The crystal controlled circuitry providesaccurate and stable channel selection, making it an ideal choicefor your amateur communications needs.Note: You must have a Technician Class or higher Amateur Ra-dio Operator’s License, and a call sign issued by the FCC, to le-gally transmit using this transceiver. Transmitting without alicense carries heavy penalties. Getting a license is easier thanever. See “Introduction to Amateur Radio” on Page 7 for more in-formation.Here are some of your transceiver’s features.200 mW/2 Watt Output — the transceiver automatically trans-mits at 200 mW output when powered by internal batteries, or at2 Watt output when powered by an external 9-volt power source.CTCSS (Continuous Tone Coded Squelch System subaudibletone) — helps reduce interference from other nearby systems op-erating on the same frequency.
