system,whencoupledwithaT-PODorT-BOX,willrivalthe
performanceofmanyhigh-coststand-alonesonarsystems.
Sonartechnologyisbasedonsoundwaveswhicharetransmittedinto
thewater.Thesystemusessonartolocateanddefinestructure,
bottomcontourandcomposition,aswellasdepthdirectlybelowthe
transducer.
Wheninthewater,thetransducer(T-PODorT-BOX)sendsasound
wavesignaldownwardanddeterminesdistancebymeasuringthe

enterthispasswordtoaccessthesignal.Tap"Join"toconnect.
6. PressyouriPhone'shomebutton,thenlocatedandtapthe
SonarPhoneicontostarttheapp.

usernameandpassword.Notethatifyouchangethedefault,you

securitycodetheprimaryoperatorofthesystem.Askthemforthe
Securitycodesotheycansharetheirsignalwithyou.Ifyouare
usingthesystembyyourselfthe WPA security code from the
factory is 12345678.
4. DONOTleavetheWiFisettingsscreenuntilyouseeyouare
connectedtotheWiFichannelyouhaveselected.

thisdistance.
TheowneroftheT-PODorT-BOXiscalledtheMaster.Onlythe
MastercancontroltheT-PODorT-BOX.TheletterMwillappearon

FriendswhoconnectandshareyourSonarPhonesignalarecalled
slaves.TheycanusetheSonarPhoneindependently,buthavesome

WhennotintheMenumode,usethelargeLeftandRightarrowson
thetouchpadtoeasilycontrolthegain.IfSonarPhonecannotfind
thedepthorthereturnsignalseemsweakonthedisplay,increasethe
gainleveluntilthereadingisstrong.
Usually,againlevelbetween30%and60%willsuffice,butincreasing
thegainmayberequiredfordeeperwatersorverysoftbottoms.For
extremeshallowwater,lessthan3feet,reducethegainnearthe
minimumsetting.
T-BOXONLY:WhenusingtheWide40degreeangle,youwillneed
turnupthegainhigherthanwhenusingthe20degreeangle.Thisis
normal,astheconeofsoundiscoveringtwicethearea.
ThissettingallowsSonarPhonetocontrolthedepthrangesettingfor
you.Itwilldoit'sbesttokeepthebottominviewatalltimes,
switchingdepthrangesasneeded.ChangethissettingtoOFFand
youcancontroltherangesettingmanually.
IMPORTANT:Whileusingmanualrangeoperation,ifthedepthis
greaterthanthedepthrangesetting,thebottomwillnotbevisible
onscreen.Changetherangetoadeepersettingorselect"Auto"to

IMPORTANT:Ensurethatthefishinglineisheavyenoughandthe
T-PODiswellsecured.Sliplinetechniquesarenotrecommended
becauseofthehigherriskoflosingtheT-POD.Also,beawareof
powerlinesandotherobstaclesasyoucast.
HandletheT-PODWirelessSonarSensoronlybythetopantenna
coverornoseringwhenitisON.Avoidtouchingthebottomwhen
active.TakeextracarenottodroptheT-PODwhilehandling.Donot
trytoopenyourT-POD,itispermanentlysealed.
BeforeyoufirstusetheT-PODWiFiSonarSystemyouwillneedto
chargeit.
1. Aligntheplugofthechargingcablewiththepinsonthebottomof
theT-PODasinthefollowingpicture.
2. AligntheUSBplugofthechargecable(thelongerofthetwo
cables)withtheUSBsocketofthepowersupplydevice(computer,
adapter,etc.)
3. WhenchargingstartstheredlightsinsidetheunitwillremainOn.
Whenthebatteryisfull,theindicatorlightswillbeswitchtogreen.
IMPORTANT:BesurealloftheconnectionsareDRY,wateronthe
stainlesssteelconnectioncancreaterust.
TheT-PODWiFiSonarSystemwillactiveautomaticallywhenitis
immersedinthewater.TheT-POD'sinternalGREENindicatorlight
whenithasconnectedaSonarPhoneappsuccessfully.Once

1. Dampenapapertowelwithcoolwater.
2. Bunchitupandplaceitagainstthepinsonthe
undersideofT-POD.
3. Watchasthelightturnsonandthenbeginstoflicker.
4. ConnecttotheT-PODwithyourSonarPhoneApp.
RefertotheWiFiconnectioninstructionsifneeded.
MakesuretheGAINisatleast70%.(Youcanremove
thewettowel)
5. HoldtheT-PODabout1meteraboveahardflatfloor
(notcarpet).
6. PointtheflatpartofthebottomoftheT-PODatthe
floorandwatchfortheechotoappearonyour
SonarPhonechart.Themoreperfectyouraimatthe
floor,thestrongertheechowillappear.Increasethe
gainlevelifyoucannotfindafloorecho.
7. TheT-PODwilltime-outandturnitselfoff30seconds
afterthepinshavedried.
IMPORTANT:TheT-POD's"WetSwitch"pinsmustberinsedwith

Beforeyoubegintheprocessofinstallingthetransducer,checkyour
hulltofindaspotwhereyouwillhaveasmoothwaterflowalong
thebottomoftheboat.Youwanttoavoidribs,rivets,andgougesor
scratchesinthehull.Thesecreateturbulenceinthewaterandcan
scatterSonarPhonereadingsathighspeeds.
Togetatrueverticaldepthreading,thetransducershouldbe
mountedparalleltothewaterline.However,a10°tilttoeithersideis
acceptable.Ifthehullisreasonablyflatwithadeadriseof10°orless,
mountthetransduceralongthehullbottom.Ifdeadriseisgreater
than10°,mountthetransducerwithlevelalignment.
1. Assemblethestainlesssteelbracketstothetransducerusingthe
hardwarefurnished.Donottightenuntilfinaladjustmentsaremade.
2. Placeassemblyontransomatselectedlocationwiththefrontofthe
transducerextending1/2”to5/8”belowthebottomoftheboat
andwiththefrontpartagainstthetransom.Theleastamountthat
thetransducerextendsbelowthebottomisdesired.Iftoolow,
sprayandturbulencewilloccurresultinginlostbottomreadings.
3. Withtransducerinplace,markthetwoslotlocationsofthe
transducermountingbrackets.Drillincenterofslotoutlineusinga
1/8”(.125")drill.
4. Fastenthetransducertothetransomusingthe#8x1/2”screws,
nutsandwasherplates.
5. Beforefinaltighteningthe2screwsholdingthebracketstothe
transducer,tiptherearedgedownapproximately1/8”asshown.
6. Tightenallscrews.
CAUTION.Donotuseanythreadlockingcompoundonthescrews.
MostproductssuchasLoctite®containchemicalsthatattackand
weakenplastics.
PressthemasterON/OFFswitchonthesideoftheT-BOX.Itwilllight
upshowingthesystemnowhaspower.Whenitstartstorandomly
flash,thisletsyouknowthesystemisnowtransmittingaWiFisignal.
ToTurnitoff,pressandholdthebutton(5seconds)untilthelight
goesout.

totiearopetothetransducerbracketandthentotheboatleavingas
littleamountofslackasyoucan.Ifthecupcomeslose,thiswillkeep
