CARE FOR THE UNIT AND TROUBLESHOOTING
The Wireless 2 is an electronic unit and should be treated with care when handling. Philips
Accessories and Computer Peripherals North America recommends that you do not disconnect or
connect the Wireless 2 to your PS2 game console when the system is switched on. We also
recommend that you do not store the unit in direct sunlight or at extreme temperatures, or spill
any liquids on the unit. Finally, do not open the case of the Wireless 2. Maintenance and
servicing should be done by Philips Accessories only.
If you are experiencing difficulties with your Wireless 2 , please check the following:
Game Pad Related
Not Working: Make sure the Wireless 2 receiver is plugged firmly into your PS2 game console.
Try turning off the console and removing and reinstalling the receiver. Turn Wireless 2 game pad
off then on again.
Not Performing Functions Properly: Turn the power off on the game console, disconnect
and reconnect Wireless 2 receiver. Make sure mode is selected.
DVD Playback Related
Doesn’t work:
1) There is an obstacle between the controller and the receiver dongle or IR port
2) Operation distance is to far
3) Make sure 3 AA batteries were installed
My system turns on but there is nothing on the TV:
1) Verify AV cable is connected from the console to the TV and securely in place in both connections
My Wireless 2 Controller does not respond while in the system menu:
1) Verify which PS2 you own by looking at the back of the console. You will note a model number near
the Sony name. Only the SCH50001 and 70012 operates without the receiver dongle. If your console
is another series you must use the supplied receiver dongle.
2) Make sure batteries are fresh and installed correctly
3) If your system uses the receiver dongle turn the power off on the PS2 console. Unplug the reciever
dongle and and reconnect it after a few seconds. Turn the power back on again on the PS2.
My PS2 Console does not respond without the receiver:
1) Only the SCH50001 70012 series PS2 will operate without the receiver dongle
2) Check the batteries are good and inserted properly
My system has poor picture quality and I have a 50001 or 70012 series PS2:
When you play a DVD, picture quality seems reduced, or the picture quality may not be displayed

The progressive scan option is set to ON when using a TV that does not support progressive scan, or

Remote control, or the stand by /reset button on the PS2 front, and hold down the START button of
the analog control pad inserted into controller port 1 until the DVD picture is displayed. When DVD
playback begins, “Progressive” will be set to “Off” and the picture will be displayed
Many video games images appear different when using progressive scan. If this occurs set
“Progressive” to Off.
