Installing Batteries
The remote control requires two
AA size (1.5V) Alkaline batteries to
work.
Tips: replace the batteries every nine
months for optimum performance.
1. On the back of the remote control, press the battery cover tab
forward, lift and remove the battery cover.
2. Insert two (2) AA-size batteries,
matching the + and – symbols
with the battery pictures.

and test the remote control by
pressing the AT&T key. The AT&T
key should light up to indicate
that batteries are inserted properly.
4. Re-pairing to TX Transmitter unit

Controlling Other
Devices
In order to control other devices with
your U-Verse TV Remote Control, you
need to tell the remote control what
types of devices you have. Section 1
guides you through the steps needed to do this. When you complete
Section 1, the volume and channels
will always work on the U-verse TV
Receiver no matter what mode you
are in. If you want to change this or
allow the POWER key to affect multiple devices then you can also follow
the steps in Section 2. If you’d like
to reset any of the settings then you
can go to Sections 3 and 4.
1. Programming the
remote to control other
devices
To use the U-verse TV remote control for your other devices, you will
need to program one or more of the
TV, DVD or AUX buttons at the top of
the remote control. There are two
ways to do this. If your device is listed in the Manufacture Code List at
the end of this Manual, you can use
section A. If your device is not listed,
you will need to use section B.
Note:
The AUX button may be programmed

– If it does not turn off, repeat
steps 2 through 6 trying each
code for your brand until you
find the correct code
8. Repeat steps 1 through 7 to program another device.
Note: If you are interrupted while you
are programming, the remote control may time-out before you complete the code set-up and you will
need to start over. This is indicated
by a red flash of the mode keys.
Now that your devices are programmed, you can press the appropriate mode key on the remote control to work with the selected device.
To use the remote control for your
U-verse TV Receiver again, press the
AT&T mode key.
Combination Devices Note: If you
have an integrated or combination
unit, such as a TV/DVD unit, each
component of the unit needs to be
programmed separately. In the Manufacture Code List for these devices
there will be codes for all components of the combination unit. They
can be distinguished as follows:
- TV codes start with a “1”
- DVD codes start with a “2”
- AUX codes start with a “3”
For some combination devices, the
original remote control may be required to switch between the components.
B. Using the Automatic
Search
You can search the remote control
memory for your 4 digit manufacture
device code. You will need to use

– If you are interrupted while you
are programming, the remote control may time-out before you complete the code set-up and you will
need to start over. This is indicated
by a red flash of the mode keys.
2. Setting up your
Volume, Channel and
Power Options
The default for your power, volume and channel controls send the
codes to the U-verse TV receiver no
matter what mode you are in. Thus,
in DVD mode, the volume still controls the U-verse TV receiver, etc. If
you would like to change this, follow
these instructions:
A. Volume Control Set-Up
Options
The volume commands are always
sent to the U-verse TV receiver until the TV mode key is programmed.
Then the volume commands are
sent to the TV from all mode keys.
If you’d like the volume commands
to still be sent to just one device,
but that it be a different device (for
example a home theater setup) then
follow the instructions in Section I.
If you’d like the volume commands
sent to different devices depending
on which mode you are in then go
to Section II.
– The selected mode key will
flash three times indicating successful assignment and return to
normal operations
The volume commands will now go
to the selected device no matter
what mode you are in.
II. Volume Control Depends on
Device Selected
The volume setting can also be reconfigured to independently control
the volume associated with each device. (e.g. In AUX mode the receiver
controls the audio; In TV mode the
TV controls the audio)
1. Press and hold the AT&T key on
the remote control
2. While holding the AT&T mode
key, press the OK key
3. Release both the AT&T key and

indicating correct entry
5. Press the ENTER key
– The AT&T key will flash three
times indicating successful assignment and returns to normal
operations
B. Channel Selection Set-Up
Option
By default the remote control will
always send channel commands to
the U-verse TV receiver no matter
what mode you are in. This will prevent accidental TV channel changes
while in TV, DVD or AUX modes.
There are two ways you can change
this: I) Have channel commands always go to a single device other
than the U-verse TV receiver; II) Have
channel commands go to different
devices when in different modes
(e.g., When in TV mode the channel commands go to the TV, when in
DVD mode the channel commands
go to the DVD player, etc.). See the
appropriate section for each.
I. Channel Always Controls the
Same Device
1. Press and hold the AT&T key on
the remote control
2. While holding the AT&T mode key,
press the OK key
3. Release both the AT&T key and
the OK key
– All the mode keys will flash
twice indicating programming
mode
If you press any key other than the
mode keys or ENTER, the AT&T key
will give a long red flash and the
remote control will return to normal
operation. Should the remote control time-out before you complete
the procedure you will need to start
over.

Options
By default, the POWER key only
powers on or places your U-verse TV
receiver in stand-by mode. Once you
have programmed the TV mode key,
the TV and U-verse TV receiver will
both be powered on/off simultaneously. You also have the option to
turn on/off TV, DVD and AUX mode
devices individually by pressing the
applicable mode key then the POWER key.

normal operations
5. Press the mode key that you
wish the channel commands to
always go to

mode keys and ENTER, the AT&T key
will give a long red flash and the remote control will return to normal
operation. Should the remote control time-out before you complete
the procedure you will need to start
over.
– The selected mode key will
flash three times indicating success and return to normal operations.
The channel commands will now
go to the selected device no matter
what mode you are in.
If the devices that you have programmed to turn ON/OFF at the
same time get out of sync so that
some turn ON and others turn OFF,
you will need to manually turn OFF
the out of sync devices and then
press the POWER key to turn them
4. Enter 966 by pressing the number
keys on the remote control
– The AT&T key will flash twice
indicating correct entry
all back ON. It is important to point
the remote directly toward the devices for this to work properly.
To change the number of devices
controlled by the POWER key, you
must start at Step 1 and continue
until all desired devices have been
programmed.
3. Changing and
Removing Codes
To deactivate a mode key, follow
these steps:
2. Without releasing the chosen
mode key, press and hold the OK
key simultaneously

B. Reassigning Your Mode
Keys To Another Device
The TV, DVD and AUX keys are already
set up to control specific devices:
TV key: TV & HDTV
DVD key: DVD
AUX key: VCR, Home Theater
In A Box (HTIB), Receivers and
Amplifiers
You may change these mode keys
to operate another type of device.
To do this, you must copy an existing
mode key to the one you would like
to change. For example, you have
two DVD players and you’d like to
use the AUX key for one of them. You
would begin by programming one of
the DVD players into the DVD mode
key and then copy that to the AUX
mode key. Then you reprogram the
original DVD mode key to the other
DVD player. Before beginning these
steps, program the device you’d like
to copy by following the steps in
Section 1. Then use the steps below
to copy the codes.
1. Press and hold the AT&T key on
the remote control
2. Without releasing the AT&T key,
press and hold the OK key simultaneously
3. Release both the AT&T key and
the OK key
– All the mode keys will flash
twice indicating programming
mode

flash three times indicating successful reassignment and return
to normal operations
Once you copy the mode key, you
will have both keys with the same
program code. Now reprogram the
original mode key with a new code
for a second device.
Note:
If any other key is pressed except
the mode keys the AT&T key will give
