ENGLISHCongratulations! Polar Stride Sensor Bluetooth®Smart is the best choice for improving yourrunning technique and efficiency. Usingsensitive inertial sensors, it gives accurate andhighly responsive speed, distance, leg cadenceand stride length measurements.Polar Stride Sensor Bluetooth®Smart iscompatible with Bluetooth®Smart Readydevices that support Bluetooth®Running Speedand Cadence Service. When using asmartphone, a separate application is requiredto view stride sensor data. The latest version of this user manual can bedownloaded at www.polar.com/support.For video tutorials, see Using Polar StrideSensor Bluetooth®Smart atwww.polar.com/en/polar_community/videos.Please follow the pictures on the front and backcovers.Write the device ID printed on your stridesensor in the space on the front cover (pictureB). The original marking may fade as a resultof normal wear and tear.1
Install Stride Sensor BatteryBefore using your stride sensor for the firsttime, insert the battery (included in the productpackage).1. Open the battery cover by turning itcounterclockwise to OPEN using a coin(picture A1).2. Place the battery inside the cover with thepositive (+) side facing the cover (pictureA2). Make sure the sealing ring is in thegroove to ensure water resistance.3. Place the cover with the battery inside itinto the sensor.4. Press the cover in place and close it byturning clockwise from OPEN to CLOSEusing a coin (picture A3).To increase battery life, Polar Stride SensorBluetooth®Smart has three different powermodes: Measuring, Stand By and Deep Sleepmode. In Stand By mode, the sensor is visibleto the receiving device and a connection ispossible. When connected to the receivingdevice, the sensor goes to Measuring mode. When disconnected, the sensor returns toStand By mode. If the sensor is not touchedduring the next couple of minutes, it goes toDeep Sleep mode. The slightest movement willmake the sensor return to Stand By mode.2ENGLISH
Pair a New Stride Sensor with YourReceiving DevicePolar Stride Sensor Bluetooth®Smart must bepaired with the receiving device in order toanalyze your running technique and efficiency. For more information, see the user guidancematerial of the receiving device or mobileapplication.Attach the Stride Sensor on Shoelaces1. Undo your shoelaces and place the holderon top of the tongue of the shoe. Make surethe holder flap is facing upwards.2. Thread the laces in through the holes onthe sides of the holder and out through thehole on the bottom of the holder (picturesC1 and C2). Thread the laces through thesmall flap on the tongue of the shoe toensure the holder does not move whilerunning.3. Tighten the laces.4. Fit the front part of the sensor into theholder and press from the rear (picture C3).Fasten the flap.5. Make sure the sensor does not move and isaligned with your foot. The more secure thesensor, the more accurately speed anddistance is measured.ENGLISH 3
Calibrate the Stride SensorCalibration of the stride sensor improves theaccuracy of speed, pace, distance and stridelength measurements. It is recommended thatyou calibrate the stride sensor before using itfor the first time, if there are significantchanges in your running style, or if the positionof the stride sensor on the shoe is dramaticallychanged (e.g. if you have new shoes or if youswitch the sensor from your right shoe to yourleft one). The calibration should be done at thespeed you normally run.Calibration is done via the receiving device. Seethe user guidance material of the receivingdevice or mobile application for instructions.ServiceDuring the two-year guarantee/warranty periodwe recommend that you have service, other thanbattery replacement, done by an authorizedPolar Service Center only. The warranty does notcover damage or consequential damage causedby service not authorized by Polar Electro. Forcontact information and all Polar Service Centeraddresses, visit www.polar.com/support andcountry-specific websites.Changing batteries: To change the batteries ofthe stride sensor yourself, follow the giveninstructions. To ensure the maximum lifespan ofthe battery cover, open it only when changing4ENGLISH
the battery. When changing the battery, makesure the sealing ring is not damaged, in whichcase you should replace it with a new one. Youcan purchase the sealing ring/battery kits atwell-equipped Polar retailers and authorizedPolar Services. In the USA and Canada, theadditional sealing rings are available atauthorized Polar Service Centers. In the USA,the sealing ring/battery kits are also available atwww.shoppolar.com. Go to www.polar.com tofind your own country's shoppolar online store. The battery level of your stride sensor isdisplayed on the receiving device if it supportsBluetooth®Battery Service.Keep batteries away from children. Ifswallowed, contact a doctor immediately.Batteries should be properly disposed ofaccording to local regulations.Caution: Risk of explosion if battery is replacedby an incorrect type. Dispose of batteriesaccording to the instructions.Care and MaintenanceYour safety is important to us. The shape of thestride sensor is designed to minimize thepossibility of getting caught in something. Inany case, be careful when running with thestride sensor in brushwood, for example.ENGLISH 5
