
securely. Push the door closed until you hear it click shut.
If all of the lights on the control panel flash in sequence, this means the machine has detected an overfill. (See page 7.) Should this
happen, call the ASKO Advisory Center.
This touchpad activates the heating element during the drying cycle to speed up the drying process.
Heat dryHeat dry
PROGRAMSPROGRAMS
Your ASKO dishwasher has three wash programs, a rinse and hold option and a heat fan dry option. Press the touchpad to select the
desired program and option.
Pots and pans
For the heaviest soiled loads, such as pots, pans,
casseroles, etc.
Normal
For normal wash loads. Rinse and hold
To rinse dishes that you plan to wash later that day.
Quick
For lightly soiled loads. Items such as fine china
and crystal can be washed in this program, but you
should turn the Heat dry off.
THE CONTROL PANELTHE CONTROL PANEL
Model D1776 has a touchpad control panel, as illustrated below. To select a wash program or the heat dry option, simply press the
appropriate touchpad. When you press a touchpad, a red indicator light at the upper left of the touchpad glows to show that you selected
that program.
CHANGING A PROGRAMCHANGING A PROGRAM
If you’ve started the dishwasher then decide to change the program or turn off the Heat dry option, simply press the original program
touchpad for three to five seconds to stop the dishwasher. You can then press the touchpad for the desired program.
1. Load the dishwasher. (There’s no need to pre-rinse. Simply scrape off large food particles before
you load the dishware.)
2. After you’ve pushed the baskets back inside the unit, manually rotate the upper and lower spray
arms to be sure they turn freely. Rearrange any item that blocks the wash arms.
3. Make sure there is rinse aid in the dispenser. Add rinse aid, if needed.
4. Add automatic dishwashing detergent and close the dispenser cover. (See “Amount of Dishwashing
Detergent to Use” below.)
5. Close the door securely. (You should hear it click shut.)
6. Press the touchpad for the desired program and, if desired, the Heat dry option. The red indicator
light for the program you select will come on and the dishwasher will start.

1) It goes into the compartment between the main detergent
compartment and the rinse aid dispenser. (See page 4.)
2) The rinse aid goes into the rinse aid dispenser. (See page 5.)
3) If the temperature of the water entering your dishwasher is below
120°, the dishwasher runs longer because it heats the water to
the proper temperature for the program selected. Raising your
water heater setting may help shorten the cycle times. If this
doesn’t resolve the problem, call the ASKO Advisory Center.

7) You may be using too much detergent or washing your dishes in
water that is too hot. Try using less detergent and use the Normal
or Quick wash programs.
8) It’s normal to have some water left in the sump area near the
drain. If the water fills more than the drain area, see page 9 for
possible solutions.
AMOUNT OF DISHWASHING DETERGENT TO USEAMOUNT OF DISHWASHING DETERGENT TO USE
We recommend that you use only unscented, granular automatic dishwashing detergent. Generally, one tablespoon of detergent is
needed for a normal wash load. More heavily soiled items, however, may need more detergent. Also, the amount of detergent needed
can vary due to differences in water hardness. The harder the water, the more detergent you may need. (See page 5.) In any case, you
should never use more than three tablespoons of detergent.
Program TimeProgram Time
When a program starts, the LED displays the time it took that program to run last time. As the program runs, the LED displays the remaining
time. If the time exceeds an hour, the display alternates between the hour and minutes remaining. The hour is designated by an h (e.g., 1h).
The program times may not always be the same because of variations in the household hot water temperature. The dishwasher heats
the water to the proper temperature for the program selected, so if the temperature of the water entering your dishwasher is too low, the
dishwasher will run longer because it takes longer to heat the water. Raising your water heater setting could help to shorten the cycle
times. If this doesn’t help, call the ASKO Advisory Center.
Fault CodesFault Codes
The LED window displays three fault codes, as illustrated below.

Indicates a fault in the heater. Call your local service
technician.
Indicates high water level in the machine. Call the ASKO
Advisory Center.
