Limited N inety-Day Warranty RadioShack warrants this product against manufacturing defects in material and workmanship under normal use for ninety (90) days from the date of purchase from RadioShack company—owned stores and authorized RadioShack franchisees and dealers. No. 604279 Shadow Runner Your RadioShack Shadow Runner is built to handle the road in style, whether the road is the hallway in your house or the sidewalk outside. Built to 1/20 scale, it can reach speeds of up to 180 feet per minute. INSTALLING BATTERIES You need four AA batteries to power the Shadow Runner, and one 9~volt battery for its transmitter. Cautions: Use only fresh batteries of the required size and recommended type. Do not mix old and new batteries, different types of batteries (standard, alkaline, or rechargeable), or rechargeable batteries of different capacities. Never leave dead or weak batteries in the Shadow Runner or the transmitter, Where they can corrode and damage the units. WARNING Dispose of old batteries and the battery pack promptly and properly; do not burn or bury them. Installing the Shadow Runner's Batteries You need four AA batteries (not supplied) to power your Shadow Runner. We recommend the use of RadioShack alkaline batteries. 1. Slide ON/OFF on the bottom of the Shadow Runner to OFF. 2. Push the battery compartment cover‘s latch from close to open until it stops, then lift the cover up to remove it. 3. Install the batteries in the compartment as indicated by the polarity symbols (+and—) marked inside. 4. Replace the cover. and then move the latch from open to close to secure tlte cover. It the Shadow Runner moves slowly or not at all, replace the Shadow Runner's batteries Note: It‘ you do not plan to use the Shadow Runner for several days. remove the batteries. Batteries can leak chemicals that can damage electronic parts. Installing the Transmitter's Battery The transmitter requires one 9vvolt battery (not supplied) NOTE All batteries and chargers required for the Shadow Runner are available at your local RadioShack store. I, Press and slide the battery compartment cover off the transmitter. 2. Place a battery in the compartment according to the polarity symbols (+and-) marked inside. 3. Slide the cover back into place. Be sure it snaps in. When the transmitter's range decreases, replace its battery. < OPERATION Driving the Shadow Runner 1. Slide ON/OFF on the bottom of the Shadow Runner to ON. (See the illustration on page I) CAUTION Don‘t play with your Shadow Runner in the street 2. The Shadow Runner's transmitter has one control button. Hold down the button to move forward with working headlight. The Shadow Runner stops when you release the button. Then hold down the button again to circle backward. 3. When you finish driving the Shadow Runner, slide ON/OFF to OFF. HELPFUL HINTS These hints can help you get the most enjoyment from your Shadow Runner. Running your truck continuously for long periods generates high heat levels. Heat causes wear and tear on the motor. To help keep heat levels down, when your truck‘s battery power dies, let the truck cool at least 10 minutes before installing new batteries. If the Shadow Runner's motor runs but the Shadow Runner does not respond to the transmitter, move the transmitter closer to the Shadow Runner and try again. If someone uses a CB nearby, it might interfere with control of the Shadow Runner. If this happens, move the Shadow Runner away from the CB. You cannot operate your Shadow Runner near devices with transmitters that use the same frequency (27 MHz). CARE AND MAINTENANCE The following suggestions will help you care for your RadioShack Shadow Runner so you can enjoy it for years. Do not expose the Shadow Runner or its transmitter to temperature extremes, and do not store them in direct sunlight or near a heat source. Wipe the Shadow Runner and transmitter with a damp cloth occasionally to keep them looking new, Do not use harsh chemicals to clean them. Do not drive the Shadow Runner through puddles or mud, on a wet floor, or in sand, rain, or snow. These can damage it. * Do not leave the Shadow Runner or its transmitter outside overnight. Night dampness can damage their electronic circuits. To protect the Shadow Runner's mechanisms from lint and hair, do not drive the Shadow Runner on carpet, Modifying or tampering with the Shadow Runner‘s or the transmitter‘s components can cause a malfunction and might invalidate the car's warranty and void your FCC authorization to operate them. If the Shadow Runner does not work properly, as it should, take it to your local RadioShack store for assistance. THE FCC WANTS YOU TO KNOW Your Shadow Runner or its transmitter might cause TV or radio interference even when it is operating properly, To determine Whether your Shadow Runner or transmitter is causing the interference, release the transmitter's control button and turn off your Shadow Runner. If the interference goes away, your Shadow Runner or transmitter is causing it. Try to eliminate the interference by: Moving your Shadow Runner away from the TV or radio Contacting your local RadioShack store for help If you cannot eliminate the interference, the FCC requires that you stop using your Shadow Runner and transmitter.
