Indoor/Outdoor Modular Intercom System
Your Indoor/Outdoor Modular Intercom System operates as a two-tone door bell unit and an Indoor unit. The
door belt is simple to install without wiring. You can also add additional intercom stations to your system as
long as they are in the same frequency.

This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation Is subject to the following two conditions: (1)
this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received,
including interference that may cause undesired operation.
Warning: Changes or modifications to this unit nor expressly approved by the party responsible for
compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device,
pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against
harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses. and can radiate radio
frequency energy and, if not Installed and used in accordance with the Instructions, may cause harmful
interference to radio communications. However. there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a
particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television receptlon,
which can be determined by burning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the
interference by one or more of the following measures:
- Reorienl or relocate the receiving antenna
» Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
- Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is
connected.
- Consult the dealer or an experienced radio TV technician for help.
PREPARATION
Selectlng the Channel and Tone for Door bell Unlt
The door bell unit and indoor unit are equipped with three selectable operation channels (RF channel) to
ensure positive operation and prevent interference from similar products nearby. Be sure to select the same
channel for both the Indoor unit and door bell unit.
To set the channel of door bell unit, slide CH switch inside the battery compartment of doorbell unit to 1
(49.835MH2), or 2 (49.860MHz), or 3 (49.885MHz). Then set the Indoor unlt’s OUTDOOR CHANNEL switch
to the same channel.
Note: if the door chime occasionally sounds without anyone pressing BELL on the doorbell, change the
channel settings.
To change the tone for the door bell unit, pull out the jumper the TONE switch. then insert the jumper into
another two pins.
To select the desired volume of door bell, slide VOL to level 1,2 or 3.
Setting the Inlercom’s Channel
You can select which station or stations you want to communicate with by setting the correct AC
channel/frequency.
For example, you could set a station Installed in the kitchen to channel A, a station installed in the family
room to channel B, and a station Installed in a bedroom to channel C. Using the station installed in the
kitchen, you can communicate with the station In the family room by setting the channel selector to B. or with
the station in the bedroom by setting the channel selector to C. Or if you set all stations to channel A, you
can communicate with the other two stations from any station.
Slide CHANNEL AIBIC switch on your indoor unit as follows:
0 If you want all the stations to communicate with each other at the same time, set all stations to the same
AC lrequency.
. If you want to use a station to communicate with only one of the other stations. set only those stations to
the same AC frequencyl.
Connecting the Indoor Unit to Ac Power
Locate a standard AC outlet in the area where you want to hear the chime and use the intercom. Plug the
indoor unit’s power cord into the outlet.
Caution: This product is equipped with a three-wire grounding-type plug (a plug having a third grounding
pin). This plug will only fit into a grounding-type power outlet. This is a safety feature. If you are unable to
insert the plug Into your AC outlet, contact your electrician to replace your outlet. Do not defeat the safety
purpose of the grounding-type plug.

Installing the Doorbell’s Batteries
Your doorbell unit uses four AA batteries (not supplied) for power. For the best performance and longest life,
we recommend RadioShack alkaline batteries.
Cautions:
- Use only fresh batteries of the required size and recommended type.
0 Do not mix old and new batteries, different types of batteries (standard, alkaline. or rechargeable), or
rechargeable batteries or different capacities.
1. Use a Philip screwdriver to loosen the screw in the doorbell unit’s battery compartment cover, then lift
the cover off.
2. Insert four AA batteries into the compartment as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked
inside.
3. Replace the cover and tighten the screw.
When the battery level is low the unit will send alert tone to Indoor unit automatically. The POWER Indicator
on the indoor unit flashes. If no button is pressed before replacing new batteries the indoor unit will beep
sounds every 1 minute. All other functions will be disabled until the batteries are replaced and reset the
device. Replace the batteries at this time.
The indoor unit can distinguish between two doorbell units by its tone switch setting. If both door bell units
are battery low. the POWER indicator flashes as usual and reminder beep will be generated it no key is
pressed. However, the POWER Indicator will return to normal only when both doorbelis' batteries are
replaced.
Warning: Dispose of old batteries promptly and properly. Do not burn or bury them.
Caution: If you do not plan to use the door chime for a two-week period, remove the batteries. Batteries can
leak chemicals that can destroy electronic parts.
Mounting the Indoor Unit
To mount the indoor unit on the well, you need two screws (not supplied) with heads that fit into the keyhole
slots on the bottom of each unit.
Follow these steps to mount the indoor unit on a wall.
Mark the mounting screw locations 2 ‘/2 inches (64 mm) apart, one above the other.
Drill a hole at each marked location.
Thread a screw into each hole until the screws head extends about 1/8 inch (3.5mm) from the wall.
Align the keyhole slots on the bottom of the unit with the screw heads In the wall, then slide the indoor
unit down to secure it.

Mounting the Door bell Unit
DIII tour 3/16 inch diameter holes into the mounting surface. Then insert an anchor into each hole.
2. Align the metal mounting bracket with the holes you just drilled and drive a screw through the bracket
into each hole. Do not overtighten the screws.
3. Align the slot on the back of the unit with the hook on the mounting bracket. Carefully push the unit onto
the hook and slide it down to secure it.
4. Once the unit is securely on the bracket, insert the pan-head machine screw through the hole on the
lower edge of the unit into the threaded holes in the bracket.
USING INTERCOM
Turning indoor Unit On and Off! Adjusting the Volume
Rotate VOLUME counter-clockwise until it clicks. POWER indicator lights. Then adjust VOLUME to the
desired listening level. To turn off indoor unit, rotate VOLUME clockwise until it clicks. POWER indicator
turns off.
Calling Another Intercom station
Be sure the intercom stations you plan to use are turned on and adjusted to the desired volume. Press
CALL to sound a tone alerting whoever is at the other station that you are about to speak.
Hold down TALK and speak in a normal voice. The indicator lights. When you finish speaking, release TALK
and listen to a response.
Notes:
0 Only one party can talk at a time. Wait until the other party finishes before answering.
- The indicator on the station you are using remains Iit as long as you hold down TALK or CALL.
If your voice sounds distorted, you might be speaking too Ioudty or too close to the station's microphone.
Using Additional stations
You can add additional stations to your intercom system as long as they are set to the same frequency.
It you want to set up a separate intercom system, however, be sure it operates on a different frequency.
USING THE DOOR CHIME
Testing the Chime
Before permanently mounting the chime, follow these steps to test the system.
With the indoor unit plugged Into a standard AC outlet. adjust VOLUME to its middle position. Then press
BELL on the doorbell unit. The chime should sound.
Using Door Chime
Your caller presses BELL on the door bell unit to send a door chime and wait tor reply from Indoor unit.
Note:
- It inhouse AC channel is not being used, the door chime will be sent to other Intercom also. Then, indoor
unit and any other Intercom set to the same AC channel can be used to reply the callers.
- If the AC channel is occupied by other interoom users and thus the door chime cannot be sent, only
indoor unlt can make reply to the visitors and the conversation between intercoms will not be sent to the
door bell through RF channel.
Hold down TALK TO DOOR on the indoor unit to reply the caller. The indicator lights. When you release the
TALK TO DOOR. The caller can reply by pressing PRESS TO TALK on the doorbell unit.
Notes:
0 If there is no volce communication between door bell and indoor unit within about 60 seconds, the
linkage will be disabled and should be Inltlalized by pressing BELL again. There is an exception that the
linkage will be stopped immediately when the door bell unit is in battery low mode.
0 You can also use other Intercom to reply the door bell as long as they are set the same frequency.
