and be sure to comply.
WARNING
The Pearl Phone Mount requires
a metal Phone Plate for magnetic
mounting. If you charge your
phone wirelessly (such as Qi
charging, etc.) with the Plate
attached, it can cause extreme
overheating that can burn or
damage persons and property.
Do not charge your phone
wirelessly with the metal Phone
Plate installed. See pearlauto.com/
support for instructions on how to
remove the Phone Plate.
Driver Responsibility
RearVision is designed to increase
your awareness and visibility of
what’s behind your car, but it can’t
show or tell you everything.
DO:
• Look behind you and backup
carefully.
DON’T:
• Rely solely on Pearl RearVision.
B. RearVision Performance
WARNING
The Camera Frame connects
wirelessly to the Car Adapter and
your phone. Video performance
may be affected by your car’s
design and length, materials, and
other factors, including outside
elements that may cause interference with the radio transmitters
and receivers in your Camera
Frame and phone.
Video performance may be degraded or unavailable:
• In environments where the
wireless signal is degraded due
to interference.
• In low or harsh lighting conditions, such as extremely bright
sunlight or light beams that are
directed or reflected onto
a camera lens.
• When the Camera Frame is
obstructed, soiled or damaged.
• In extreme weather.
Look behind you before proceeding.
Note to iPhone® Users:
• When your iPhone’s wireless
connection is not available
(for example, when you are
still connected to your home
wireless network or when
you have wireless turned off),
RearVision will try to send
video over Bluetooth®. In this
configuration, other connected
Bluetooth devices can block or
degrade video performance.
• To improve reliability, turn
your phone Wi-Fi off or select
Pearl Wi-Fi from your iPhone’s
Settings.
C. Software and Hardware
WARNING
Do not modify or tamper with
the device’s hardware or software.
Warnings
and Safety Info
We care about your well-being.
Failure to follow these safety and
care instructions may result in
personal injury or damage to you,
bystanders, RearVision or other
property.
WARNING
A. Undetected Obstacles
Objects in your path will not be
seen or detected by your
RearVision system if they are
above, below or outside of the
cameras’ range of sight or alert
zone. For example:
• Low-lying objects or objects
suspended high off the ground.
• Objects that are very near to the
rear of your vehicle and at acute
angles to the Camera Frame,
such as objects that are:
º Below or near to the rear
bumper of the vehicle;
º Near the rear left or right
corners of the vehicle.
• Quickly moving objects.
• If your Camera Frame is not
centered on the back of your car:
The field of view and alerts will
not be centered to your vehicle,
and you should adjust your
driving accordingly and
º The alert system may fail to
alert you to some obstacles
that are in your path, and notify
you of other objects that are
not in your path. Look behind
you before proceeding.
Other conditions that may cause
objects to go undetected are:
• Low or harsh lighting (such as
flare from license plate lights
or other cars’ headlights) or
extreme weather conditions
(for example heavy snow, hail,
rain or thick fog) that limit the
cameras’ abilities to differentiate
between light and dark areas
(also known as visual texture).
• When the cameras are
obstructed, soiled or damaged.
• Obstacles that lack visual
texture or have very narrow or
uniform surfaces.
Be sure to look behind you and
back up cautiously.
B. Time Delay
As with any wireless video transmission, the video you see and
the alerts you receive are timedelayed. Remain alert, especially if
there are quickly moving objects.
C. Handling and
Operating Conditions
Pearl RearVision (including
Camera Frame, Car Adapter and
Phone Mount) can be damaged
or become inoperable if your car
is in a collision or if it is dropped,
hit, bent or crushed, exposed
to extreme heat or cold, or
submerged in water. In these
scenarios you should remove
RearVision from your vehicle. It
may also cause personal injury if
you handle or touch the product
under extreme temperatures.
• Recommended ambient
operating temperature range:
-4°F (-20°C) to 113°F (45°C).
• Recommended non-operating
(e.g. storage), ambient temperature range: -22°F (-30°C) to
122°F (50°C). If outdoor
temperatures are expected to
exceed 122°F (50°C), you should
remove your Car Adapter and
the Camera Frame and place
them in a location where it can
be stored within the nonoperating temperature range.
D. Power, Battery Safety and
Charging
• The Car Adapter is powered
through your car’s OBD
(On-Board Diagnostics) port.
The Camera Frame is powered
by a non-user replaceable
battery embedded in the
Camera Frame.
WARNING
If you are intending to store your
vehicle for an extended period
of time, you should remove the
Car Adapter to avoid draining
your car’s battery. Note that there
are multiple variables that impact
battery performance and not all
battery drainage issues will be
caused exclusively by the
installation and use of RearVision.
• Battery life and charge cycles of
your Camera Frame will vary with
use, environment, and temperature. It may take longer to charge
and battery life will temporarily
be shortened when using your
Camera Frame at temperatures in
the lower end of the recommended operating range.
• Operating or storing your Camera
Frame at the higher end of the
relevant recommended temperature range can permanently
reduce the number of times your
battery can be charged before it
needs to be replaced.
• You may need to charge your
Camera Frame using the attached
USB cable if your battery is low
(as indicated by the Pearl App.)
• Charging will not occur:
º For solar, below 14°F (-10°C)
or above 122°F (50°C).
Warnings
and Safety Info
(continued)
º For USB, below 32°F (0°C)
or above 113°F (45°C). USB
charging is also disabled
during video streaming.
Note: A USB charger is not
included. Refer to the
Installation & Tips Guide for
instructions. Be sure to use a
USB compliant charger. (Pearl
is not responsible for performance of or damage caused
by third-party power adapters.)
WARNING
If the Camera Frame or the
lithium ion battery in the Camera
Frame is damaged or if you
attempt to replace the battery
yourself, it may overheat and
cause injury. Be sure to recycle
or dispose of it according to the
waste disposal and recycling
requirements applicable to you.
For more information about
battery service and recycling,
see pearlauto.com/support.
E. Medical Devices
The Phone Mount contains
magnets that may interfere with
pacemakers, defibrillators or other
medical devices.
• Maintain a safe distance from
your Mount.
• Consult your physician and
medical device manufacturer
for information about safe use
of your medical device.
• Stop using the Pearl Phone
Mount if you suspect it is interfering with your medical device.
F. Magnet
Your Phone Mount contains a
magnet used to hold your phone
in place. Be careful not to place
devices containing magnetic
media such as products containing
hard disk drives or credit cards
near your Phone Mount or data
may be lost or destroyed. In some
cases, near field communication
(NFC), compass or navigation
functions may be temporarily
impaired while your phone is on
the Mount.
