43—733 is basically a cordless telephone with 1 external line, single handset and digital answer
machine embedded for the US. market, using DS/SST (Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum
Technology) over 902 ~ 928 MHz. It is designed basing on the following standards:

Telephone Function
M king a Call
NOTE: Make sure the base antenna is fully upright
Lifi the handset and press , the TALK LED on the handset will light and
simultaneously the IN USE LED on the base will flash.
When you hear a dial tone, dial the desired phone number.
If you misdial, simply pres} button to disconnect the line. After waiting for a
couple of seconds, press the button again to get a new dial tone.

Memory Feature
To end a call, place the handset into the base or press lALK .
If the
handset is out of cradle, press the button on the handset to answer a call. The
TALK LED on the handset and the IN USE LED on the base will light accordingly.
2. If the handset is on the cradle, simply [lit the handset. (DO NOT press the button.)
You can store up to 20 numbers in memory, then dial a stored number by pressing a one-digit
memory location number.
A. To Program a Number into Memory
Pick up the handset.
At standby mode, press and release MEMOR? . The IN USE LED will flash.

telephone number (up to 16 digits). If you accidentally press a 17“ digit, or if you pause
than 30 seconds while programming, an error tone will sound and you will have to
reprogram the number.
Press
and release MEMORY button again, then a two-digit number (1-20) for the memory

You will hear a beep that confirms the number was stored properly and the TALK LED will stop
blinking.
Repeat the above steps to program another telephone number, assigning each phone number to a
different number location.

In some circumstance, you need to store a pause when you registering a telephone number in
memory To do 50, press EEDIAL to enter a 2-second pause.
NOTE: Each pause you store is counted as a digit. You can store up to 16 digits in each memory
location.
Last Number Redial
Whenever you make a telephone call, this unit will automatically store the number (up to 32 digits)
you just dialed in its memory.
1. Press lALK and wait for the light to go on. .
2. When you hear a dial tone, press DIAL instead of entering the telephone number.
The previous number stored in memory will be replaced by a new one whenever you dial a new
number.

Press LASH to activate custom-calling service such as Call Waiting or 3-way Calling. You may
have to press other buttons before or alter ELASH as explained in custom-calling instructions
provided by your local telephone service company

In pulse-dialing mode, you can access bank facilities, telephone answering machines, etc., by
simply pressingEi key to get into the tone mode temporary. This phone will automatically return to
dial pulse (rotary) dialing when you end the call.

At standby mode, you can choose-”one of the foui- built-in ringer patterns by pressing the FLAASE
button followed by a number in the range of 1-44 A number out of this range will be ignored. After
ringer selecting, press FLASH again to confirm setting. The selected ring will be programmed into
the unit.
Volume (Eontrols
Follow the instructions below to set the handset volume and/or ringer control:
A. Handset Volume Control
Press the VOL. UP / VOL. DOWN buttons on the handset to adjust the handset volume toward a
more comfortable listening level. This will not effect what the other party is hearing.
B. Ringer On/Off Control
To turn 0 Tthe ringers on the base and handset, set RINGER on the base to OFF

The page Eature allows you—to signal someone at the handset frontal-raise. _

0 Press the PAGE button on the base. A 2-part paging tone will sound at the handset.

Answering System Operation
There are approximately 14 minutes of total recording time, including OGM and silence
compression, shared by your announcement and incoming messages. The shorter your
announcement, the more time for incoming message. Remember to record your OGM no longer
than 60 seconds.
Before using the TAD system, you have to turn the system on/off, or set the system to Answer
Only mode.
When set the system on, this unit is ready to answer and record calls.
When set the system off, this unit cannot activate the TAD functions.
When set for Answer Only mode, your system will answer incoming calls, play
your announcement and then hang up without recording messages
Operation at the Base
1. Press the ANSWEE key to toggle between On / Off/ Answer Only Mode.
NOTE: The display shows “A0” in Answer Only mode.
Operation Using the Cordless Handset
1. Press REMOT button.
2. Press # (Change) and El (Answer) to toggle between On, Off and Answer Only Mode.
Remote Control (Operation Using an External Phone):
1. Dial your telephone number using an extemal phone, your answering system will pick up the
phone.
2. Enter your PIN number (default is 50) within 20 seconds, the TAD system will be turned on
remotely.
3. Press E (Change) and * (Answer) to toggle between On, Off and Answer Only Mode.
NOTE: When you turn on the TAD system, the Message LED will flash if there is a new ICM
waiting for being retrieved. If not, the LED will be lighted on. When you turn the TAD system off,
the message center LED and mailboxl/mailbon LED will turn off simultaneously.
Announcements to Callers
You can record 2 different announcements on this unit: Recording and Answer only. When you set
the system ON, it will answer and record calls. When you set the TAD system to the “Answer
Only” mode, it will answer calls and play the announcement, but not record messages.
A. Recording Outgoing Messages (OGM)
You can record your announcements either using the cordless handset or an external telephone.
NOTE: Your OGM can be recorded in either ON or ANSWER ONLY modes. To record an
“ANSWER ONLY” OGM, turn the system to ANSWER ONLY mode while recording. To record
a general OGM, turn the system to ON while recording.
Use the Cordless Handset to Record your OGM
1. Press MO button on the handset.
2. Press CHANGE), then QANNC.) The system beeps once when it begins to record.
3. Speak towards the microphone in a normal tone of voice.
4 Press El (STOP) button when you finish recording. Your announcement will play back
automatically.
5. Press REMOTEI button again to return to standby mode.
Use an External Telephone to Record your OGM
1. Dial the telephone number.
2. When the TAD system picks up the phone, enter your PIN number (default is 50).
3. Proceed with above steps from 2 to 5.
NOTE: This unit has two personalized mailboxes and one message center. Callers can leave
messages in either mailbox or message center. Your announcement has to notify the callers to press
E , followed by [I] , E or E] after your OGM playback and the beep tone. Remember to notify the
callers to keep recording message no longer than 60 seconds.
B. To Replay the Announcement at Any Time:
The system must be set to ON or Answer Only mode
Use the Base to replay the announcement
1. Press and release the §NNC button.
2. The outgoing announcement will play back. When your system plays an announcement, the
Message Window shows “PL”(Play).
3. To stop playing OGM, press and release STOH button.
Operation from the Cordless Handset
1. Press REMOTE.
2. Press and release the ANNg (0) button.
3. The outgoing announcement will play back. While your system plays an announcement, the
Message Window shows “PL”(Play).
4. To stop playing OGM, press and release (5) button.
Remote Control
1. Dial the telephone number.
2. When the TAD system picks up the phone, enter your PIN number (default is SO).
3. Proceed with the above steps from 2 to 4.
Volume Control (8 steps)
Use the OLUME UP/DO on the base to set the answering system volume to your required
sound level.
Voice Time/Day Stamp
This unit records the time and day at the beginning of each message. You may set the time/day
from the base, handset, or an external telephone. The handset must be fully charged before using
this mode.
NOTE: If you did not set the time in advance, the time/day stamp will not be announced.
To Set Time/Day from the Base
1. Press button for more than 2 seconds; the system will announce “Monday” or the
currently day setting.
2. Press and release SE to move the setting to a day later in the week, or press to
move the setting to a day earlier on the week. Each time you press one of these buttons, the
system will announce the day.
3. When you hear the correct day, press and release E LOCK to confirm the day setting and go to
set the hour. The system will announce “12:00 AM” or the currently hour setting.
4. Press and release or REPEAl to move the hour setting down or up (eg. 1 :00, 2:00, etc).
5. Each time you press one of these buttons, the system will announce the hour. When you hear
the correct hour, press and release to confirm the hour setting and men go to set
minutes. The system will announce “O” or currently set minute.
Press and release to or to move the minutes setting down or up (10, 20,etc.).
Each time you press one of these buttons, the system will announce the minute. When you
hear correct minute, press to confirm the minute setting. The system will then
announce the new day/time setting

NOTE: If you did not complete all the steps above, or if you pause over 20 seconds between any
two steps, the system will revert to the previous setting.
To Operate from the Cordless Handset
1. Press —.
2. Proceed with the above steps from 1 to 6.
3. Press (Q) to confirm the minute setting. The system will then announce the new
day/time and then beep twice to confirm settings.
Remote Control
1. Dial the telephone number
2. When the TAD pick up the phone, enter your PIN number (default is 50)
3. Press then E]; the system will announce “Monday” or the currently set day.
4. Press to proceed forwards or H to go backward to select a correct day.
5. Press to confirm day setting. The system will announce “12:00 AM” or currently set hour for
the hour setting.
6. Press to proceed forward or E to go backward to select a correct hour.
7. Press to confirm the hour setting. The system will announce “0” or currently set minute for the
minute setting.
8. Press E to proceed forward or E} to go backward to select a correct minute.
9. Press E to confirm time setting. The system will announce the time set by users.

Use the switch located on the bottom of the base to select the number of times (4,7 or TS) the
phone rings before the system answers.

The system will answer all calls on the fourth ring.
The system will answer all calls on the seventh ring.
The system will answer calls on the fourth ring only if they have
new messages. If no new messages have been recorded, the system
will answer on the seventh ring.
Toll Saver
Set the ring select switch to TS when you will be calling from another location to check for
messages. If you have new messages waiting that you have not listened to yet, the system will
answer afier four rings. If there are no new messages, the phone will ring at lease seven times
before the system answers, You can then hang up afier the fiflh rings to avoid paying long distance
charge.
Voice Activated Recording (VOXI
To stop unnecessary pause due to hang-up and to save message capacity, your unit will
automatically stop recording and hang up afier 7 seconds of silence.
Digital Message Indicator
Your system provides two methods of informing you about the status of the system’s operation:
Message Window codes and Indicator lights.
A. Message Window
The message window displays one and two character codes (up to 62) to give you a running count
of message received.
B. Indicator Lights
If there are new messages, the message indicator LED will flash.
C. Memory Full Detection
This unit will signal the user when the message capacity is full by flashing “FL” on the display.
Meanwhile, the system will armounce “ MEMORY IS FUL ”. No new message can be recorded
until you delete previous saved messages.
Incoming Message Recording
This unit has two mailboxes for personalized storage in addition to standard storage. The caller’s
messages can be recorded in one of the three message areas GMessage Centeii, Mailbox], and
Mailboxl . Callers will have an option to leave a message in one of the desired message areas.
To Leave messages in Mailbox l, Mailbox 2, or Message Center, callers with Tone dialing should
be instructed to wait for beep, then press Em, fl I, or E El respectively.
NOTE: If the callers do not press any key to indicate which specific mailbox their messages are
going to be stored, the caller’s messages will be recorded in the Message Center automatically.
Memo Messages Recording
You can record a memo message for yourself or anyone else who has access to the system. Memos
will be played back along with the other messages on the system
Use the provided handset to record your memo messages
1. Press w button, the REMOTE LED will light.
2. Press on the handset then press El (IM-Boxlb, M-Box2)l, or El M—CENTERD.
3. Speak into the phone in a normal tone of voice.
4 When you finish recording the memo, press -. The system will record the day and
time when you lefi the memo, and then beep twice to confirm finishing.
5. Press button again, the REMOTE LED will turn off.
Use an external telephone to record your memo message
1. Dial your telephone number.
2 When the TAD system picks up the phone, enter your PIN number (default is 50).
3. Proceed with above steps from 2 to 5.
Listening to Your Messages
If there are new messages stored in memory waiting for being retrieved, the message LED will
blink; While the messages stored has been played back but not yet deleted, the LED will lit on but
stop blinking.
A. New Messages Playback
Message Playback from the Base
To hear the messages stored in a specific mailbox, press and release the appropriate mailbox button
of which LED is lit. You will hear “YOU HAVE xx MESSAGES”, then the message stored in the
individual mailbox will playback. If you have no messages, the unit will armounce “YOU HAVE
NO MESSAGES.” After the last message plays, you will hear “END OF MESSAGES” and this
system will keep saving the messages unless you delete them.
NOTE: If you have set the Voice Time/Day Stamp, the time and day will be announced at the
beginning of each message afier giving the message number. If you did not set the time, you will
only hear the message number
Message Playback from the Cordless Handset
1. Press MOT .

Operation at the Base

D. Stopping Message Playback
Press and release ETOP (or the numeric butted} located on the handset or an external phone)
while any message playback, the system will stop playing.
E. Deleting Messages
To delete a selected message, press and release while the message is playing. To delete
all played messages in standard storage (including memo), press and release EELETE and then the
Message Genre—fl button again. To delete all played messages in one of the mailboxes, press
DELETE] and then MAILBOXl or [MAILBOX2L
NOTE: When you activate the system to delete all the messages stored in memory, ony those have
been played back can be deleted.
F. Storing Messages
The system automatically saves old messages afier playback, unless you command it to clear
messages.
Call Interrupt
If the unit answers before you do, you can turn it off by picking up the cordless handset, if the
handset is in the base. If the handset is away from the base, press and take the call as soon
as the TALK LED goes on. You can also take the call by picking up the extension phone. If the
unit does not stop on the extension, press the hook switch on the extension phoneby about 2
seconds or press E button. You may also activate call interrupt by pressing the button
on the base.
Call §creening
Operation from the Base
To listen to an incoming call without picking up the phone, let the answering machine pick up the
call when it rings. if you don’t want to talk to the caller, just let the answering machine take the
message, and adjust the volume control on the base to listen. Callers will be unaware that you are
screening their calls, and they will not be able to hear you unless you pick up the handset from the
cradle or an extension phone. If you want to talk to the caller, pick up the phone and talk.
Operation from the Handset
1. Be sure that the handset is not in the base cradle.
2. Press REMOTE when the phone rings stop (or when the answering system picks up the call).
NOTE: If you press during the phone rings (or before the answering machine picks up
the call), call-screening fimction cannot be activated. The TALK LED on the handset will blink
when the phone is ringing. Once the TAD system picks up the call, TALK LED will stop blinking
which indicates that you may press REMOTE button to function call screening.
Setting the PIN Number for Remote Access
To remotely operate your answering system from an outside line, you must enter a remote code to
access messages, memos and announcements. The default value of access code is 50. You can use
the preset code or set your own as follows:
Operation from the Cordless Handset
Press the REMOT button.

The system will announce “enter new code.”
Enter a 2—digit number (from 00 to 99) as the new PIN code.
The system will announce the new code and then beep twice to confirm setting.

NOTE: If you pause more than 20 seconds between standard operations, you will sound a beep
from the handset and return to the standby mode.
Remote Control Summary
